  4. Airtel offers 4G LTE at 3G rates on Apple iPhone in Bangalore

Indian telecom service provider Bharti Airtel announced 4G LTE services at 3G rates on Apple iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C smartphones in Bangalore.

In a statement, Airtel said in Bangalore on Apple iPhone 5s or 5c will be able to experience 4G on their mobile at the current 3G prices while on the move. Customers have to change their existing SIM to a 4G SIM to start enjoying 4G on mobile without any need to migrate from their existing data plan.

Customers on 2G/GPRS data plans/packs can also opt for any of the 3G plans/packs available and enjoy 4G speeds. In addition to these plans, for heavy data users, Airtel also announced the launch of a new 4G plan giving customers 10 GB 4G data for Rs 1,000. While data browsing will be on 4G network, voice calls will be routed on 2G/3G seamlessly with the CSFB (circuit switched fall back) technology.

“Airtel mobile customers using the Apple iPhone 5s and 5c devices can start experience Airtel 4G immediately. While existing Airtel mobile customers have to update their existing SIM to a 4G SIM and select their preferred pack (any existing 3G pack is automatically 4G). New customers can buy the 4G SIM and any 3G data pack/plan,” said Srini Gopalan, director – Consumer Business, Bharti Airtel India.

  6. Newly launched XOLO Q1100 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 clocked at higher 1.4 Ghz compared to 1.2Ghz in Moto G (MSM8228, unlike Moto G’s MSM8226). Has the same GPU, 5" display, Micro SD Card support.

Meanwhile in addition to things already highlighted, everyone seems to have overlooked 2 other positives for Moto G... :)

    • Gorilla Glass 3
    • Splash Resistant Coating

I haven't seen above 2 in official warranty handsets of various local/ brands selling around 14-15K.

Motorola does not advertise it as waterproof but this splash resistant internal nano coating seems to be quite effective as can be seen from few VIDEOS floating around.

  7. Tech Specs for US Cellular model shows 4G LTE in addition to EVDO Rev.A. If it's LTE then there has to be SIM slot but it's doubtful whether it has LTE. Anyway it will be interesting to know if this one is any easier to find SPC compared to verizon model for flashing on Reliance CDMA.

  9. This looks cool!
New Firewater S-OFF Tool Will Unlock Any HTC Device In Moments!
Including (but not limited to) newer HTC phones like HTC one, Droid DNA, One s, One Max and many others!
Official Firewater Website For Download & Instruction >> http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/
Like most OEMs, HTC likes to lock down the devices it sells to the general public, but maybe you like a little more freedom. That means an exploit is required to get S-OFF status. The new Firewater S-Off tool can manage that for any (or at least very nearly any) HTC device, even newer HTC One phones.
The tool comes courtesy of developers beaups and fuses, and it's completely free for personal use. Just download the files and get to work. The website has a full walkthrough of the process. There are some prerequisites that need to be taken care of first, though. Here is what that entails...
    Prerequisites
    • Working adb on your PC. Yes, that means OS X, linux, Windows, etc. are all supported.
    • HTC drivers installed and working
    • HTC sync removed (not closed – REMOVED)
    • All other phone software removed or disabled (Samsung Kies, PDANet, etc.)
    • A working internet connection ON YOUR DEVICE - wifi, 3g, 4g, etc. are all supported. There is no way around this requirement, don’t ask.
    • USB debugging enabled on your device
    • Your device must be HTCDEV unlocked/rooted or have a working temproot. A temproot that works with many modern (not all) HTC devices is provided on the website.
    • Do not attempt to run firewater from a terminal emulator on your device. You MUST use adb along with a PC.
    • A supported device. firewater *should* work with most modern QUALCOMM BASED HTC devices, including (but not limited to) the htc one, droid dna, one s, one max, and many others.

  10. Another great deal for Boost Mobile Moto G CDMA. Just don't rush for buying it if you don't know what you're dealing with. It's not easy to flash/programme as mentioned earlier in topic.

(Should be cheaper after applying Ebay 10% discount code mentioned in Share/request discount coupons topic)

  11. Currency notes issued before 2005 to be withdrawn post March 31, 2014: RBI

NEW DELHI: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday advised that after March 31, 2014, it will completely withdraw from circulation all banknotes issued prior to 2005.

"From April 1, 2014, the public will be required to approach banks for exchanging these notes. Banks will provide exchange facility for these notes until further communication," a press release by the central bank said.

The Reserve Bank further stated that public can easily identify the notes to be withdrawn as the notes issued before 2005 do not have on them the year of printing on the reverse side.

The Reserve Bank has also clarified that the notes issued before 2005 will continue to be legal tender. This would mean that banks are required to exchange the notes for their customers as well as for non-customers.

"From July 01, 2014, however, to exchange more than 10 pieces of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, non-customers will have to furnish proof of identity and residence to the bank branch in which she/he wants to exchange the notes," said RBI.

The Reserve Bank has appealed to the public not to panic. "They are requested to actively co-operate in the withdrawal process," said RBI.
