  1. @ Mr. Rao, Your table shows Chennai as not Available, whereas it is available for TN. AFAIK, Chennai and RoTN is one single circle for both CDMA as well as GSM. Correct me if wrong. And in Chennai, this offer of STV24 has been around for more than a month and a half now. Some dealer had told me about this. Another good thing is that All India, the TN offer seems to be the best.

  6. Call CC and tell them you have a WM, they will ask you the model - tell yr model (they are ignorant nincompoops, so don't worry if yr mobile is a nokia or a lg or a palm or a htc android etc) Next they will ask you for IMEI number (this is the best joke with RCOM - they want IMEI for CDMA - you can give them your ESN or MEID or whatever - they will accept it. Only thing is you should not waver in your talks and you should be very firm and polite if possible. Someone may call you from DAKC, Mumbai to confirm all details. You should just say yes to every detail that you have already submitted. You are thus subscribed to WMPlan.... enjoyyyyyyyyyyyyy... BTW, I surrendered my WMPlan as I have L1 and my usage is only below 100MB. Check with other seniors as well on the process before you strictly follow what I have posted here. I got my WM plan almost a year back, a lot of water has passed since then, so be careful.
  7. Thanks Ravi... Unfortunately, I use MTS only and not RCOM or TI for that matter. And my usage is mostly in Chennai only. Or maybe the top metros. As far as interiors are concerned, I believe Kanaga Deepan should be able to help out pasu. In Chennai, the MTS network is good but the speeds are not all that encouraging and there are ups and downs. And I haven't used the data card for the last 2 months or so, so my opinions/remarks may not be that valid.

Got my Doves today thro' 1st Flight. Earlier they emailed me saying 360 was in problems and they had to re-courier it thro' 1st Flight instead of DTDC. Anyway, the packing is good, new stocks - Apr'11 mfd, May'11 packed and 3 x 100gms bars valued at Rs 143 MRP. Overall a very good buy except for the undue delay in delivery....

  12. As net debt piles up to $7 bn, Reliance Communication faces key test MUMBAI: The clock is ticking and costs are seen rising for Reliance Communications Ltd as it struggles to reduce a $7 billion mountain of debt ahead of a major bond redemption next year. Shares in India's No. 2 mobile carrier, controlled by Anil Ambani , who ranked 36th on last year's Forbes global rich list, dropped to a record low this week leaving the company valued at $4.3 billion. Six straight quarters of falling profits as a tough telecoms market squeezes margins and failed attempts to raise cash are eroding investor confidence in the company, which faces tests with $1.2 billion in convertible debt falling due. "The competitive landscape for telecoms firms in India is very tough and that's a problem for Reliance as well," said Lars Hemmingsen, a Copenhagen-based portfolio manager at Nordea Intia, which manages $260 million worth of Indian shares. "What makes the matter worse for them is huge debt on the balance sheet and weak cash flow. You also have these negative news headlines hitting investor confidence in the firm," said Hemmingsen, who does not hold Reliance Communications shares. In February, Ambani became the highest-profile executive to be questioned by federal police investigating a telecoms fraud that state auditors say cost the government $39 billion in lost revenues. No executives from Reliance Communications have been charged and the company has denied any wrongdoing. Last year, Reliance Communications attempted to sell a 26 percent stake in itself to pare debt. But it found no takers. A plan to float its tower unit in an initial public offering also failed to take off and a deal to merge its tower arm with a rival collapsed. Reliance Communications is battling a fast-growing but ferociously competitive Indian cellular market in which call charges have fallen and operational costs have risen, triggering declines in margins, while regulatory worries have also increased. The shares have fallen about 35 percent this year, making them the eighth worst performer globally among large capitalised firms. On Feb 9 alone, shares in six companies of Reliance ADA, Ambani's conglomerate, dropped suddenly to wipe $2.5 billion off its market value. The billionaire blamed "baseless and motivated rumours" for the drop. DEBT TEST The cost of insuring against debt default in Reliance Communications through credit default swaps (CDS) has risen 90 basis points this year to 525 basis points. That's an insurance premium of $525,000 for every $10 million of debt and has risen as markets focused on about $1.2 billion of convertible bonds in Reliance Communications that will mature by March 2012. "If you look globally, the appetite for new issues is pretty low and this company has so many problems. I think the terms of refinancing would be stiff because the company's cash flow continues to be very weak," said Thorsten Vetter, a portfolio manager at Flossbach & Von Storch in Cologne, Germany, who last year sold Reliance Communications bonds maturing in 2012. Two convertible bonds are due over the next 12 months but investors are unlikely to convert their holdings into equity