  1. I think many people like me are bored of this MNP discussion. The discussion, paper, consultation, feasibility, etc. etc.. are going on for more than 2 years now. People are just sick of reading the news about this in newspaper. I dont think anybody is serious about this. There were so many deadlines for this in the past and nothing has happened. I think there are two reasons why this has not happened: 1. Raja is helping COAI, just passing time keeping and their (and his ?) interest. 2. The whole thrust has shifted to rural telephony and 3G and this issue has taken a back seat.
  2. Tata Blackberry Excellent Plan

That must be the reason, why CDMA is safer than GSM from health perspective
  3. BSNL EVDO cant be used for Hitesh's purposes though it is available in Memnagar area. EVDO works on shared IP and will not work for VPN access. Otherwise, EVDO is the cheapest service available in India in Unlimited category. I am using it in Pune. It gives descent speed in surfing. For downloads, I exprerienced 400-500 kbps speed and once it was at 1100 kbps. but now-a-days I am getting 200-300 kbps. With all big advantages, there are couple of disadvantages : 1. It cannot be used for VPN access 2. SInce it uses shared IP, if you try to download something from megaupload etc., it will always show that your IP is already downloading.
  4. Tata Blackberry Excellent Plan

I have never experienced any headache because of talking for hours on Reliance. I am using it since its inception. There are several reports published so far in news paper says GSM phones are most dangerous because it can cause even cancer. People have experience that when you keep a GSM nokia near a computer monitor, the monitor fickers when there is an incoming call/sms, the same is not true for any CDMA phone. I think CDMA should be promoted for health reasons too.
  5. Tata Blackberry Excellent Plan

First of its kind of plan. But I am skeptical to its success. Monthly commitment is too high. Besides, with OneIndia plan, one can talk approx 2200 minute with same kind of bill. 2200 mins translates to 36 hrs. So, this kind of plan is good only for extremely heavy users of STD.
  6. Actually I am searching for a low budget dual sim handset. Because its required for me to have a GSM connection due to some project compulsion. I am using Reliance since its inception and dont want to change from CDMA to GSM. RConnect is the only way I surf net at home. Only Spice has the Rconnect facility in its low budget dual sim handset. But the reviews are really bad for the handset. While searching for many other mobiles including Fly and other chineese mobiles, I came to know that they dont support RConnect. But chinese handset supports GPRS. So, now if I have to go for a dual SIM handset, the only option available to me is to surf the net using GPRS. Now the main question is : Is the GPRS speed comparable to RConnect ? My kyocera 7135 connects at 460 kbps and download speed varies between 7 to 14 kbps. If the GPRS speed is comparable to Rconnect, I would surf with GSM. Otherwise the only option remains is to buy a different GSM only handset. If GPRS is the way, which service provider has better speed in Pune ?
  7. Give Comparision Between Rconnect And Gprs Speed

Dear Kamal, There are many chinese handsets on ebay (like CECT, Changjiang) they provide GPRS, atleast that is what is given in the specification on ebay. Dear Kshah, Thanks for the comparision on kbps. I think I will go with what is suggested by Kumaar Shah and buy a basic GSM handset.
  8. Well.. I didnt try dslreport. I will do that and will post the result here. The 7 kbps to 14 kbps speed, which I was talking about, was the speed I could see while the file was downloading. Initially it started with 14kbps, it gradually decreased and at last it was some 7kbps. Yes, you are right, so I gave both the speed; connection and download, to make it clear
  9. Yes. Last night only I was downloading.
  10. Kyocera 7135 connects at 460 Kbps. But the downloading speed varies between 7kbps to 14 kbps
  11. Which China Mobile Brand?

Can somebody post the prices of A918, CECT, Coolpad288 ? Is Sigmatel CDMA + GSM or GSM + GSM ?
  12. I need to buy a dual SIM handset in low budget. Minimum requirement is as below: 1. It should support GSM + CDMA (Reliance) 2. Should support Reliance NetConnect 3. Speaker, Handsfree (I read somewhere that Spice dont support Handsfee) 4. Vibrator 5. Long lasting battery Please suggest a handset.
  13. Suggest Dual Sim Phone In Low Budget Segment

Here it says "no connectivity". http://www.flyphone.in/products/v80i.html# Technical Specification, Connectivity. So, I think this will not support Netconnect. - Please suggest. Somewhere on the forum, somebody said that he tested Netconnect in one chineese phone but dont know the name, model.
  14. Roaming Abroad? Try Skuku!

It doesnt look like VoIP phone because it uses GSM SIM. But I am eager to know the technology behind it. Looks interesting option for students going abroad.
  15. Classic 701 & 702 Avialiable For Rs. 501/-

I dont know why there is so much dislike abt classic. I bought 701 some six months back for my wife and its working perfactly fine so far.
  16. Spice D-88 Dual Sim

There is an ad in today's Times. In the Spice Dual ad, they claim that "Active dual modes for Calls/SMS simultaneously". What does it suggest ? I think its more than the call forward feature because they use the phrase "Active dual modes". I assume that the phone should have two towers showing GSM and CDMA signal strength There are two models in the ad D-88 (bar type) and D-80 (Flip type). Can anybody tell the prices of these phones ?
  17. Which Handsets Will Work On Both Reliance & Tata?

