  1. Called up the toll free number of Reliance GSM and they told me the same thing as usual. Launch date has not been finalised as yet and when the services are launch they would be informing us through the appropriate media.
  2. This proves how unorganised RComm is from within.. not just the outside. They themselves don't know when the final launch day is coming. They call it 'Surprise' for those who didn't know. Dear Friend, This does not show the unorganized behaviour of RCOM, but in fact it highlights the marketing strategy of RCOM. They are creating a hype for a product. The number of forums and topics created for the RCOM GSM launch stand testimony to it. Now it is every telecom analysts and enthusuaists dream for RCOM to launch its GSM service. Even without spending a single rupee on marketing RELIANCE GSM, look at the amount of followers they have, look at the weightage they have managed to give their product, and all this without spending a single rupee for advertisements and marketing of their services. Hats off to them!!!!!!!!
  3. I wouldnt expect an out of the bag launch. It might be an ordinary launch and even if it is a launch with some wonderful offers being thrown across the board, like free talktime etc, I am sure it will be fizzled out soon. This I say because the company is already deep pressure regarding the falling ARPU. And also the stock price of RCOM has corrected around 71% wheras the other heavy weight like Airtel has corrected only 25%. RCOM is under tremondous pressure for various reasons like unhedged loans, Vigilance enquiries etc. I am dead sure they would not want to compromise on their operating cash flows might by introducing "extraordinary" offers. Moreover, the company needs cash for the 3G rollout. Latest heard from sources, it is very unlikely that the company might bid for 3G licenses on a pan India basis and might restrict itself to the top 5-6 circles. Also, the company has to have cash for the CDMA as well as the GSM 3G rollout whereas a company like Airtel has to only provide for the GSM 3G launch.
  4. Today, i.e on December 17th, I tried manual network search on my GSM mobile and I found that the fifth operator, rumoured to be RELIANCE IND 10 is missing. I tried from different areas in Bangalore and still found it not being detected. What abt in other states??????????
  5. Reliance Web Worlds are already overcrowded with various ADAG products being offered through these cramped buildings. Reliance Web World provide services to BIGFLIX, BIG TV, RELIANCE MONEY, RELIANCE BROADBAND, RELIANCE GOLD COIN , in addition to the core business of telecom, which until now was restricted to the CDMA segment. Now with the launch of the GSM services, do you think the Reliance Web Worlds have the capacity to handle the additional rush. In Bangalore, one of the main Reliance Web Worlds which is situated in Indiranagar is really cramped with all these offices situated within a very small area. And also, the Customer Service representatives are really indifferent to the waiting time a customer has to go through for airing his concerns and then wait for further time till his issue is solved. Do you think that Reliance web worlds are well equipped technically to handle the additional rish in a orderly manner???????????????????????? Any suggestions for Reliance to improve this grave area of concern to provide a better service experience????????
  6. Excellent find dude!!!!!!!!!! Really gearing up for the launch.
  7. Why Should I Stick To Reliance/cdma?