following the fall in the share price to 93 rupees. A $297 million bond due in May has a conversion price of Rs 475. A $925 million bond maturing in March 2012 has a conversion price of Rs 654. Since the bonds are out of the money at current prices, the firm is likely to have to shell out about $374 million for the 2011 bond and $1.2 billion for the 2012 debt. The 2011 convertible bonds are bid at 122-123 in secondary markets versus the redemption price of 125.84, while investors are more cautious about the 2012s, which are bid at 114.25-114.75 versus their 127.69 redemption price. A Reliance Communications spokesman declined to comment on the company's plan to reduce its debt burden. During an analysts call in February, Satish Seth, group managing director of Reliance ADA Group, said the company was evaluating several options. WEAKENING CASH FLOWS, HIGH DEBT Reliance Communication's net debt to EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) is seen at 4.8 times in the year ending March 31, Thomson Reuters data show. This compares to just under 3 times at bigger rival Bharti Airtel and 2.8 times at Idea Cellular . "It doesn't make sense to lend to this company any more. It needs a serious equity injection," said a senior Singapore-based loans banker who covers Indian deals, who was not authorised to speak to the media on the record. An equity issue, however, would be painfully dilutive, given that Reliance Communications shares have tumbled nearly 90 percent from their 2008 peak . JPMorgan recently slashed the company's share price target for December by 49 percent to 82 rupees, citing concern about high leverage and the cost of a possible refinancing of $1.2 billion of bonds maturing by March 2012. "First they will have to set their house in order before they start looking for strategic investors," Hemmingsen of Nordea Intia said. "There is always a buyer for a right price and transactions do happen despite a lot of headwinds." Despite the troubles, some banks are not shying away from lending to the company, Reliance Communications signed a deal with China Development Bank in December for a $1.93 billion 10-year, syndicated loan. "OUGH" in words:- COUGH,DOUGH,PLOUGH. There are a few more with sounds fitting into one of these three categories. I think a retired English teacher was bored. THIS IS GREAT! Read all the way to the end................ This took a lot of work to put together! You think English is easy?? 1) The bandage was wound around the wound. 2) The farm was used to produce produce. 3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse. 4) We must polish the Polish furniture. 5) He could lead if he would get the lead out. 6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert. 7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present. 8) A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum. 9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes. 10) I did not object to the object. 11) The insurance was invalid for the invalid. 12) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row. 13) They were too close to the door to close it. 14) The buck does funny things when the does are present. 15) A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line. 16) To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow. 17) The wind was too strong to wind the sail. 18) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.. 19) I had to subject the subject to a series of tests. 20) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend? Let's face it - English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France . Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.. And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth, beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? One index, 2 indices? Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it? If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which, an alarm goes off by going on. English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all. That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible. PS. - Why doesn't 'Buick' rhyme with 'quick' ? You lovers of the English language might enjoy this .. There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is 'UP.' It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP ? At a meeting, why does a topic come UP? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report? We call UP our friends. And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver; we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car. At other times the little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is one thing, but to be dressed UP is special. A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP. We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night. We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP! To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions. If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP. When the sun comes out we say it is clearingUP. When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP. When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP. One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now my time is UP, so........it is time to shut UP! Now it's UP to you what you do with this.

