Please Suggest Android Handset With Physical Keypad (GSM / 3G)

Recommended Posts

i have finally decided to move away from CDMA technology,

so i will be porting my number to GSM.

So of course, android handset will be best choice for me.

But i am not comfortable with touch screen phones.

Please suggest phone with following fearute

1) GSM or 3G handset

2) android OS, possibly latest version, but 2.1 may be ok

3) physical key pad either 0-9 keys or qwerty key board

Touch screen is optional

good battery back up

Budget max 7k, but can suggest handset upto 10k.

after searching on web i found Huawei ideos chat U8300, at 5k

You can check out samsung galaxy y pro its qwerty and touch like huawei ideos and dual sim too. http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_y_pro_duos-4371.php Not sure about its price though. My guess is it might be around 11 or 12k. You can also check this single sim model http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_y_pro_b5510-4116.php

^ ^ ^

All those have yet not launched in India but expected within a month or two.

@Saket

Should not consider Huawei ideos chat U8300 because of Resistive touchscreen, no pinch and zoom and Android 2.1.

Other current options in QWERT keyboard GSM androids are,

Motorola Fire >> http://www.flipkart....bd-87079b9184b5

LG Optimus Pro C660 >> http://www.flipkart....9d-18909e5ceede

Another option Samsung Galaxy Pro B7510 is discontinued and may not be widely available online.

LG Optimus Pro C660 could be a better choice then Motorola Fire.

Read some opinions in GsmArena couple of months ago regarding Motorola Fire qwerty keys issue. Search the net accordingly before making the purcahse. :)

Touch screen is optional

That is self-contradictory. I don't recall of any android phone which comes without touch interface.

@rajan

@karthik

I wont be using touch screen more, as it have full qwerty key pad

so android phone with Resistive screen is as good as non touch screen phone.

so it seems to be better choice for me to go for huwaei ideos at just 5K

aircel is selling ideos handset, with bundling offer, but dont know its price.

regarding OS of 2.1, can it be upgraded to 2.2 or 2.3?

@kamal

i dont like LG handset

so choice remains only samsung or huawei, as u said motorola is not good.