What we are discussing here; RCL thinks it is illigal ! Reliance Comm files FIR on tampered handsets Our Bureau New Delhi May 27 Reliance Communications has filed an FIR with the Economic Offence Wing of the Delhi Police alleging that some of the handsets, supplied by Nokia, meant for its own subscribers were being used by Tata Teleservices' users. Reliance has claimed that the handsets were hacked and modified to make it compliant with Tata Teleservices network. Reliance had entered into an agreement with Nokia for supply of specific CDMA handsets, which were offered to the subscribers at subsidised rates. The handsets were tuned to function only on Reliance's network. Nokia was supplying the handsets through its distributor for CDMA products - Brightpoint. Hacked and modified According to the FIR filed by Reliance on May 15, "Handsets meant for use on our network has been hacked and programmed so that the same can be used on network of Tata Indicom. We would further like to add that these handsets, embedded with our logo and trademark, are assets of the company and it had been given in trust to the manufacturer and its distributor. Hence, its unauthorised use on any other network is amounting to cheating and criminal breach of trust," said the FIR. Reliance has alleged that it has found 6 such handsets in the market and the company expressed fears that more such handsets might be there which are still undetected. Reliance has sought an investigation into the matter to know where the tampering happened. Reliance has also filed a similar FIR in Jaipur where handsets supplied by ZTE were allegedly found to be in use by subscribers of Tata Teleservices. 18. Which Handsets Will Work On Both Reliance & Tata?

So, after this long discussion ? Do we have the knowledge of which ones will work on both ? Some members have named some handsets but they have not yet clarified whether they have tried it on both or not. So please put all the options here if any exist.
  19. Bsnl Launches Roaming Freedom Plan!.

I fully agree with anuragz. Why so much hype about the new BSNL and RCom plan of limited roaming. If you are looking for roaming as a chep way to stay in touch with your family or your girl friend, Tata plans are still very good. Instead of paying Rs. 550 to BSNL for 300 minutes of free roaming usage, pay Rs. 249 to call your loved ones for 600 minutes in Tata. If you are looking for roaming for your business purpose, look at Tata's Business Gold plan - Instead of paying Rs. 550 to BSNL for 300 minutes of free roaming usage, pay Rs. 350 for 500 minutes in Tata. For more usage or detail statistics please read my post at http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?show...art=#entry85964
  20. Tata Or Reliance Data Card?

Guys whatever you decide, please be adviced about Tata's customer care. Please visit http://www.mouthshut.com/product-reviews/T...-925052837.html before you decide anything.
  21. Which Handsets Will Work On Both Reliance & Tata?

Since you are having 3125, have you tried using it on both the netwrok ?
  22. Free Or Cheap Std ?

Yes, I found this plans cheapest in India. Its even cheper than Delight 499 of Reliance. Here is the comparision: Select Tata's Business Silver Plan. (Rent 224 + Most Dialled Lite - STD @ 25. So total Fix bill is 249). This plan comes with 150 Rs. of Free Talk Time. Now, if you use this plan to call upto 600 Mins STD outgoing to one Tata number the total bill will be Rs. 249 If you use this plan to call 700 Mins STD outgoing to one Tata number the total bill will be Rs. 274 if you use this plan to call 800 Mins STD outgoing to one Tata number the total bill will be Rs. 299 if you use this plan to call 900 Mins STD outgoing to one Tata number the total bill will be Rs. 324 Now comparing this plan with Reliance's Delight 499 (Fix Rent 499). This plan features 40p/min rate for R2R calling throught India. And it comes with 160 Rs. of Free Talk Time. Please rememebr that this plan has the chepest R2R STD. If you use this plan to call 600 Mins STD outgoing to any Reliance number the total bill will be Rs. 579 If you use this plan to call 700 Mins STD outgoing to any Reliance number the total bill will be Rs. 619 If you use this plan to call 800 Mins STD outgoing to any Reliance number the total bill will be Rs. 659 Please note that in this illustration I am assuming that in Tata's plan you are exclusively using the plan for T2T STD. And in Reliance you are exclusively using the plan for R2R STD. Also note that in Tata you can avail this cheap STD facility (25p/min) to only one Tata STD number. In Reliance you can call any reliance number at 40p/min. Though it is tempting to go for Tata because of the striking difference bwetween others and tata, please be advised, rather warned, that Tata has the worst CC in india. Its not only my personal experience but more than 100 ppl on net (literally) share the same view. Please visit http://www.mouthshut.com/product-reviews/T...-925042700.html before going for Tata.
  23. Which Handsets Will Work On Both Reliance & Tata?

Have you used or have you seen anybody using any handset on tata 2 reliance or reliance to tata network ?