seems to be some loose contact or wiring, check the connections. Else call a qualified electrician.
  16. Source: ToI NEW DELHI: Six years after an e-commerce CEO's arrest for a pornographic CD sold from his website, the government has introduced a liability on intermediaries such as Facebook and Google to "act within 36 hours" of receiving information about offensive content. Under the rules notified on April 11 under the Information Technology Act, the intermediaries are required to work with the internet user "to disable such information that is in contravention" of the prescribed restrictions. While most of the restrictions in the rules are based on the criminal law (stuff that is blasphemous, obscene, defamatory, paedophilic, etc), some are so loosely worded that they could easily be misused against netizens accustomed to speaking their mind freely, whether on politics or otherwise. One glaring example of an ill-thought-out provision is the prohibition on saying something that is "insulting any other nation". Since this expression has been mentioned without any qualifications, it could be invoked against anybody who talks disparagingly about other countries. Apart from encroaching on free speech, the subjective notion of insulting a nation — as opposed to valid criticism — opens scope for arbitrariness and politically motivated interpretation. The authorities may not, for instance, take action against any content that is bashing Pakistan but may be touchy about similar attacks on the US. Since such violations and the remedial action taken on them could become a subject of police probe, the rules state that "the intermediary shall preserve such information and associated records for at least 90 days for investigation purposes". Given their legal repercussions, activists termed the new rules "draconian". Pranesh Prakash of Centre of Internet and Society alleged, "The rules seek to expand government's reach to control content on the internet. This is neither reasonable nor constitutional as the rules undermine the free speech guaranteed by the Constitution." The intermediaries are also required to appoint a grievance officer and publish his contact details as well as the mechanism by which "users or any victim who suffers" can notify their complaints. The grievance officer is required to redress the complaints within one month of the receipt of the complaint. Industry sources hold that the 36-hour deadline imposed on the intermediaries to take action on complaints would unduly affect their freedom as service providers in the Indian jurisdiction. A Google spokesperson told TOI that the proposed guidelines could be "particularly damaging to the abilities of Indians who are increasingly using the internet in order to communicate, and the many businesses that depend upon online collaboration to prosper."
  17. wowieeeeeeeeeeeeee superb tariffs and FUP also is reasonably good. And plan is inclusive of tax... any idea when they will go national or atleast Chennai??????
  18. Good news for you, bad for others affected.... as all have only done regd. international post. This means it will not get delivered on time/at all and PayPal will decide in favour of the seller. Is there any lawyer amongst us who can guide us legally in this matter as I strongly feel that the way forward is to fight it out legally. But before that, lets wait and watch what PayPal says and does. @partha, if only you had posted earlier regarding your experience - both the earlier one and the latest one..... folks here would have been wary of IndiaPost........
  19. Thanks Dkaile, Today I did the same and was charged the same Rs 88 only, the weight was 23 gms only and got the same tracking PIN like you have shown. Next, entered the tracking number in Paypal's website also. Lets see what happens next. UPDATE: Got an email from PayPal wherein they have mentioned the following: - So now they say, when the item is delivered to the seller, they will refund the money. What if our India Posts gobbles it up? (they asked me to insure it, and I did not). God Save us from PayPal.
