  1. Non SMS Stuff

Two young guys appear in court after being arrested for smoking dope. The judge says, "You seem like nice young men, and I'd like to give you a second chance instead of jail time. I want you to go out this weekend and try to convince others of the evils of drug use. I'll see you back in court Monday." On Monday, the judge asks the first guy, "How did you do over the weekend?" "Well, your honor, I persuaded 17 people to give up drugs forever." "Seventeen people? That's wonderful. How did you do it?" "I used a diagram, your honor. I drew two circles like this: O o. Then I told them that the big circle is your brain before drugs and the small circle is your brain after drugs." "That's admirable," says the judge. Then he turns to the second guy. "And how did you do?" "Well, your honor, I persuaded 156 people to give up drugs forever." "Wow!" says the judge. "156 people! How did you manage to do that?" "Well, I used a similar diagram," the guy says. "I drew two circles like this: o O. Then I pointed to the little circle and said, 'This is your a***hole before prison..................
  2. Whew!!! If the mobile is rooted, then also so much pain? In my rooted Photon, not so much of a problem. That's why I said, Whew!!! BTW, if the price is in Usd, our credit card still gets billed in Inr. So, what's the problem? Sorry for the ignorance... Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2

  4. Thanks for the tutorial!!! Saw it as soon as you had posted it, but felt lazy to work on it. Today I once again saw your latest tutorial and then thought, let me take the plunge. All Done, but the carrier name now says, "Roaming Indicator Off" I have followed your instructions to the T, something else I did wrong? My mobile is rooted, I used ES File explorer to extract, copy, paste eri.xml to \data and mark all the 9 permissions (6 of read and write were already marked, I had to tick the remaining 3 of execute). Any ideas? All operations are normal - voice, data, sms, mails, browsing etc P.S.: in your new tutorial, MIP Error for me shows 98 - missing_home_agent. I have not put into effect your guide so far as you have shown MIP Error 67. And yes, are the gray lines also to be done by us? Or are you referring to the tutorial? If we do have to go the gray and the red lines, procedure? Finally Congrats and All the Best for Th3Bill on JB Builds for Photon4G.

@nitink, Anything similar for Photon 4G? My device is rooted... Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
  6. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

In my ICS SONY ERICSSON GSM mobile, delivery reports are working well even in the native sms app. I have installed go sms also and it is my default sms app. Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
  7. Reliance EVDO Rev B. Multicarrier - Reliance Pro 3

Just now received a SMS from Reliance as follows: - Dear Customer, due to server upgrade you may face difficulty in Data Services on 20/7/2012 (6.30 AM to 11.30AM IST) in international roaming. Reliance. Is it connected to the above RevB upgrade? And the above SMS is meant for international roamers on CDMA? or there is something I did not get right?
  8. Has any operator relaxed the 200 sms limit as yet? Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
  9. Motorola Photon 4G Tegra Dual Core World Phone

There is mention on xda that Photon Torpedo method will restore root access even in the new release. Not too sure though as someone has got success with Torpedo while some have reported failure, maybe also due to wrong implementation. Anyway better to wait and watch rather than hurry and end in hell.
  10. @vvinayakpai, Thats a pretty good offer for RGSM customers, though its sad that RCOM is now ignoring RCDMA all India. Hope they don't shut down RCDMA, even though I was very much predicting the same about 2 years back. And now RCOM has made Karnataka as its guinea pig for all new offers, earlier it was TN. @kanaga, I do not face much problems with RGSM in Chennai as such, not too sure about rest of TN and also India. I feel 2G data on RGSM is better than on Voda/Airtel/Aircel. The worst of the lot is Airtel. Sometimes, I do experience poor call quality but thats inherent in GSM. My only problem with RCOM is the lackadaisical and nincompoopish attitude of their CC and their WW people. They can always strengthen RGSM network when they wind up RCDMA, if at all they really do so. Remember Hutch (now Voda) also took about 5 years to grow from scratch in TN and Chennai. I remember the days when we had to go outdoors to receive calls on our Skycell (now Airtel) mobiles / RPG (now Aircel) mobiles.
  11. Best Of Internet

@ Rajan, I think you will not need to take this course at all. You are a CID by default. Maybe you can teach Dan Russell some new tricks.
  12. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