Hi dude!!!!!!! I do agree with you regarding the quality of service provided by the network providers in the CDMA segment. But let me tell you that, even if you move to a GSM operator, it is not a bed of roses!!!!!!! GSM has its own disadvantages, like sometimes CC is not responsive, also network clarity is the main disadvantage. If you want, its fair enough if you shift to a GSM operator, but go with a conservative mind, and Please do not expect the MOON from the GSM operators!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I personally doubt if it would be done by December, 2008. I expect it to be only early next year nor maybe even later. That is because Reliance has not yet placed orders for the GSM handsets. They are planning to launch GSM services with a bundled offer along with a handset. The contract with the handset manufacturers in this regard has not yet been inked. At the most, the launch can be announced on December 28th, 2008 which is the birthday of Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani, which also happens to be the launch date of the erstwhile RELIANCE INFOCOMM five years ago. There will be a delay in commercially launching the service according to me. At the end of the day, these are only assumptions. It all depends upon the company. SO let us wait and see, after all it RELIANCE. Lets be hopeful that the services will be started at the earliest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. My guess is that even if Reliance introduces GSM, it is going to be only post paid connections initially. Only later will they start the prepaid connections as I am 100% sure that many CDMA users will take this as an exit route to embrace GSM technology where the main advantage is that one does not have to be locked to one handset. And friends, if any of u have hopes that Reliance might introduce free calls(to all networks), like they had introduced in 2003 during the launch of Reliance Infocomm, then forget it. This is practically impossible. Especially considering that during the launch of Reliance Infocomm interconnect was just a mere proposal and was not yet implemented. So now if Reliance gives free calls, it has to pay the other operators from its own pocket which is IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!
  10. Reliance Making A Killing!, Is Ping Mobile it the cheapest???? Friends, I had a look at tariffs charged by an operator named HFCL which operates under the brand name PING in Punjab. I was utterly chocked to see the tariffs so low. Juts have a look at the tariff on the below link, http://pingmobile.in/pre_ping_plus.html Amazingly cheap tariff!!!!!!! Local calls to other networks within the same circle charged as low as 2paise per minute. How does the company make money at all!!!! When an outgoing call has to be made to another operator, the calling operator has to pay 30ps per minute to the operator in whose network the call terminates. Amazing tariff!!!!!!!! HFCL also provides mobile services on the CDMA platform rather than the GSM platform. Is it some advantage the CDMA players have or is it something else which makes it viable for this operator to offer dirt cheap tariffs???????????????????
  11. Rcom Manipulating Cdma Handset Prices?

I have noticed that the handsets offered on the CDMA platform by Reliance mostly remain very constant. Whereas on a comparison with the GSM segment, the depreciation in the GSM handsets is really huge. A GSM handset costing 10k today costs almost 8k within a 2 month time frame. Whereas Nokia 6275 is still hovering around that 10k range for a very very long time.... I actually want to buy that handset but the price is a deterrent. I want it to come down further so that I can lay my hands on that handset. Currently I am using a LG RD 2650. Is RCOM holding the prices of the handsets from falling in orider to maximise their prifits????????????
  12. Will Reliance Shift From Cdma To Gsm?

No chance Reliance and Tata are going to exit CDMA. They would most probably be retaining their CDMA operations with a shift towards the data transfer plans rather than voice calls because CDMA is more responsive to date plans. And also, with smaller players like Shyam Telecom getting pan India CDMA license, Reliance and Tata are sitting on cash cows. They can share passive infrastructure with these smaller players for using their networks for a cost and this would make their balance sheets stronger and growth more sustainable. Smaller players like Shyam may not be able to raise capital for setting their own infrastructure. And even if smaller players find means of funding through foreign ventures like how Unitech and Swan did, then they would take another ten years minimum to break even. I dont think any player would be willing to wait such a long period of time considering the fact that voice tariffs in India are the cheapest in the world and are fast heading southwards with deeper penetration into the rural areas of the country. Also, CDMA has more abilities like handling more subscribers per Mhz of spectrum. So when MVNO is actually legalized in India, RCOM would be a natural partner for any company who would like to advantage of the far reach of the operator and also the brand image the word Reliance has in this country. I am sure u must be thinking what image a company like Reliance would be having in the minds of the people especially considering the customer service they offer. But also consider the fact that Reliance has always penetrated the market with a market capturing strategy and people go with Reliance irrespective of the service offered considering the rewarding nature of the comapny. For eg, the telecom revolution, Reliance Power IPO, Big TV DTH, etc. It is hard to ignore the importance and fame of the Reliance brand in India. The point I am trying to make is when spectrum is scarce, players like Airtel and Vodafone may/may not be able to get additional spectrum. If such a situation comes up, then for the mobile revolution will be led by the newer companies and also to some extent the CDMA companies who can afford to expand considering that they have dual licenses for CDMA and GSM across the length and breadth of the country.

  15. Tata Blackberry Excellent Plan

I feel that the plan is too good to be true. Unlimited STD to any network is unbelievable and I am dead sure that this plan is going to be discontinued very soon. Because Tata has to pay Interconnect charges for all outgoing calls to any network other than theirs and that is around 30 paise per minute. With this kind of a scenario, I am sure their operating margins and profitability will obviously suffer, considering the fact that the number of Tata Indicaom users in the country are very few, compared to other operators like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications. If u want a limited Roaller Coaster ride, go for it, I am dead sure that this plan will not remain for a period of more than 3 months.
