  1. Tata Docomo Launched

There is NO BAD thing in CDMA network... That is for sure.. It is better than GSM in many aspects, incl bandwidth usage, low radiation, encrypted network,... The bad thing is 1. IT IS NOT OPEN TECHNOLOGY like GSM... 2. With the GREEDY NATURE of FOUNDER of CDMA, the Operators using this technology and handset manufactures, the main problem is the non-availability of GOOD handsets @ reasonable price... (Nokia N95 is about 3 years old and now many GSM handsets much better than it has arrived... But No CDMA handset even today comes near the multimedia capabilities of N95) 3. Most operators scr*w their phones by loading their heaps of sh*t on its firmware.. I luv TataIndicom.. But I hate when they dont allow to use my personal photos from computer to make my phone's wallpaper (in Samsung Explorer), they kill the BT file transfer in Motorola V3c (old handsets), etc.. 4. No BIG phone manufacturer is having interest in making good CDMA mobiles (when comparing GSM) or atleast here in India.. NOT ALL CDMA users are using their FAVOURITE BRAND's CDMA mobile... 5. Most Handsets are dumb-phones.. 6. Even if there are few smartphones, they are network locked... We need to unlock them, but still there will be some traces of their nasty sh*ts remaining.. 7. In default handsets, Web browsing is not DIRECT like typing a URL and go.. We have to go through the operators back door t*ilet eg: R-World. Everybody can see that all the problems are MOSTLY HANDSET-RELATED... I just want to say that "Even though the Technology is HEAVEN, We dont want to live as a SLAVE there"... "Instead We prefer to be a free bird in HELL" Isn't it????
  2. So numbers starting with 9 is always a mobile number and numbers starting with '8' can be either a mobile number or a landline number... Landline numbers in Bangalore will get more wrong calls than any other state landline phone.. Long long ago, we can see the mobile number and we can understand in which network, the subscriber is in... But nowadays, it will be difficult to even know, if it is a landline number or mobile number??? I cant understand this... Why 800xx series is alloted to BSNL GSM???? Whether BSNL has exhausted the 94xxxx series already???
  3. I don't think so... What about land-line numbers from cities with STD codes starting with '8', for example, STD code of Bangalore is '080'... And a land-line in Bangalore will be as '080-2xxx xxxx' and there are many cities with STD codes starting with '8'... And anyone outside Karnataka should call with '0'+Mobile Number <as it is an STD number>.. Whether DoT is going to change STD code of Bangalore and other towns... VERY UN-LIKELY... Please clarify, if you have got more details regarding this...
  4. BSNL already offers DataOne (BSNL roadBand) at 2Mbps speed even for 250Rs rental plans... So that wont be a problem for BSNL... But for others, I think its not so easy or they are trying hard to hide the fact... Airtel and few others offers even 8Mbps speed, but in premium plans...
  5. Ericsson Unveils Tower Tube In India

Even operators are NOT paying any attention... CDMA has become network for very dirt-cheap tariffs and dirt-cheap handsets only, though it is technologically superior than GSM... All due to one company called Qualcomm... When 3G and MNP arrives, I dont think customers with ARPU > 1000 will stick to CDMA, though the tariffs will be much much cheaper... Many people says that CDMA next-gen will be successful due to very fast data... Well, 3.5G GSM, that is HSDPA also has fast data speeds.. I dont think that people leaving CDMA for 3G-GSM now, will return back later for high data speeds, though MNP will be available @ that time... May be CDMA data cards and USB data disks will sell for sure like hot cakes...
  6. Tata Docomo Launched

The calls from DoCoMo to tataIndicom mobiles (NOT WALKY or LANDLINES), Virgin mobiles are on-net... (Thats 1p/2sec if you activated Special Rs25 pack) But the converse is NOT TRUE, at-least for now...
  7. Idea Dials Into Tamilnadu

Walk when you talk, is a nice idea... But launching services only in (already house-full) cities is "WHAT A (BLUNDER) IDEA SIR ji???"
  8. Tata Docomo Launched