  13. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

you must be using it on an imported handset. Yes I am using it on my Photon 4G and Citibank IN is not available on GPS on CDMA Mobiles but available for all GSM mobiles. I had a lengthy fight with Citibank for ignoring CDMA users for this app in INIDA, whereas in US it is available. But they did not understand the problem and could not help me out at all. Now my work is done, thanks to Chirag and Amit Routray. All's well now.
  14. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

@ Chirag, Thanks a ton, bro... Installed it and works absolutely flawlessly. I had a very long fight with Citibank people for ignoring CDMA in India when in US it is the best network and is available there. So you are also a Citibank customer, good to know that we share something in common..... @amitroutray, Thanks, bro for the toutorial. Have now got it and also d/l'd Citibank IN apk from citibank webite as per Chirag's post and its working now. Thanks buddies, I wasted almost 6 months trying to make Citibank work on my Photon. I should have posted here earlier and I would have been better off.
  15. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

Can anyone help me with Citibank IN app? It is available from my GSM phone but not from my RCDMA mobile. No idea why. And how to extract the apk using AirDroid? or any other app? TIA
  16. @dev If you can take a Reliance connection, you can try relianceglobalcall, their charges are very reasonable and the talktime validity is for life time. More info at http://www.relianceglobalcall.com. You can use any reliance phone for using this - it can even be your neighbours phone. There is a PIN dialling, so you will not lose any balance. If you have an Android phone, you also have PIN less dialling, which you can activate if the phone is yours, but yes, the connection has to be RCOM - either RCDMA or RGSM. Check the website or call TF 1800 200 1005 and see the ISD rates for various combinations and permutations. If you are happy, you can try it out.
  17. Doubt if it is possible to find it out officially unless you know someone who can do this for you unofficially.
  18. I am only talking about prepaid RCDMA and RGSM... When I went to Europe in Ma, I enquired and got the reply that RCOM does not provide IR in prepaid either RCDMA or RGSM also,.
  19. Thanks, RM done for now.... with 40420 as I am unable to open the link provided by you. Does it matter that I have to enter Chennai MCC-MNC codes or any code will do? I know this may be a stupid query because all India will have only one pricing in GPS, but still asking... 1 doubt - if we restart the mobile, then everytime do we have to re-set the MCC-MNC code? No workarounds for this? +1
  20. Does MTS provide GSM also? or is it that you had already got the international roaming SIM (GSM) from MTS? And does MTS provide international roaming in prepaid? RCOM till date does not provide IR on even RCDMA, leave alone RGSM both prepaid. Secondly, if IR was not activated prior to departure, I think it may be difficult to activate it now. Maybe you will need copies of your brother's PP, Visa etc. RCOM insists on these at the time of IR activation. Maybe if you have all these copies also, you will further need authorisation from your brother in your favour to enable MTS to activate IR. Not too sure about MTS procedures... You will need to contact someone with more knowledge on MTS. Finally, why not try Matrix or Uniconnect or Magellan or Reliance World SIM? All these are far, far cheaper than the current IR charges of any existing Indian cellcos. I visited Europe for 15 days in May 2012 and I used both Matrix postpaid and Uniconnect prepaid. At that time, Uniconnect offered free incoming, now they have started charging i/c. Matrix postpaid bill came to Rs 16.5k whereas I used Uniconnect for all i/c calls and my total prepaid bill came to Rs. 2.5k. I used up the TT on my Uniconnect as the Sales man told me not to bring back any balance. Even then, the call charges were very, very reasonable as compared to Matrix. In your case, maybe you will have to apply for the connection in your name (but that's not possible as they will require Visas, PP etc) You can call the Matrix or Uniconnect guy over to your place and discuss it out. All the best.
  21. Great Initiative, Shreesh.... Keep it coming...
  22. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Smart App Updates will be the most welcome feature as we waste a lot of data updating apps every month.
  23. ^^^ You caught me on the wrong foot, Kanaga.... Thanks for pointing it out. Am growing older, ha ha ha.... You are absolutely right, I should have typed Rs. 0.001 per SMS instead of 0.001 paisa. And your calculations are correct - I am indeed being charged 1 paisa for 10 SMS by the above SMS charges. Yes and RCOM is definitely watching RW very very keenly. And after reading this, they will start charging Rs 10 per SMS (no typo now - ha ha ha) to recover the above losses.
