  1. Bsnl Slashes Internet Charges

Jusmail, I belive these are telephone call tariffs only ...ISP charges are a seperate issue! So obviously while using Netone, you'll be billed according to the new, lower tariffs for the telephone calls, but Netone charges on 10p/min will apply.
  2. My Dream, My Gtran

Saurav, PC sync and all is fine, but surely your phone needs to do more than that, right!? If it hasnt got the basics right, like SMS, etc, etc (I don't have to repeat here), then the fancier stuff looses its charm! And thats why I (luckily) didnt upgrade to Gtran... Anyway, now that you are stuck with it, lets hope they give you guys a satisfactory software upgrade...
  3. Wap access to Yahoo & MSN

The link for Yahoo! messenger is back. But still not working! Is it working for anybody???
  4. Increase In Rimweb Users Lately...

I would fully agree with City. There would be many people who may be considering a new RIM who could benifit from this forum. Also, some past users may have valuable contributions to make. Besides users may not like to disclose their phone numbers for obvious reasons... One of the main advantages the web is the option to stay anonymous. Lets not try to take that important element away.
  5. Rworld On Gtran

Link to Yahoo! messenger is no longer seen even on RD 2030 ...though it was there sometime, couple days back...
  6. Is Gtran A Genuine Company?

Guys, rather than flaming each other here, lets flame RIM ...thats the real culprit!
  7. Why 140 Character SMS ?

What exactly is a "multi screen" SMS? Are you reffering to the fact that SMS with images made with symbols sent from GSM phones come up garbled on RIMs (another major drawback of RIM! ). I guess that could have something to do with the carriage return symbol...
  8. Variety of junk is right! Tariffs not so attractive either. Considering everthing, RIM just dosen't look attractive enuf for a new customer! And if you are a SMS junkie, then RIM is absolute no-no ...SMS bugs in many handsets ...and no support for concatenated SMSes! No MMS to GSM phones either!! No Yahoo! messenger access! No ringtones from elsewhere! Whats more, no flexibilty with handsets and plans even within its own network!!! . The only good thing perhaps is the network. RIM really needs to give a hard look at itself...
  9. Why 140 Character SMS ?

Lol ...calling is calling & SMS is SMS ...they are not always substitutes for each other! I don't know how you say RIM has the best tariffs ...andyway it depends on individual usage. Maybe good for those who use their phone only for calls. Anyway, that has been discussed elswhere; and a tariffs related discussion would take us way off topic...
  10. Bsnl Slashes Internet Charges

Im no BSNL fan, but with the current tariffs BSNL wins hands down! In a way the tariffs compensate for its drawbacks. I'v been using BSNL landline + BSNL pre paid and postpaid for net access. I certainly wont say its perfect, but considering the tariffs it'd say it certainly is the best option. Whats more it (Sancharnet) is definitely faster and MUCH cheaper than VSNL and other ISPs! BSNL post paid (unlike RIM) also gives a very detailed report of usage. Hopefully with the current fall in tariffs, BSNL will also reduce the current 10p/min tariff...
  11. Why 140 Character SMS ?

140 characters is toooooooooooooooo less!!! I'd say this combined with RIM's much higher tariffs for SMSes pretty much makes it inappropriate for avid SMSers! On my RD 2030 anything sent above 160 chars from a GSM just dosent get thru to me! Besides GSM people with concatenated SMS capibility don't really check the lengths of the messages they are sending ...and if it exceeds anything beyond 160/140 chars, it simply wont get thru to you ...and you might miss an important message! Whats more, the person at the other end even gets a 'message sent' messge!!! So think before you buy something like this guys!
  12. Bsnl Slashes Internet Charges

Well, if they don't one can always ditch them and go for BSNL... This is too good to ignore for net users... Surprisingly, it seems BSNL has been taking more "initiatives" than RIM...
  13. Wap access to Yahoo & MSN