Dear Ramesh, What you are saying is right and thatz what I mentioned at first... But What I expected from them is, if they start everything in per second basics, they should give roaming rates (atleast while roaming in their network) as say 2p/sec for incoming and 5p/2sec for outgoing STD...
  9. No, its more than that... 1) Pay Rs75 EXTRA to make 5 local airtel numbers at REDUCED RATE of 20p/min <<Rs77.50 for January, March, May, July, August, October, December>> 2) Pay Rs150 EXTRA to make 5 STD airtel numbers at REDUCED rate of Re0.50/min.. <<Again Rs155 for Jan, March, May, July, Aug, Oct, Dec>> Airtel is well known for these lunatic offers, which have a lot of such hidden bombs... It is better to use the booster pack or addons, instead of these STUPID 1Re/Day schemes... What I cant understand is, how they got 10c customers with such offers...
  10. Nokia Patents C, X Series Brands

I think, Karki is correct... I think the C series are high end CameraPhone series and X series are XpressMedia (XpressMusic are music phones)
  11. Tata Docomo Launched

Roaming is too costly now... I think they will change the same after a few months, or atleast when they start concentrating much more on Postpaid Plans... For me Roaming Incoming is FREE (750 min in TataCDMA and 300 min in BSNL) and roaming-local is Re0.50 for TataCDMA and Re1.00 for roaming STD(both BSNL and TataCDMA) But anyway, I got one TataDocomo Prepaid connection for my relative... I am waiting for the Postpaid connection arrival and MNP...
  12. Tata Docomo Launched

What are the roaming charges??? Is it also 1p/sec or 1Re/min?? Whether roaming charges are same in Tatas network and in other's network or different?? I believe it shoulb be different.. Then by how much ???? Please tell us, Ramesh ...
  13. Spice Mobiles Launches D-88 Gold !

I am new user of this Spice D88-Gold... It cost me Rs7400/- Accessories incl. are 512MB MicroSD card with driver, Stereo audio cable, 2 batteries, One charger and a data (USB) cable.. Disadvantages:- 1) GSM network coverage is CRAPPY... I have tested it with BSNL, Airtel and Vodafone... 2) CDMA network coverage is GOOD... But the audio is very low in both sides... This is not so in GSM connection.. 3) Battery life is OK.. I emptied 2 batteries (thats why they give 2) for a full day.. But my usage is about 2 to 3 hours a day 4) NO FLIGHT MODE or MULTIMEDIA MODE, its either G or C or G+C or C+G only... 5) Display quality on direct sunlight is aawwwkkk... I am in travel most of a day... 6) RAM size TOO SMALL.. I loaded a small JAVA game (size 64KB), I cant even finish a game... 7) Keys are too flat for fast typing... 8) Default sounds are again aawwwkkkk... I just sent my nokia-desi and nokia-default tones by BT.. 9) FM Reception is CRAPPY... 10) BSNL GPRS settings are not given.. (All other GSM operators' are available) 11) Too many button press needed to dial a call in non-default network... 12) Too costly for its features.. (I got for Rs7400) 13) When display goes off, the first key pressed is forgotten or its used to awake phone.. 14) Camera is again aaawwwkkkk... They should have removed camera and add BIGGER BATTERY instead... 15) The rubber flaps covering USB/charger port, card, 2.5mm audio jack are not as sturdy as SAMSUNG's 16) CRAPPY software of CHINESE phones inside... Thats all for now... Will add some later, when I got time...
  14. Please suggest a basic Cdma Mobile

If you really dont need a display in a phone, I can give you my SAMSUNG RAAGA handset, working very fine, battery good and even network is good in some remote areas.. It has display liquid spilled out as per your requirement... PM me for price..!! Else if you are so serious, go for MotoFone F3c, that has a crappy digital clock style LED display, that cant be considered as a display IMHO... Its coming from Tata for Rs900/- (I think with some offer) and is available in Sivakasi even now...
  15. Please Suggest Low End Handset

Nokia 2865, 2112... But both are unavailable now and you have to try used ones or refurbished ones... I dont think any CDMA phones apart from NOKIA has good coverage and battery backup.. Believe me.. I travel a lot and am using TataIndicom while roaming... I have used Nokia 2280 x3, 2112 x2, 2865 x3, 6235, 6265, 6275, a flipOne forgot its name, Samsung Hero, Boss(Reliance), Raaga, Explorer, DUO, 2ON, SPICE D88-Gold, LG RD2030(Reliance), Chinese GSM+CDMA x 2, ZTE, HUAWEI--3 models dont know/bother their names... Everything except Nokia models, leaks battery charge like Buckets with Hole@Bottom while travelling in train... Just my 2 cents... U think and decide...
  16. China Mobile Gsm + Gsm + Cdma

