  1. Reliance Jio introduces 'Buy One Get One Free' recharge offer for Prime users Source
  2. As per this report 4G will start in phases from Mid August. Reliance Communications Set to launch 4G across india in phases - Starting Mid August Source In the first flush, RCom will launch 4G services in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh. KOLKATA: Reliance Communications (RCom) is set to launch 4G services on its own across India in phases, starting mid-August from the key circles of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and will gradually leverage its sharing agreement with Reliance Jio Infocomm as clearances come through. India's fourth largest telco expects clearances from the telecom department on its sharing deal with Jio in eight circles in a week to 10 days, having already got approval for nine others previously. RCom has also received clearances to trade, or sell, its spectrum in nine circles to Jio for some Rs 4,800 crore, and plans to extend that pact to four more service areas for roughly Rs 1,000 crore, people familiar with the matter told ET. RCom "is also set to wrap up tests relating to lawful interception & monitoring (LIM) of its 4G network", completion of which will trigger the 4G launches, one of the persons said. It has also concluded LIM-related tests in 15 circles, and expects to wrap up the exercise in all 22 regions by June 20. In the first flush, RCom will launch 4G services in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, UP-East and UP-West, these people said. RCom now holds liberalised airwaves in the 800 MHz band across all 22 circles. It has forked out Rs 6,667 crore to the telecom department (DoT) to liberalise its 800 MHz airwaves in 20 circles. Besides, it already had such airwaves in Northeast and Assam acquired in the March 2015 auction. Liberalising or 'paying the market price' for airwaves that were allotted and not auctioned, will allow RCom to use its 800 MHz spectrum to offer 4G services. An email query to RCom did not elicit a response. The company's decision to independently launch 4G stems from the fact that it has recently switched off its CDMA network and needs to progressively migrate its 6 million-odd CDMA customers to fourth-generation services. More importantly, DoT approval for RCom's spectrum sharing pact in the 800 MHz band with Reliance Jio Infocomm is still pending in eight circles, including Haryana, Punjab, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Northeast and Odisha. Earlier this year, RCom had inked a 17-circle airwaves sharing deal in the 800 MHz band with Jio, and in April, DoT allowed them to share such airwaves in 9 circles.

  8. Lenovo has started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Vibe P1 in India. If the update notification has not hit the device, one can manually check the same in settings menu. It's a huge 1.6GB download.
  9. one Reliance Mobile store guy informed that 4G SIM are circle specific & needs to be taken from your base circle only.
  10. Lenovo Vibe P1 currently do not support VOLTE. But it is hardware capable so if a software update is provided, VOLTE will work. For india LTE bands it supports band 3 & 40 but no support for band 5 (800+ Mhz current CDMA being vacated by R Com for 4G upgrade)

  13. Jio has pan india spectrum in band 40 - 2300Mhz. It also has Band 5 - 850 Mhz sharing with Reliance. It further acquired in auction band 3 - 1800 Mhz in some circles. If Jio's 4G for Reliance CDMA upgrade customers is deployed on band 5, it will also deploy 4G in band 3 & 40. Otherwise what Jio will do with spectrum in band 3 & 40? My proposition is that a 4G handset with band 3 support should work in some circles & with band 40 support should work in all circles for data. (VOLTE will depend on handset support). Handset without VOLTE support should also work for voice as Jio has Pan India agreement with BSNL & Reliance Communication for 2G/3G voice fallback. So the conclusion is, All handset with particular deployed 4G band in respective circle but without VOLTE will latch on either BSNL or R COM GSM network for voice All handset with particular deployed 4G band in respective circle but with VOLTE will use Jio data network for Voice & will switch to 2G/3G voice fallback where Jio coverage ends. Is my understanding correct?
  14. Supreme Court dismisses 4G spectrum case against Reliance Jio Source Supreme Court has dismissed a plea challenging 4G spectrum allocation to Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL). In a ruling, the country's apex court said that there are no irregularities in spectrum allocation and turned down plea for CBI inquiry. Regarding the charge of allowing Reliance Jio to offer voice service on 4G spectrum, SC said that it is for the government to take a decision. The case was filed by an NGO challenging grant of 4G licences to Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio. The apex court had earlier issued notice to the Centre, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and RJIL on the petition of Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL) challenging the government's decision to allow Mukesh Ambani's company to offer voice services on its 4G spectrum. The PIL, filed through Bhushan, had also sought quashing of the permission granted by the government to Reliance for providing voice telephony on Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum and pitched for a court-monitored CBI investigation in the alleged Rs 40,000 crore scam. The petition said that the Centre's decision to allow voice telephony has given undue benefit of about Rs 22,842 crore to RJIL and corresponding loss to the Government and "is therefore arbitrary, unreasonable and discriminatory". It had also alleged that the company was allowed "backdoor entry" into voice telephony using BWA spectrum by paying entry fee of meagre amount of Rs 1,658 crore determined way back in 2001, a figure which has been rejected by the apex court in its February 2, 2012 judgement in 2G spectrum allocation scam case. The petition had claimed that the decision not to increase the Spectrum Usage Charges to the same level as is being paid by the other operators who provide voice telephony under Unified Access Services licence, was discriminatory.