The link is no longer there on my 2030 now. R-World is really getting strange...
  14. And whats good about giving importance to them??? As far as RIM is concerned, it must just be making business sense ...thats the bottomline...
  15. Could somebody give the details of the upgrade schemes hes been told of?
  16. Wap access to Yahoo & MSN

I can see the link on my RD 2030 also ...but its not working. You should be able to find the link in MoreServices>Surf>Mail... Lets hope it starts working soon!
  17. Use Gtran Without Battery

Ok, I thought so ...thats why I wondered. Thanks for the clarification code.
  18. Lg Rd 2030 Handsfree Problem

I'v been having a problem with my RD2030 handsfree for the last month or two - whenever I'm using it, the person at the other end complains of a near constant irritating noise (goes like - 'tak tak tak tak'...). There does not seem to be any problem with the audio at my end. And it happens only when I'm using the handsfree. LG service centre here has changed my handsfree twice, and yet the problem persists! But now perhaps with a difference - whenever I blow into the handsfree mic, the noise stops!!! But then starts again after some time! Wierd!!! So it certainly seems to be a handsfree only problem ...and (hopefully) nothing wrong with the phone itself. But how come the replaced handsfree kits have the same problem??? Any comments/advice/suggestions guys? I'm sick and tired of repeated trips to the ASC, and its far for me...
  19. Lg Rd 2030 Handsfree Problem

Hey guys, thanks a whole lot for all those inputs. I just dont feel inclined to buy a non-original component; not at least while my stuff is still in warranty. Yes, going to ASC is a big hassle, but I guess I'll have to try that again. I'm not so sure that its a handset problem ...if so, then how would just blowing into the handsfree mic make the noise go away??? Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to try my handset with another handsfree and vice versa, as only one friend of mine has a Reliance ...and is way too far. So thats not an uption... Else would have done that 1st thing! Anway, I guess I'll try changing the clear voice option to "Off" (I'd left it "On", though Reliance advices to keep it off ....but I didn't see any difference on my handset), as you suggest, Umeshd. And btw, my firmware is the latest verson too. And one more thing - the intensity of the noise on the current handsfree is definitely lower than the previous handsfree ...also its not continious like before (and goes away by blowing too, lol). So I'd again be inclined to think its a handsfree problem... My warranty gets over this month ...just hope I can get it fixed before that...
  20. My Dream, My Gtran

Do you really have to tell them all this??? Even the good old B & W RD2030 has most of these features! And I used to think RD 2030 could do with a few improvements! Wow, you Gtran users sure seem to have purchased a real buggy toy, congrats! Didn't you look into these things before you bought it???
  21. Use Gtran Without Battery

Code, you mean to say that the battery charging circuit is linked to whats visible as the battery level indicator???!!!
  22. Lg Rd 2030 Handsfree Problem

Hyper, my handset is still within warranty! So why should I go and buy a "non OEM" product from elsewhere???
  23. Lg Rd 2030 Handsfree Problem

Amazing idea! I should try it sometime if all else fails ...wierd solutions can work with RIM stuff often... Code, thats very, very unlikely, as my cell is in mint condition, with the small cover on the handsfree socket intact; and also my cell is always in a removable plastic cover when outdoors. And I don't really use the handsfree outdoors either ...and indoors too always in a pouch when not in use. Besides it dosen't explain how the noise at the other end stops when I huff & puff into the mic!!!
  24. Have You Checked Out The New Webmail>>

Its working on my RD 2030 also now ...but certainly seems to be the old version - BSNL mail option is not there!!!
  25. You think that the web site answers all these problems? Its not even updated often enuf! Besides I was told by helpdesk that 6 months incoming has been withdrawn with retrospective effect ...even if I dont recharge the original voucher which is loaded when you had converted, I would get only 1 month incoming!!! Main problem is that there just enuf transperancy. And I dont think its jsut with Reliance ...other operators also leave a lot to be desired...
