Mtnl Cuts Std Rates To Rs 1.25 Per Minute
commonman replied to @ksh@T's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
W.e.f. 1.11.2006, all customers under BSNL Plan 180 (i.e. the default Plan), which is applicable in the SDCA’s where the equipped capacity is 30,000 or more automatically started getting benefits of BSNL One India landline Plan by default without having to make any request from their side. It was gift from the then Telecom Minister. http://bsnl.co.in/newsdetailed.php?news_id=331 Further, from Sept 2007, all such customers have also been extended STD facility by default free of charge. http://bsnl.co.in/newsdetailed.php?news_id=363 -
It is quite possible the ABN has re-presented the check and got clearance. If original cheque has been cleared, it would be with your banker. If not cleared and returned, it would be with ABN. Ask ABN to return the original cheque. If they can't, confront with your bank statement and ask for credit of amount to your account and threaten to take the matter to ombudsman. If you get back the original cheque, confront your banker and ask for reversal of debit and threaten to take the matter to ombudsman. Alternatively, directly confront your banker with the copy furnished by ABN and ask for reversal. IF they say that the cheque has been cleared by them, ask them to give a certificate to that effect along with clearance details as well as the original cheque. Then armed with that take on ABN.

I hope BSNL too reduces its landline STD rates fast... like MTNL! All BSNL landlines already have one india plans. For mobiles may be round the corner. -
what is meant by "Inactive (days)" in the link?

My experience with ABN AMRO has been quite good. Rather I found Stan Chart to be the biggest swindler of them all. ICICI and Citi Bank are also fair enough. However, I have now shifted to Deutsche Bank card as the main card as they are providing the online payment of dues from any Bank A/c through the NEFT facility. ICICI bank provides aimilar facility but only from ICICI bank A/c.

For the record, as already discussed earlier in this forum, CLASSIC is owned by Reliance only. This brand is used by them for primarily chinese sets sources from multiple vendors. The manufacturer can be identified from the series used. 100 series is for JINPENG 200 for ZTE 300 HUAWEI 400 TCL 600 ROSE 700 KINPU further 01 to 30 is for B/W 31 to 60 is for COLOR 61 to 90 is for FM 91 to 99 is for camera So Classic 731 would be KINPU > COLOR

What else can you expect from "Classic" brand

Some CC providers allow the facility of deactivating online transaction option. If you have more than one card, you can deactivate online option for all except one. This minimise the risk to that extent.

The Site gives links for downloading LG drivers for Vista. So must be a LG phone. If its a rejigged version of LSi 110 with new batteries, then it could be a good option -
Virgin Mobile Is Here For The Youth, Courtesy Tata
commonman replied to Arun's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
As per the updated website of Virgin, the incoming payout is "Not applicable for Free outgoing calls originating from Tata numbers (mobile or fixed) and terminating on Virgin Mobile India network)" Does this also mean that the free outgoing Tata 2 Tata option of normal Tata No. applies to calls made to Virgin No.s also? -
Higher wireless speed is possible only with CDMA + EVDO presently provided by BSNL at select areas You can check if the BSNL EVDO datacard option is available at your place. Burst speeds of 1.8 mbps and unlimited connection for 550 month

Do not think so. Some particular series under 92 would be reserved for Virgin. Tata software would treat it as offnet no. -

As per the Stated legal Position of both TATA and Virgin, the deal is not a MVNO, but is a franchisee agreement. Which means both services are owned by TATA only. MVNO is not permitted in India under the present rules. -

Based on the FAQ in Virgin mobile website, I doubt that. Phones expect to come locked. So, TATA normal service - should be possible since same network. Other Service - Don't think so. -

I'm sure they will. Lets wait and watch. -
I have two no. in postpaid. received SMS in both no. But the target value and discount amount is different. Target value appears to be 30-50% above the last three months average usage. So new trick to get higher usage.

Question is, since both TATA and Virgin share the same system and are technically two brands of the same company (thats what they are claiming, right), would calls from a TATA phone with free on-net facility also be free to a Virgin number and the Virgin NO. get 10p on that? -
That's exactly BSNL's business strategy. Low rental is to lure non-starters. Once they start using it they'll go beyond free limit lured by fluid speed of 2mbps. Either customer will switch to high limit plan or end up paying 0.90/MB beyond 150 MB. Both are win cases for BSNL. In my opinion its a very good plan for calculative user with controlled mind. I fully agree. only the most calculative expert can manage this kind of connection. Perhaps as a weekend back-up to his office one.

The rates are similar to existing plans from TATA / other providers. The USP is the free call value on incoming calls.
