  2. VODAFONE Fined Rs 25000 for Pesky Calls Courtesy: http://timesofindia....ow/10434425.cms MUMBAI: In a significant judgment that could benefit millions of mobile phone subscribers troubled by pesky telemarketing calls and messages, a district consumer forum last week directed Vodafone Essar Limited to pay Rs 25,000 to a doctor who had subscribed to the DNC - Do Not Call Facility - but still kept getting calls from various companies. The forum held the service provider guilty of deficiency of service and ordered it to pay Dr Ashesh Gala Rs 20,000 as compensation and Rs 5,000 towards cost of the complaint. Dr Gala, who filed a complaint in the Mumbai Suburban District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum in October 2009, owns and runs Netra Jyot Eye Care Centre, a hospital in Mulund (W). Gala had a cell phone for which Vodafone Essar Ltd were the service providers. Gala's complaint stated that many companies from the service sector would call him on his cell phone time and again and even sent him messages. To stop the calls and SMSes, Gala informed Vodafone, his service provider, and subscribed to its Do Not Call (DNC) facility in December 2007. However, despite subscribing to the service, Gala alleged he received repeated calls from a bank between July 2007 and February 2008. Aggrieved, Gala sent the bank a notice on March 3, 2008. The bank replied to the notice, apologizing to him and assuring Gala that he would not receive such calls or messages from it in future. However, since calls from various other companies continued, Gala filed a complaint with the forum citing deficiency in service and sought a compensation of Rs 50,000. Vodafone, in its reply before the forum, denied the allegations leveled against it. It further submitted that the complaint could not be entertained by the forum until the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) was made party to the complaint since DNC was a facility that was available on the national level. The service provider told the forum that under the DNC facility, there could be a drop in the number of telemarketing calls but they cannot be stopped completely. However the forum observed that as TRAI was a regulatory body and not a service provider, it could not be made party to the complaint. The forum further observed that according to TRAI regulations, once the subscriber opts for the DNC facility it is the responsibility of the service provider to see that such calls and messages are not received from companies.
  3. ^ yes both are prepaid.... AFAIK, In Postpaid, one can send 3000 SMS per month either in one shot or whichever way one likes. Correct me, if wrong.
  4. No use, nothing will come out of complaints as they use international gateways to send spam SMS' Anothr thing I wanted to point out was that beyond 100 SMS' per day, Vodafone is charging at base rates. This is totally unjustifiable and unethical. hey are enriching themselves due to this stupid TRAI rule. In my RGSM connection, I cannot send a single SMS beyond 100 SMS per day at all, no matter whatever I try to do. Atleast RCOM is not enriching themselves like the greedy Voda, No idea about the other gangsters...
  5. Diabetes

@chitaranjan sharma, Great Effort, Buddy. Keep it up and remove Diabetes from your system, you are going great. For people who have just been diagnosed with DM, this is one terrific way to reversing DM - by following a good diet, good exercise plan and most importantly, a very good sleep pattern. Many people get DM due to irregular sleep patterns and the resulting stress. Keep it up and thanks for sharing your experience here. It will definitely enlighten and motivate many here.
  6. Non SMS Stuff

