  1. How to Disable Camera On Mobile Phone?

Amit, in case the camera/camera software is not functioning and I can cover the camera with some sort of lid, it can be allowed since the camera is not working and is also not visible. I want to carry this phone because there are very limited options available in non camera phones and the ones that are available remind of the old days of mobile phones which have only basic features. Only thing they have is FM radio.
  2. Will MNP Help "The Big 3 Cartel"?

Mumbai, Jan 30: The early figures after the launch of Mobile Number Portability (MNP) show that Abhishek Bahchan's campaigns to woo the subscribers have positively worked for Idea Cellular. It became the biggest gainer with a net gain of 12,300 subscribers in just eight days. Ref: Buzz up!MNP was launched across the country on Jan 20 which allows users to change their service providers while retaining their numbers. The figures made available by telecom companies to the Department of Telecommunications revealed the gain and loss for different service providers in India. Here is the major shifts after MNP launch: * Idea bagged a net gain of 12,300 subscribers. (Net gain is the difference between the number of subscribers who left and those who joined) * Vodafone Essar got a net addition of 11,252 subscribers * Aircel settled at third position with 3,389 net additions * Airtel manged to get only 94 customers * Reliance Communications lost 9,837 subscribers and 192 decided to join it * BSNL also lost many of its subscribers.
  3. Television Orders - TRAI

LA Carte packages are a mere eyewash. I understand that due to subsidised set boxes and competetion dth operators are under tremendous pressure. Only dish tv has break even in its operations. Still, I would say that the channel pricing is very extravagant. If you compare these tariffs with cable in CAS areas, where each channel costs around Rs. 6, its too much. A hindi entertainment/ movie channel costs Rs. 20 on DTH and TLC costs around Rs. 30. If I subscribe 10 channels, it may cost me around Rs. 200. Even a news channel is charged at Rs. 5. If I take normal basic entry level pack I get around 100 channels of all generes with the same price in DTH and if I continue with my cable wallah, I get to see all pay channels he is beaming by paying around Rs. 300. This set up may suit people who take basic package and have to take additonal bouquets just a single channel which wasn't available in their basic package because of company's marketing strategy. DTH are being charged 50% of what the broadcasters charge the MSOs, so they could have done a better job.
  4. Operators like Uninor and Videocon may get away with penalty for delay in rollout citing delay in clearances and spectrum allocation. Their major concern is cancellation of licences where they were not eligeble but were given licences in illegaly. Although, Etisalat is a defaulter on both the fronts.
  5. Has anybody tried RGSM 3G network in New Delhi. I tried it on my nokia N73 but of no avail. I changed network type from GSM to UMTS and even to both but couldn't see the difference. I contacted RCOM CC but they say that you need send some SMS. I believe that SMS thing is for GPRS settings, but maybe CC has not been updated on troubleshooting 3G. I think that they have been asked to put 3G on hold untill they recieve security clearance from Govt. Another possibility could be that I need to go to Web World to get it configured.
  6. It seems that there are no takers for cheers mobile. At the same time, it appears that cheers will get its licenses cancelled unless there is a back door compromise worked out.
  7. I hope our telecom minister is not following your post. Your post is very educational for him. We shud keep our fingers crossed till Jan 20, 2011. Lolzzzzzzzzzzzz
  8. I tried on RGSM but got the message,"MNP has not been launched for your your service area". From my point of view it has not been launched. When I had tried the same in november from the same number, I also got a generated code which had expiration date of December 15. It might be possible that they might be testing their equipment and as a result you might have a received a porting code. I have also called customer care but they do not have any information or purposely not giving any information. I do hope it to be launched before 31 march, 2011. Most probably it will be launched on Jan 20 which is the deadline for the rollout. Anyways let's keep our fingers crossed.
  9. Wrongly Charging For Cricket Pack

I totally agree with you. At the same time it's not just RCOM who have adopted these kinds of tactics. Operators like IDEA, Voda and Airtel also forcibly charge you for VAS services which you haven't asked for. Once you call the customer care, they will de-activate the service but previous charges are not refunded. This tactics are generally adopted for prepaid users. However, the question is that RCOM customer care is so pathetic and confused that they make customers run for their money to get services de-activated. They will provide you variety of solutions but none will work.
  10. Wrongly Charging For Cricket Pack

With January 20, 2011 approaching they will not be able to continue with the same mindset...
  11. Wrongly Charging For Cricket Pack

Issue was resolved couple of days later. I suppose the issue has been resolved with other members as well. I believe, emailing them is a better medium than talking to the customer care.
  12. By the time DOT or TDSAT is about to take action Uninor or Videocon will have a subscriber base that cannot be neglected or inconvenienced. From my point of view Cheers mobile and loop mobile will be in trouble as they have soft launched their products and have negligible subscribers. In some circles their employees are greater in number than their subscribers.
  13. Superiority of CDMA over GSM

The last point is somewhat wrong as CDMA too now have SIM Cards and now have open market phones so you can use that handset for any of the CDMA operator in India. The problem is that there is no variety in handsets available. For example, you wish to buy a touchscreen gsm phone you have so many options but in CDMA you have to contain Samsung Corby or else there is one model available in HTC.
  14. I got a strong premonition that it is real time, any time They can only track green mint in real time..........LOLZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
  15. In New Delhi, it doesn't seem seem to have started. I sent a SMS from my RCDMA phone and got a message that it hasn't started in my circle. I believe they have launched only in Haryana for testing and will launch in rest of the circles on January 20, 2011. Most of the operators are launching their 3G service somewhere near to that date and wont like MNP to start before that. They may loose few premium customers because of that.
  16. I have seen Cheers sim on sale but I am not sure about its network and services. It could be similar to RGSM in its initial stages.
  17. Wrongly Charging For Cricket Pack

I have the same problem. I have contacted CC several times and every time I call them they suggest different ways to deactivate the service but of no avail. I think it is an attempt increase their falling revenues. I even emailed them but they replied and did not bother to read the email properly and asked me some stupid questions. I have used their BIG Flix DVD service and its also as pathetic. RCOM is basically a LALA company and they do not believe in service to customers. I and many other consumers are waiting for Mobile Number Portability to be a reality.
  18. Bad Network Quality!

I have been using RGSM prepaid since Feburary, though has been a little bit of improvement. But still you face problems like given below: a. Have to dial at least twice to get connected to a number. b. Call drops while talking. c. cannot connect to *333 during the day time or night. You need to call early morning as early as 5AM to talk to their CC. d. Recharge not easily available. e. signal strength in congested areas or basements. One of the reasons for the above said problems is network equipment bought from chinese vendors like ZTE and Huwaei to save costs and insufficient manpower.
  19. it's TATA GSM Tata GSM has not secured spectrum in Delhi. In Delhi, only Reliance GSM, Aircel and Swan managed to get 2G spectrum. While swan has not started rolling its network. Its either Aircel or some operator testing 3G. It can be even Dolphin 3G which was recently launched.
  20. It has been launched in New Delhi. Today I went to Nehru Place Reliance Web World. They were selling RGSM sim for Rs 49 + you need to recharge with Rs. 50 and you will get lifetime incoming. You need to recharge for Rs 15 every month to stay active. You get Rs 5 daily talk time.
  21. Do you guys have any idea when RGSM launching in New Delhi
  22. Tata gsm has got spectrum in few circles while aircel has got spectrum on pan india basis and is in the process of launching in various states. It launched it's service in Kolkata few months back.
  23. Apart from IND-O5 I also get IND-800 on my nokia handset, I wonder which operator is this. Maybe it is aircel.
