Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 Nokia is preparing to launch yet another QWERTY keyboard equipped smartphone a la E71. Apparently, the model’s name has been set to E63 and from the bare number we conclude its older brother [E71] is a better device. However, that doesn’t mean E63 ****s, quite the contrary. Here’s what we know, or at least think we know about the E63: GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio as well as UMTS/HSDPA support Bluetooth, WiFi QVGA screen (320×240 pixels) Camera: At least 2 megapixels. No Front Camera. Symbian 9.2 with S60 Feature Pack 1 (like the E71) Standard 3.5 mm audio jack (E71 has a 2.5 mm jack) Thicker than the E71 Flashlight function Non-metal construction (unlike the E71) No side buttons Three versions will be available: E63-1 for Europe, E63-2 without a camera and more memory, and E63-3 for the Americas. There’s certainly a room for a device like the E71 without a camera for government employees and I did wonder when we’ll see it released… [Via: Boy Genius Report]
kshah 452 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 E71 is indeed a good phone and missing front camara may not be a great issue as long as video calling is not available. Also Plastic construction and little thicker phone will be more convenient to hold. E71 is very robust but because its too thin, its at time difficult to hold. 3 mm audio jack will be great for music fans.
Honest 836 Report post Posted November 12, 2008 Nokia E63 Announced Kid bro to E71 After we got a peek into Nokia's internal roadmap document yesterday, which showed the E63's development completion. According to the document, the E 63's prototype was expected in week 44 of this year. Nokia has been quite quick in announcing the latest phone, Nokia E63 - an affordable QWERTY smartphone. Priced at EUR 199 (Rs. 12,000 approx.), the E63 is kid brother of E71 and comes in plastic-fibre like body and 2 megapixel camera with fixed focus. Unlike E71, the E63 does not have infrared, HSDPA connection and GPS. The E63 has an inset screen and is slightly smaller than the E71. Other improvement in E63 is the 3.5mm jack for music instead of 2.5mm jack found in E71. Along with that E63 also includes support for Files on Ovi, which that allows user to remotely access the PC files even when computer is offline. Files on Ovi also offers 1GB online storage for free to E63 buyers. Switching between corporate mode (mail, appointments, intranet data) to personal mode (pictures, shortcuts) is made possible by single key press. Nokia will commence shipping in coming weeks. Let's hope India also gets this phone soon. Courtesy : Techtree