REBIRTH Angel Gabriel came to the Lord and said: 'I have to talk to you. We have some Indians up here in heaven and they are causing problems. ‘They’re swinging on the pearly gates, my horn is missing, they are wearing Dolce and Gabana saris instead of their white robes; they are riding Mercedes and BMWs instead of the chariots, and they’re selling their halos to people for discounted prices. ‘They refuse to keep the stairway to Heaven clear or clean, since they keep crouching down midway eating samosas and drinking tea. Some of them are even walking around with just one wing! ‘They do not believe in any form of discipline, and push their way through the line.' The Lord said, ‘Indians are Indians! Heaven is home to all my children! If you want to know about real problems, give Satan a call.’ Gabriel rang up Satan. Satan answered the phone, ‘Hello? Damn! Hold on a minute.’ Satan returned to the phone, ‘Ok, I’m back. What can I do for you?’ Gabriel replied, ‘I just wanted to know what kind of problems you’re having down there.’ Satan says, ‘Hold on again. I need to check on something.’ After about 5 minutes Satan returns to the phone and said, ‘I'm back. Now what was the question?’ Gabriel said, ‘What kind of problems are you having down there?’ Satan says, ‘Man I don’t believe this .. Hold on.’ This time Satan was gone at least 15 minutes. He returned and said, ‘I’m sorry Gabriel, I can’t talk right now. These Indians are trying to install air conditioning, and making hell a comfortable place to live in by putting out the fire, which is there to keep them uncomfortably hot! Since they are so tech savvy, they were trying to start a telephone and IT connection between heaven and hell; between ME and GOD! They have started a social network service for the troubled, and believe in Karma, and are good in convincing others. Some were trying to start a Chai - pakora, Chole-batura, channa, Dosa and samosa, barfi, Chakli and Dokla shop, which I had to stop. ‘As a penalty, I stopped feeding them for three days. Man, they celebrated this with great fervor! Now, they are demanding this every year, and have termed it as Upvas. One guy even made a big show of this in my punishment hall, claiming he is purifying his soul. Boy, I had a hell of a trouble handling the enormous crowd that came to witness this. Even I didn’t know that hell’s population is so huge. ‘Many have no trouble living in dirt, as they are so used to it down on earth. We have shortage of toilets to make them uncomfortable; but they have no problems in doing everything outside in open. ‘They are excellent in corrupting everyone, and my staff are being continuously bribed by them for something or the other. I have difficulty in controlling the graft and corruption in Hell. They have now started a massive campaign that my government is corrupt! ‘For the Indians, this place seems to be better from where they came. I am having such a hard time controlling and dealing with these people! ‘I am therefore requesting you, ‘Oh Lord, please send them back to earth as soon as they arrive here.’ And this is the secret behind REBIRTH.
  7. Like the younger sibling, the elder one also is sleeping, sleeping, sleeping....
  8. According to ET, NDTV etc, the operators will take a hit of Rs 2500 to Rs 3000 crores if roaming rates are nullified. They will find newer ways to fleece you to recover more than 4 to 6 times the above amount. And out of this, you all know who will get a cut!!! Yes you guessed it right, Uncle will make some moolah out of this proposal. And No Anna will be able to touch him even with a barge-pole. Ha Ha and all you folks are getting very happy about no roaming charges and PAN India MNP?
  9. wowieeeeeee Only Chennai and Kolkata have 2.5GB valid for 30 days at Rs 63, ha ha ha - what about the speeds -snail like, I suppose? They went about beating their chests that theirs is the only full EDGE and 3G ready network when they launched RGSM and the results are there for everyone to see today. GPRS speeds are a joke everywhere across India, maybe except in Delhi (as vouched elsewhere on this forum by amit jain). Vodafone 2G is really superb all over India AFAIK.
  10. ha ha ha all solutions are useless in the long term, here in the shortest term.... Serious marketers can cock-a-snoop at TRAI and GoI now with the above solution....
  11. Steve Jobs Dies Aged 56

  13. Want To Send More Than 100 SMS Courtesy: ET http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/news-by-industry/telecom/want-to-send-more-than-100-smses-read-this-text/articleshow/10189572.cms NEW DELHI: If the telecom regulator's restriction allowing only 100 SMSes a day is ruining your late-night messaging spree with your friends (after all, you need each one of them), fret not. There are several options that offer a richer communication environment, unlimited messaging, and, are available for free. All you need is a smartphone, a free application and a basic data plan that can start as low as 99 per month. A slew of applications - both proprietary and platform-agnostic - are available in the market. The best-known is the BlackBerry Messenger, known to all fans of the brand as BBM. Two people with BlackBerry phones can chat for free with each other no matter where in the world they are, and that too, in an encrypted environment. This was the feature that had raised the hackles of India's home ministry and dominated the headlines earlier this year. Like many other messengers, BBM offers emoticons, real-time delivery and read receipts, among other features. Apple is expected to offer a proprietary messaging platform in the upcoming iOS5 operating system. Called iMessage (obviously), it will connect users of iPhones, iPad and iPod Touch. With this, Apple fanboys might restrict their social interactions to other Apple users. But at a time Android devices and other platforms are steadily eating into proprietary smartphone monopolies, cross-platform messenger apps are rising in popularity. These apps are free and unhindered and offer many additional features such as group chat, multimedia messaging and push notifications. The only two requirements are that you need to have a data connection on your phone and your friends need to have the same app installed on their handset. Here are a few of the popular ones. Kik is completely free and available for iOS, Android or Windows phones. With Kik, you get real-time delivery and read receipts when you send a message to a contact. It also allows you to have a group chat or share photos with your contacts. LiveProfile is totally free too and available for iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices. Besides offering unlimited messaging, it also integrates with social networks such as Twitter and Facebook to figure out which of your friends are already using it. PingChat is available for iOS, BlackBerry and Android. You can send regular text, photos and video messages for free to up to ten people at a time. Since RockeTalk is available as either a Symbian or Java app, it works on almost any device - including most smartphones and feature phones. It does regular data and photo messaging, but RockeTalk is different from the others because it includes communities where you can browse content shared by others. Finally, WhatsApp has support for iPhone, Android, Symbian and BlackBerry. There's one key difference between WhatsApp and all the others. The others use a PIN, username or some sort of unique identifier - you have to add friends you want to chat with. WhatsApp reads the address book in your phone and automatically identifies which of your contacts is using WhatsApp - because each account is linked to a phone number and SIM card. That's also why WhatsApp is not supported on the iPad and iPod Touch. WhatsApp is also the only messenger that's not completely free - you get one year of free usage, after which you pay $1.99 for every year of unlimited usage. Other advantages include support for offline messages location sharing and complete chat history.
