  1. TP link TL MR 3020 mini pocket router is available on amazon at a discounted price of 1234. Reviews say it's compatible with pro3 after firmware update Sent from my iPad using tapatalk
  2. Even for seasoned pros, when cdma smartphones can turn out to be such a pain in back, imagine poor noobs who are stuck with such accidental updates.. Is there really a future for cdma smartphones when the lollipop update comes knocking? Sent from my iPad using tapatalk
  3. ^^^^ Can understand your concern.. For noobs like me, Cdma is getting crazier by the day! Multiple US carriers have their own issues like MIN insertion (nv mode), Data limitations, OS update limitations, phone over-heating etc. So I'm dumping CDMA for Reliance GSM here in Bangalore (ICR tie-up with Aircel) & looking for a good gsm phone like MotoX or OnePlus one.
  4. OnePlus invites

Was wondering all these days what the buzz around this thread was & took the pains of going through the specs as I had almost finalised on the MotoX.. Good that I didn't, as I was literally blown away by Oneplus one specs in comparison to its inexpensive pricing. Would now love to buy this phone & eagerly awaiting is return. Plz do consider for an invite!
  5. "Ideally, internet providers should charge all services the same rate. Indian mobile operators say that they have made big investments in creating networks and OTC players are getting a free run" If Telcos are doing this, what stops ISPs from following suit? This will make mobile billing extremely complicated & users will be forced to subscribe to 'VoIP packs' apart from tracking a million other packs/recharges on their phones each Month. Btw are other Telcos around the world already following/proposing this?
  6. Nah, looks like the only mode of communication between the CC & your mobile devices is WiFi. No Bluetooth, No IR etc
  7. Understood, thanks for clarifying.. Mods can Make the appropriate changes to the point & delete these posts if reqd.
  8. Thanks, looks like you have cleared most of the confusion. However, as per your 2nd point, how would streaming happen without Wifi? Thru Bluetooth? Will it be fast enough? Other options..
  9. ^^^ And not just for mobiles, this holds good also for RevA/RevB data cards.
  10. ^^^ Its an official pro3 dongle so no separate activation reqd. However, do register a complaint with regards to 0 RevB signals in your area. I'm surprised that a place like Bandra doesn't have RevB signals after its Mumbai launch.
  11. Once the above issue is resolved, the question is what's the best available netconnect plan for 'Mobile sims'?So why spend 1000 bucks on an unlocked one & struggle with mobile netconnect plans when the official one itself costs 1300 with 40GB@999. Some say, this plan has no FUP/Speed reduction lately. However, if there's a better solution on mobile plans do PM me [emoji6] I was sick of the heating, battery draining problems associated with cdma phones while having data ON.. Not to mention OS update related issues. Almost made up my mind to go for a GSM phone next. But if the official cdma/gsm HTC dual Rev B phones are free from the above problems, i shall happily continue in CDMA [emoji1]
  12. ^^^ Looks like it was partly my mistake. Didn't clearly understand the reason why you're not encouraging PMs. However, the above was just an attempt to prevent Topics from running into hundreds of pages with many unnecessary posts & quotes. Its was more of a signal to the Mods, to frame some rules for this unique thread. In my suggestion, one can also 'play fair' by shipping it to the member who sends the first PM. But sometimes, its not about fastest finger first & since its a free give away, its also our choice, one can get to know all interested parties through PM & choose discreetly whom to give & avoid heart-break for others who feel it was 'unfair'.
  13. ^^^^ Sorry but PMs aren't encouraged by the giver.. We have to ensure the topic gets bloated. Now you may end up not getting the product at all!
  14. Yes, they had launched their 14.7 Mbps RevB data cards (Pro3 as they call it) in Bangalore almost 6-7 months back.. must say that the coverage is much better than Airtel 4G despite them coming a year prior. The attraction here definitely, is their 40GB@9 99 UL Plan. Now imagine buying a cdma wi-bridge wireless router @1600 (compatible) with this device!
