Hi , i just got the Blackberry 8830 WE handset from Sadik Bhai,.... Its working perfect with my MTNL Mumbai Dolphin Connection. GPRS works smoother... ! Only one problem is that i was unable to Download the Google Maps from the net... The *.JAD file extention was not supported by the handset.. as in there was some browser settings conflict. Please post the Solution to this problem, If any.. I am also Negotiating with TATA Indicom PPl in Karnataka State, they are ready to give me any blackberry plans, Along with the BIS/BES and the voice plans as mentioned on their site at an "X" cost with a Premium number series. I've already forwarded the ESN and the PIN Etc.. details to them they found it ok and now they have asked me to send the handset for Programing it with the TATA software which will make this handset working same like handset provided by TATA stores with full privilage to access the respective services.

I DONT THINK SO, BECAUSE IN ANY RUIM BASED HANDSET THE SID, NAM DETAILS ARE STORED IN THE RUIM CARD IT SELF NOT IN THE HANDSET. SAY EXAMPLE OF ANY OF THE GSM SIM CARD. AS I SAID EARLIER IVE TRIED & CHECKED WITH RUIM BASED HANDSETS. ALSO I'M TRYING TO SOURCE DETAILS & AVALIABILITY FOR NOKIA 6265 FROM ONE OF MY FRIEND WHO STAY'S IN DUBAI & WILL BE COMING TO MUMBAI IN 2ND WEEK OF MAY.

hi sadik its chandraprakash here... hi u can try this. its really worked with me. get an active gtran hanset (with an active RUIM card.) & get tata's any tata's TSIM enabled phone. & try inter changing the RUIM with TSIM ... i had tried it with the old morotola handset. by doing so, i could use tata's service in my gtran phone & reliance's service in ta motorola's hanset!!!! just visit for some tata's TSIM enabled handsets. http://www.tataindicom.com/personal/mobile...le_handsets.asp i think any cdma handset (non activated or pre programed) imported from any country may work by this technique. ine has to take a chance!! i took with tata !!!!! let me know yr view on it. thanks chandraprakash.lohar 09322221070 chandrababa@rediffmail.com

Cell thefts: FIR not required to claim insurance June 23, 2005 11:11 IST Last Updated: June 23, 2005 11:13 IST An insurance company, which refused to indemnify the owner of a lost mobile phone merely for the reason that she did not produce a copy of the first information report of the police complaint, has been ordered by a consumer court to pay the claim amount of Rs 8,700 along with compensation. The National Insurance Company had repudiated Deepika Verma's claim citing an "exclusion clause" that only a "Non-Cognizable Report was lodged mentioning that the cell phone was taken away by somebody" while the claim covers only "theft through force or violent entry or exit". Rejecting the contention, the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (North) said "It is very clear that the theft took place. Twisting of words will not change the prima-facie meaning of the crime. A layman is unable to differentiate between cognizable and non-cognizable offences". "When one informs the police about such incident he or she always thinks that a complaint has been registered", Forum President K K Chopra and Member Neeru Mittal said ordering the college girl a claim of Rs 8,700 and a compensation of Rs 2000 for the "harassment and mental agony" caused to her. The Forum said Daily Diary entry and the NCR was sufficient to support the claim of the consumer. Somebody snatched Verma's purse containing her Nokia handset worth Rs 8,700 when she was returning from her college. After lodging an NCR, she registered her claim with the insurance company. She then approached the consumer court seeking justice.
