  1. That's interesting as Verizon is stating something else... HTC let's VERIZON control the distrubution of Official Updates for the Incredible, here are 2 links on the Verizon website telling/describing how to OTA via Wifi. It's also there for the Incredible 2 so I'm assuming it's accurate. It worked for me once before, prior to when I became rooted and s-off. As I am s-off and rooted I cannot/do not want now try to verify. Hopefully it will work for whomever trys. http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=31046 http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/incredible_instructions.pdf regards
  2. I had upgraded my Incredible (at that time Non- Rooted and S-ON) from 2.1 to 2.2 via OTA. I put the phone in Air Plane mode, turned on Wifi and the OTA came through. The phone did not have a Verizon MDN attached to it, but had and still does have a Clean ESN/MEID on Verizon. I also recall reading somewhere that Verizon said that those who were roaming internationally did not have to worry about huge data roaming cost because they could OTA via Wifi. Perhaps this has changed since Oct. 2010 though, or this OTA is different. I will defer this to those more technical and experienced than I. Regards
  3. Hi Friends. Does anyone know of a software (that they can share) or website that can create a NV Data file to be used via CW 2.7 to program phones for 1x Data and EVDO? I found a web link (unable to post the url) that I used a couple of months ago but it is no longer working. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  4. I have a Dump File that I had created for Data a few months back from the now off-line website. Can someone point me to a weblink or PM (if you dont want to post info here) me pointers or how to change/modify this file with the information of a new phone (new Username, Password, MDN)? I'm a new to this level of phone programming and a non-techie (i've only done phone rooting, and set the NV Data file once with the file I mentioned above). So any help is really really appreciated! Thanks,
  5. Should'nt you be able to Update via WiFi and going to the Phones Settings-->About phone--> System Update ?
  6. That's unfortunate that some were misusing the said site/link. I also would repsectfully request the owner of the site/link to start the link. Perhaps there is a way/process that can be implemented to let genuine users get access to it while not allowing opportunistic users access to it? Maybe through a username / password method?

  8. Hi everyone. Does someone know how I can unlock the GSM Radio (Sim unlock) on a Verizon World phone (CDMA/GSM phone)? I have a HTC Incredible 2 that I need to GSM unlock. I don't have a Verizon account so I can't call Verizon for an unlock code (they also require that one has an account with them for 90+days to give the unlock code). Buying and using a XTC-Clip is very expensive and cumbersome only to unlock the GSM Radio. And third party unlockers in the US are expensive for this as well and I'm not sure if thier codes will work guaranteed without locking the GSM radio permanently (after several tries of wrong codes I've heard the GSM Radio will lock and only Verizon can then reactivate/unlock. I'm not sure if this is true.) Any help /tips/pointers greatly appreciated! Thanks, ghanshyam. .
  9. guys, thanks for the offers. I'll contact you once I'm back in India. thanks again!
  10. New Rooting / S-Off Tool

I followed the directions on xda-developers.com link that i provided and also got SU user App installed via SD card on my phone, so I believe my phone is rooted as well. Perhaps this is a new function of the latest release of the tool.
  11. Hi Friends, I'm trying to make some EVDO setting changes on my phone. I have the NV file with these settings to write. However, I cannot find any info on how to load the NVDump file into CDMA Workshop 2.7 so that I can write this to my phone. I had found a document detailing this on another site, but the link no longer works. Can some one point me to some info on how to do this, or if you could explain how do this? Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks, gjp.
  12. Sorry forgot to mention the HW. Was multi-taksing too many things... Phone is HTC Incredible. I'm using Win XP 32 bit. Any ideas as what might be the issue, or what I may have not done correctly? Reposting the situation I'm in again here: CDMA WS is not detecting the phone. I put the phone Diag mode then connected it to my PC. The phone is in USB Debugging mode. I can't see my phone on the Com Ports in my PC. I don't think my PC is finding my phone. I do see the ADB and HTC Diag (when I right click inthis it says error Code 1) in the Other devices of Device Manager. Any thing I could be doing wrong or missed? It might be a driver problem, I'm using the drivers I got from Unrevoked. thanks, >> ISSUE SOLVED. It was driver issues. I loaded the drivers that Dhirajbhai posted and was able to detect my phone in CDMA WS. Thanks DKAILE for posting the drivers! WS