  15. ^^^ lol.. I thought the same when I saw the link last night.. @Bagh_mama I think it would be safe to check the rimweb buy/sell forum instead for getting out of the box, working cdma handsets
  16. Reliance Gsm Coverage

@KanagaDeepan what I'm trying to say is that even if reliance network throws up 2 bars, automatic mode would seldom shift to Aircel (even though Aircel is 5 bars) unless we manually set it. Probably because every second/minute that a client is on Aircel network, they bill Reliance. So Reliance avoids it, & have done individual network sharing/coding at each tower accordingly. In my personal experience, Rel GSM jumps to Aircel only if the network is heavily fluctuating or goes down to 0 bars. To avoid all this, I have permanently set my network to Reliance, at least while in Bangalore. As another example, so many times while using HSD cards also, i have noticed that HYBRID mode performs poorly especially where HSD signals are a bit weak. But strangely, keeping it in HSD mode manually, does better.
  17. Reliance Gsm Coverage

To enjoy complete benefits of their ICR tie-up, one must manually change the network to Aircel or Tata respectively.. Keeping your network in Automatic mode doesn't help at all! Check this & revert guys..
  18. Pretty happy with the overall result: * BJP got more than 272 which makes the government not only stable but also accountable. Nobody can give us 'coalition dharma' talk now.. * Hope AAP has learnt its lesson & makes peace with the media. Media can make or break any personality or political party.. Faster they learn, the better.. Apart from correcting their other blunders of course! * Congress deserved this massive defeat. Its a big lesson for the corrupt to take note of.. Improve on your corrupt practises or get caught, sooner or later. * Respect the voter's aspirations for a change & better governance.. But that doesn't mean we are made to blindly vote for an individual and overlook who's the local MP gonna be. For eg. In South Mumbai, ppl were 'being educated' that in order to vote for Modi, vote for the Shiv Sena candidate! (Alliance partner). Even Ananth Kumar in Bangalore was easily able to defeat Nandan Nilekani for the same reason. Hope, the Govt does well & the Indian voter also learns with time that local candidates (MLC/MLA/MP) also need to be accountable. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
  19. Well, some kind of tariff escalation cannot be ruled out.. Neither can cost absorption as their GSM service has been doing pretty badly in majority of the states. But will this partnership be only for 3G data roaming? Why not voice also.. They already had intra-circle tie-ups across India since July last year for voice and data with various operators.. How would that co-exist with the new 3G data roam pact, is a Q Sent from my iPad using tapatalk
  20. But VA has mentioned this issue is with prepaid from 16th onwards.. What does your last postpaid bill say - VAS data charges ?If you want you can PM your no or send the bill screenshot, I'll check. Btw.. Anyone here can send a PORT msg & claim a retention discount of Rs 100x6 months, in most of the circles! if the old handset is blank (without an account/mdn) this deduction doesn't make sense.. Servers shouldn't really be getting confused Maybe their software needs an overhaul of sorts.. Firstly, wrong evdo working & then these charges!
  21. As a last resort for activation & checking EVDO status, guys may PM me. However, its suggested you follow the steps mentioned in this thread before sending Requests. Sometimes, despite activation evdo doesnt work.. Thats handset/programming issue & have that resolved with your seller.