These CHINESE people will even make cellphones with 55 SIM slots, out of which 22 is CDMA and 33 is GSM, BUT WHAT THAT REALLY MEANS???? HOW LONG WILL BE THE BATTERY TIME????? Only for people who gets calls upto 10 mins a day can use it till end of a day... Consider carrying this SO CALLED PHONE, WITH all 3 SIMS loaded and travelling in a TRAIN, outside the CITY, where coverage will not be same for those 3 networks....!!! It CANNOT last even one hour also....
  17. Vodafone Gprs Settings For Tata Indicom 8830

You have Reliance/Tata's BlackBerry or Bought from Sadikk????? Because I thought till now that, only in sadikk's BB8830, the GSM is unlocked and not so in Tata's/Reliance's BlackBerry... Our friend is talking about Tata's BB8830, I think... These fellows (Tata/Reliance) are supposed to lock the GSM part in their respective handsets, isn't it... I will be happy, if I am proved wrong (Using any other GSM sim in Tatas BB8830 and that too for GPRS)...
  18. Nokia 8208 Cdma : Coming Soon

Only one correction.... Not ONE year.... That is actually TWO or THREE years...
  19. I think, they are here to sell the SPECTRUM they got for themselves in BLACK to other major operators who are suffering from network congestions due to waiting for SPECTRUM from government...????? Since NumberPortability is about to arrive, they will get good rates now... Just a thought ... Otherwise, what is the need to wait after been alloted spectrum and not even spending one paise in advertisment or getting subscribers???
  20. Tata Docomo Launched

In my humble opinion, 60p/min IS MUCH COSTLIER THAN 1p/sec... Because NOT ALL CALLS ends in 60 secs.. It should be atleast either 40p/min to compete with Docomo's 1p/sec... My BSNL postpaid Plan525 tariff is in 15 sec pulse and 40p/min for any local, that is 10p/15 sec... So far only this tarif will be better than Docomo's tariff.. It is best suited for both SHORT AS WELL AS LONG conversations.. For very long conversations there is CUG... But the catch here is Rental Rs525.. But as a heavy user like me the bundled Rs300 free usage(Local/STD), 55 MB FREE GPRS, 300 min ROAMING INCOMING FREE, 15p/15sec STD, CUG, 20p/min to 2 LandLines, VAST COVERAGE even in rural areas, prevents from choosing from DoCoMo... But for all other users (almost 99% o total users), DoCoMos current tarif is BEST suited...
  21. Tata Docomo Postpaid Plans

Excuse me.. I have one small doubt... In Plan499, calls to Tata is 1p/2sec.. OK.. Here Tata means both TataGSM AND TataCDMA or just the TataGSM ????? Though I highlt doubt it may be TataGSM only for now, are there any chance for (using additional package NOW or LATER) adding TataCDMA to CUG...??? Further any info on ROAMING tariff (Wherever possible) within South India??? Thank you...
  22. Tata Tele To Launch Gsm Services Soon

My Nokia E90 shows the following networks in Sivakasi, TamilNadu... 1) Cellone 2) Ind 20 3) Aircel 4) IND 044 5) Vodaphone IN 6) Airtel I came to know that Idea, Reliance GSM has already started in main cities incl. Madurai... May be TataGSM or TataDoCoMo has not started its services here in my Town... Now the sky is too crowded now with upto 7 to 8 2G GSM operators and 2-3 CDMA operators (Incl that omlet egg MTS -- Russian GSM major)... But I dont think the late entrants can make huge profits now... Because if Number-portability starts, even old big players will suffer from some cut in margins... And late entry people have to attract customers in old network by giving very low tariff, which will further dips their margin.. Further attracting old n/w customers with best of new services, especially 3G, will be difficult, as those customers will still prefer their old networks services at first hand, IMHO...
  23. Chinese Phone Could Ring Trouble

By giving IMEI to IMEI-less phones, we can guess that, Government is NOT even now want to stop the import of chinese phones here in India... These people are responsible for our security.... Only GOD can help we Indians...
