Aircel Starts 3G Offering In Chennai, Karnataka, Up East, Bihar & Kolkata
ipkonfig replied to inception's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I am very much surprised that they haven't yet started the 3G services in Trivandrum. I am not even seeing their tests signals over here.. -
The website does not mention Nokia 1508. So this phone isn't a OMH based handset?
-
If I purchase this phone, can I start using it by inserting my existing RCDMA SIM? Or should I visit the nearest web-world for activating it? I am uncertain about these aspects, please do enlighten me.

I always come across forum posts highlighting the superior voice clarity of CDMA. However, I am much more satisfied with GSM in that department. Has it got anything to do with the low end CDMA phone I use? (LG RD 3500)

Running two antivirus software at the same time is not recommended. It will take too much resources.

The OP is quite informative. I wish I had seen this before making that purchase of Samsung 42' LED TV last month

BSNL Unlimited 512 Kbps At Rs.750 and doubles speed of Unlimited plans
ipkonfig replied to kesav's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
^^ Maybe he has subscribed to the GoD service. Games on Demand. While downloading from GoD, the speeds are high. The content is copied from an internal server. If he has not subscribed to the GoD service, maybe his speed profile has been set incorrectly. Within a few days, the officials would correct it. -

Now Docomo Starts Overcharging
ipkonfig replied to raccoon's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Sorry for the delay in responding. There is a fabled game pack for Tata Docomo, which goes by the name of Nazara Games Club. They activated this pack without informing me. The rental for the service was 15/- per week. When I contacted them initially, they stated that I had activated the pack on my own. I do not use that connection and one fine morning when I recharged it, I find that 15/- was instantly deducted from the main balance. They kept on doing it until I lost about 75/-. Some of the customer care agents did not have any idea of this game pack. According to them NGC (Nazara Games Club pack)stands for National Geographic Channel pack! I was thinking about throwing away the sim (I mentioned this fact to the higher authorities too, when they had called me). Ultimately, they stopped the service effectively and recharged my prepaid account for 100/- as compensation. -
I am more interested in the implementation of MNP. 3G was bound to occur at some point in the future. And as the operators mention, it might take several years for the prices to stabilize to affordable levels. On the other hand, we require MNP. That is something which the subscribers have been waiting for some time (and something which is within the reach of every subscriber - regardless of they being rich or poor). One just needs to pay up nominal fees for the migration. But, I am still having my doubts regarding the implementation of MNP in this country after October 2010. The statements recently made by certain telco heads are all pointing to that aspect. That they have assurance from the so-called "insider sources within the government" that MNP will NOT be implemented after October 2010.

^^ And telecom companies are already advertising that 3G tariff is not going to be dirt cheap.

I am certain that some of you might have seen that advert about the 1 crore challenge (I guess it is pureit water purifiers). @rajan What do you think about such products? I am unaware of the operational procedures of this water purifier. Are they included in the "1500/- to 2000/- models" mentioned in your earlier post? In fact, I am searching for viable options. The Philips water purifiers seem interesting, likewise. What is your take on them?

It is the email id of someone who is high up the food chain. I had used it to make them refund me approximately 75/- (which was wrongly charged). -

Airtel upgrading GPRS to 3G?
ipkonfig replied to kepal's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
^^ No. Perhaps you were using a 3G sim already. Cellular providers nowadays give away 3G capable sims. We just need the appropriate settings to utilize voice and video services. I am speaking about the scenario back when they gave away 8k and 32k sims. It pays to do some homework on a subject before citing it as "crap"! Besides, you are unknowingly challenging the opinion of the other experts in this field such as Dr. Mufaddal. Please do read what he has posted in the thread. -
Airtel upgrading GPRS to 3G?
ipkonfig replied to kepal's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Scenario 1: You have 2G sim. You wish to use 3G on your 3G enabled phone. Remedy: The service provider will send you the relevant settings. You can start using 3G on your 2G sim. However, video calling will be absent in this case. Scenario 2: You have 3G sim. You wish to use 3G on your 3G enabled phone. Remedy: Once again, ask for the settings. Since you have a 3G sim, you can use voice + video services. -
Airtel upgrading GPRS to 3G?
ipkonfig replied to kepal's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
^^ Does it imply that those who have a 2G sim and get the so-called 3G settings from BSNL (to migrate from 2G to 3G), cannot make video calls? Edit - Please ignore this query, since I found out the relevant answer by myself. Thanks for responding, though! -
Airtel upgrading GPRS to 3G?
ipkonfig replied to kepal's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
BSNL is migrating existing 2G users to 3G merely by asking them to send respective messages. So, how does it work? I mean they are using 3G on a 2G sim, right? Could you shed some light into that aspect? -
Thanks for the info.