  22. @kanagadeepan This is exactly the reason why i never understood awareness & advertising campaigns on 'exercising your right to vote', 'make a difference' etc etc.... After 2G, we thought DMK was the most corrupt party in TN but you have enlightened us with Amma's mis-governance apart from the earlier CBI cases against her.. In this situation whom will Uneducated voters, vote for? Whom do you expect Educated voters to vote for? If im not wrong Mumbai & Delhi always had poor voter turn out & they were termed lazy due to the same reason. Probably, voting didn't make sense to most of the educated class in India but where was the choice? Where was NOTA? These awareness campaigns made more sense after Modi was declared BJPs PM candidate. Let's also not forget the huge impact AAP made during Delhi elections in terms of voter turnout. Ppl started seeing hope both in Modi & in the AAP movement. Remember "AAP for Delhi but Modi for India" was the cry. After the Delhi drama, how much of AAPs credibility has been eroded, is pretty clear.. They have been pretty poor communicators & with the media turning their back against AAP, its surely advantage Modi! In a way, ill be pretty happy if Modi makes that BIG difference! But the thought of having undeserving BJP MPs in the parliament still makes me scratch my head. Hope that changes too, if AAP manages to lead that change, even if it can, in small numbers. 23. Sirji, not only whatsapp, this has been all over the social media.. With nobody having the patience to verify before jumping into similar conclusions, such propaganda thrives.. Below link from the AAP website trashes all such misinformation against them: http://www.aamaadmiparty.org/complete-candidate-list-2014-elections So i guess, a candidate has been fielded against every name that has been mentioned above, from their respective constituencies like Rae bareily, Farrukabad, Nanded, Sivaganga, Nilgiris etc. And lets not forget that calling AAP the team B on Congress, originates from the same source! 24. @kshah I don't wish to defend Aadhaar or NN on his pet project since i don't possess thorough knowledge on its pros & cons. But on the Bangladeshi immigration/citizenship issue i would take this opportunity to digress from the main subject: 1) Aadhaar doesn't provide citizenship, like the way a passport does. 2) Anyone who enrolls for Aadhaar needs to provide credible ID & Address proof. Im sure local goons/politicians help Bangladeshi slums dwellers not only in obtaining these docs, but also for getting water & electricity connections. Will withdrawal of Aadhaar stop all this? Anyways, loopholes are always found in every system & one must look at improving.. But what really excited me about Aadhaar was that someday a mere fingerprint at a crime scene, may throw up a face in CBI offices (straight out of Hollywood films!) Therefore, there is tremendous scope for surveillance in future, apart from the mere document it stands for today. With regards to criminality in politics, i accept that talking about candidate crime records is fashionable & mere symbolism, as there are many many more MLAs & MPs who are perceived to be criminals & corrupt by nature but don't have a record at any Police station. This is because outsourcing of crime in India, started much before BPOs became a reality. And yes, its unfortunate how laws in India are misused.. Thanks again to the law making parliamentarians, who ensure adequate loopholes in each law. Therefore, im against blind voting for local candidates cause many of these MPs finally have no voice of their own. They only toe their party line & whip, while voting in the Parliament. They're in politics for 'better' reasons! Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
  25. Yes, as the voting day comes closer, we must all continue to have a healthy debate on the politics of this country & how we can bring about a change especially, this election season which promises to be Electrifying ! All these days i was thinking that both the Cong & BJP had been ruling the country & their respective states for quite sometime now & like the way Delhi went for a change, we must all do so at a national level. But looks like AK's sudden abdication of power has worked against him.. most of its electorate feel cheated & many of their sympathisers are confused whether AAP can run the entire country or quit, based on silly excuses once again. I hope they somehow re-invent themselves & keep the momentum going. They can do better without loose cannons like Shazia & Ashutosh for sure. However, it wasn't that only Congress was involved in corruption & only their candidates had criminal records. Check statistics & you will know that both national parties have fielded equal no of candidates with criminal records. But since Cong was at the power centre for 10 continuous yrs of a new India, their scams like 2G were definitely much bigger in magnitude than what Pramod Mahajan was involved in, during telecom industry's nascent stage. I only wish that corruption-fighting Modi had taken a cue from AAP & at least done something about fielding cleaner candidates & been more transparent on their election funding. Today, an over-awed Modi fan has to press the saffron button, no matter who his potential representative at the temple of democracy will be. As expressed earlier, i shall do my bit to bring about this change among national parties. Im a Modi fan, i morally support the AAP movement.. But shall vote for Nandan Nilekani!