^^ Thanks Dipan! This is very helpful for non-techies like me.
  16. International Roaming

I'm going to be traveling to the US in a few days and wanted to know somethings: 1. Would I be able to use my phone there (on international roaming) with no issues with Verizon since the phone was originally a Verizon phone? Also the phone had a Clean ESN when I got it (atleast that is what I was told). 2. Would updating the PRL of the phone be possible since I had the phone made to work on Reliance? I assume I can update the PRL using the standard Reliance procedures? 3. Is it possible to some how turn off the Cell Radio on the phone and just use the Wifi radio? Ala, like an "iPod Touch"... Thanks, gjp
  17. All Kind of Softwares

@tanveer. thanks for the website info. it's a really good/comprehensive site. although i could not find Auto Gordian Knot, i'll try some of the other stuff there... thanks gjp
  18. International Roaming

@ Hi Dr.Mufaddal, That's good to hear. Where can I get the International Roaming PRL for my HTC Incredible (handset is Reliance programmed handset)? Can someone who has it PM the file/PRL to me? Also, I'm not sure how to load the PRL (I've always updated the PRL via instructions from Reliance website). I'm still here in the US for a few days and would like to see if I can get my Incredible to work here via International Roaming. That way I need only have 1 phone on my next international trip to a CDMA friendly country.... Thanks, gjp
  19. Hi. I'm wondering if anyone else has been getting this occurance on thier phone and found how to fix it. I have phone numbers programmed on my phone in the stock dialer. When I am on another call and I get another incoming call on call-waiting I can see who the caller is if I have the number/name programmed in my phone. However, if I don't answer the second in-coming call and let the call miss the call show as missed with no name identification to it. This is very annoying because then I have to search all the numbers or remeber who's number it is to call back or to avoid! Example - Caller XYZ with phone number 12345 calls when I'm on another call it will show as in-coming caller XYZ in the call-waiting mode. If I dont asnwer the call it then shows as missed call 12345 in the missed calls with no name associated to it. regards, g
  20. All Kind of Softwares

Hi. Happy belated New Year everyone! I'm looking for DVD Copying/backup software, free versions. I have DVD Shrink, DVDfab Plantinum, and DVD Decryptor. But these are not getting the job done. I have some cool movies that I'd like to backup on my PC and move to my HTC Incredible to watch on the go! Can anyone help me with this? Sincerly, gjp
  21. International Roaming

well, here's the scenario. as per dkaile's experience/intuition my incredible is not connecting to any US carrier's network. i do have international roaming activated on reliance account. my reliance bought phone, Samsung Duos Touch W299, DOES connect onto verizon's network and i am able to make calls from it. my incredible does have a clean esn, it was verified when bought. i did not upgrade the PRL on my htc incredible before i left india so that might be the case. however, i'm not sure that is the issue. it's probably the way it has to programmed to work on reliance. if someone can send the latest PRL (with international cell tower info) from reliance for international roaming & instructions how to manually load the PRL. i will try that and see if the phone works.
  22. International Roaming

@dkaile, thanks for the insight. Since the phone was made to work for me by our famous Dr. and is programmed would I be able to update the PRL by following Reliance instructions to SMS 53733 and dialing *228 ? I'll try the phone there. If it works it works, if it dose'nt then no problem. As long as the phone will work when I get back to India, no issues. thanks, gjp
  23. Strange Missed Call Phenomenon On Incredible

@ami1 - great advice, LOL... could have used it a few days ago.... @ashoksoft - Not sure I want to go the route of installing a custom rom. I've got the android 2.2 installed so I should have the latet radio installed. I think this is more an issue of the stock Dialer App than of the Radio. I could be wrong though... thanks for the tip though...
  24. Put Your Android On Your Lan

I was having connectivity problems using the LAN feature on EStrongs too. You have to have to enable "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" on your Wifi Connection of LAN Connection (which ever or both, you are using) of you PC. Double click on your Wifi / LAN connection, go to Properties and then make sure the Check Box for 'File and Printer Shareing for Microsoft Networks" is filled. This worked for me. gjp
