  1. If Samsung Galaxy S4's specs are taken into consideration, its 4G will be ' market dependant'. And with Samsung's marketing strategy in view, it may be inferred optimistically that in coming years when there will be commercial 4G signal in India, compatible handset availablability will not be an issue.
  2. Samsung Galaxy S4 has 3G, 4G LTE and even TD-LTE band capability, so may I hope for this to be the flagship of LTE service providers in coming days in India? @commonman, as far as competition is concerned, I can bet the subscriber will be a winner again. Reliance grossly ignored the rural India for its 3G/ EVDO service and even the 2G CDMA is almost nowhere in many circles. For example you will have to toil hard to find a Reliance CDMA subscriber in rest of WB circle, their mobile internet is dismal leave aside availability of EVDO. Similar is the case of many circles which are predominantly rural/semi-urban. Reliance Jio will find it hard, or rather we, the common subscribers will feel it hard to find Reliance Jio in our small towns/cities. It's reality a paradox that in a country like India, telecom companies need to provide latest technology (for which they have to bear a considerable cost in importing and setting up capital goods and software) but the tariff cannot be higher/ comparable to global standard. 2G tariff vis-a-vis its cost to company sets breakeven points around end of this decade, while that arithmetic is making 3G proposition almost non-viable in India. 4G foray of AirTel nosedived. MTS has succeeded where they have tried to invade small towns/cities and from where Tata & Reliance chose to stay away. For example, MTS's sucess story in ROWB circle is mainly based on its strategy to go for 35 cities with EVDO where Tata or Reliance didn't bother to explore. Even at my city which boasts a Central University and where a quite good number of foreigner students come regularly, only MTS has EVDO coverage in full area whereas AirTel & Vodafone have launched 3G on a single tower each. Now MTS has got the advantage of having spectrum which is technology neutral. With limitation of bandwidth compared to that of Reliance, MTS can try to lower tariff and fight with a different strategy. To provide voice BWA operators operators will need to belch out more to Govt exchequer.

  4. Samsung Galaxy S IV - The Next Big Thing!

Samsung has a lineup of loyal customers. Most of the S2 users who did not or could not upgrade to S3, now surely will try to go for this marvel, if budget permits. For me it might be long wait for CDMA OMH handset to be available for MTS.

  6. US Cellular Samsung Galaxy Note II SCH-R950

Updated couple of hours back. Let me see whether battery performance improves or not. My GMail crashing problem is still there. However, I'm not facing the 'screen not sleeping' problem as mentioned by you, thank god.

Other amazing features may include: 1. Floating Touch, which would allow the user to hover a finger over the surface without needing to actually touch it. 2. An eye-scrolling feature to make it easier for users to read text, hands-free. Samsung filed for a "Samsung Eye Scroll" trademark in February. It tracks eye movement near the bottom of the screen, the software will scroll down to reveal more paragraphs, according to New York Times report. 3. Samsung also sought for a patent for "Eye Pause."
  9. US Cellular Samsung Galaxy Note II SCH-R950

Thanks Vijay and Sathish for the information. However, are you facing GMail crash problem? I'm facing it on a regular basis from last fortnight. A notification flashes "unfortunately gmail has stopped working...Report/Ok". If I select 'report' nothing happens, just the notification box disappears. Same thing happens if I select 'Ok'. Let me see whether this problem gets fixed with the update or not. Have you experience any improvement in battery performance?

  11. US Cellular Samsung Galaxy Note II SCH-R950

What about USC Galaxy S3's latest OTA for JB 4.1.2? Is that to be avoided too? Will that harm its OMH characteristics?
  12. I'm dreaming about that. Only MTS targets and thinks about small city subscribers.
  13. Samsung Galaxy S3

Thanks Sathish. I'm away from my home and office for next couple of days, hence cannot use Wi-Fi. Will go for the update as soon as possible. BTW, do you face gmail crashing glitch on a regular basis?
  14. Samsung Galaxy S3

^ So, is it a problem of official JB on US Cellular?
  15. Samsung Galaxy S3

I think, it isn't. With the same Galaxy S3 I used to make conference call without an issue on MTS, but after official JB update I never succeeded (with same handset and network). There are some other issues I'm facing with JB like worse battery backup, frequent GMail and Dolphin browser crash.

  17. Feeling highly relieved now More spectrum means better data, Rev B is a possibility in near future. But sans Mumbai I'll surely face problem. Already a long stretch comprising Chhattishgarh and MP was without data, now it will extend to Maharastra and Mumbai. Quite dissapointing. Many negative speculations against MTS are now history. MTS branded handsets, MBlaze will continued to be used by their happy users. I'm looking forward to aggressive tariff and better data in active circles by MTS so that post-NTP it may play major role.
  18. ^^^ I agree. EVDO drains S3's battery fast. I have disabled many applications but to no avail. Even BatteryGuru fails to bring in any change in battery life. I need to charge my phone at least twice in a day and to carry an external battery (make Energizer, procured from the US). If I'm not wrong, the battery life was better on ICS than on JB (I'm on official JB). If on wifi, the phone doesn't get heated up, so battery life gets longer. I have very few options on good handsets to use on MTS. May I request the gurus to try now for enabling MEID of non-RUIM handsets on MTS?
  19. Discounts & Deals For Non Electronics/Gadget Stuff

Received it yesterday. Its deserves special mention because: 1. It is Made in Tihar jail by the inmates of Prison number 5, under rehabilitation project and the proceeds from this product is a form of livelihood of the Tihar inmates. 2. This product is pure herbal one packed in recycled paper container made from waste papers. I salute the cause.
  20. Suggestions for CDMA handset with keypad

Very difficult question to answer. In my opinion, good phones (good specifications like powerful processor, memory, camera, equipped with latest applications, better communication online and offline, etc) are available with touch only or at least with with touch if there is keypad option. Here keypad+touch combo handsets will be suggested, good example of which is Samsung Epic. Or you can go for BB on CDMA.
  21. @ Hitesh, corrected. Thanks for your advice dude. @ SRK, I used 'MARCHON' and got Rs. 3795 discount over Rs. 25299
  22. For everybody's info, I ordered Asus laptop (i3,2GB,500GB, 15.6") on indiatimes shopping on day before yesterday evening at 3:12pm (5th March) for Rs. 21,504 and it has already been despatched to my address today at 9:18pm through Aramex and will reach me latest by the day after tomorrow. So, don't be speculative or sceptic and don't be influenced by baffling notions. I reiterate, my experience with indiatimes is quite good so far.