  20. Exactly the same views I also have.... I think you are mixing Ebay India & Ebay International. What graphic and rules you have put is for Ebay India not Ebay International. In case of Ebay India, Paisapay i suppose is not a different company but just the separate branding given by it for a payment mechanisam through it and all payment processing is directly through Ebay. Consequently, all disputes are handled/settled by Ebay itself and it's rules apply. Whereas for Ebay International, PAYPAL is a separate payment processing company with its own payment processing/protection system worldwide. So it has its own rules for a dispute. Here when one has a dispute and payment is through Paypal, Ebay does not come into picture at all. You are lodging the claim with PAYPAL directly & playing by its OWN rules which works in the case of HDD fraud case in the Topic. So both cases are strictly not comparable & there should be no confusion in anyone's mind about whose rules will apply where. Thanks Rajan for the clarification.... Any headway in your case? Dipan, In this HDD case, it is not a question of anyone not wanting to return the item to the seller, but it is a case of FRAUD wherein the seller has sent everyone a fake coin instead of the ultra portable HDD. And mind you, PayPal is already aware of the FRAUDSTER SELLER. This is why I have been corresponding with PayPal for the refund of cost of sending back the coins just so that their rules are also complied with. Anyway, like dkaile, I am also ready to lose the Rs 1600 and take this as a bad lesson in my life. My point is that Paypal cannot ask us to return the coin at our cost. What is our mistake in this? Of having bought through their website? What if some other Chinese tomorrows sells a US$1000 item and sends only a fake coin or maybe a very heavy junk piece of metal? And to send back this junk, if you spend more than the cost of buying the original item, where is justice? Just quoting some archaic rules is not justice. They also have to decide on the merits of the case. In this instant case, PayPal already knew of the FRAUDSTER and yet they are insisting on returning the item and that too, at our total cost? This is what riles me. Rules need to be followed no doubt, but when PayPal already knows that this is a FRAUDSTER case, they should relax rules and refund our money immediately without any further questions. This is what is my viewpoint.
  21. It is the same whether you use Via or Source or Link or Courtesy, I mostly use Source....
  22. You are very lucky to have such post offices there.... My PO is quoting ten times your rates. Anyway, did you send it back to them?
  23. Dhiraj Ji Do not loose hope , today I also received the same coin by post. I called up Paypal and was transferred to Claims Agent (Michelle). I explained her the case and then She told me that in this case my amount will be refund without any further action required from my side. I asked her, if they require I can send them pictures of Postal packet ,but She replied that they do not need any proof as the item is worthless for the amount paid for the deal. She also told that Paypal will refund 36 $ to my credit card. Also ,She told that in this none of the buyers will be loosing their amount ,its only seller who be on loosers end ,as paypal has blocked his entire amount with them including previous transactions. To all those who are affected by this please keep on your communication with Paypal through phone, mails, etc. I bought items from ebay almost close to a Lakh rupees ,but this is the first time, I have faced such issue. But it happens and I have no issue as I will be getting my money back. I have been advised by email to return the coin to beijingshi, China and report to Paypal on or before 14.05.2011 although the return address on the cover says Hongkong. I checked with the postal dept. and I was told that it will cost Rs 425 for speedpost and Rs 880 for regd. post either to Beijing or to Hongkong. Is Paypal going to refund us this postal charges? I believe they will deduct some money from our US$ 36 also. What is this about police complaint and FIR in the Police Dept's letterhead? When did they corporatise? Do they not know, this is INDIA and not US? Do we have to return the Coin or is there any other way out, as it will cost atleast Rs 425 for the lowest speedpost? Couriering will be even more expensive, AFAIK. @ All, If Paypal wants us to return the coin, they should also reimburse us the cost of returning the coin. Why they have this rule of returning a fake item at our cost? Anyone here can enlighten us on this? And why does the address differ i.e in my case, it came from Hongkong but why return it to Beijing????? Not that it matters to me as both will cost the same. Anyone else returned the coin and how much it will cost actually? Is Rs 425 correct or expensive? I thought dkaile told something like Rs 100 or so..... Do we have to actually send out the coin itself or any 25p coin (to reduce weight) also will do? Can we send out Indian coins or even the Chinese fake coin - is it legal? I mean to recover our US$ 36, we should not end up getting caught with the GoI on some vague, flimsy rule.
  24. Cable For Old LG Model (RD 2340)

Mr. Rao, AFAIK, LG ASC may not do PB Transfer if both the mobiles are not LG.... They can give a CD (or even email you) containing the Excel or CSV format... @OMitav, AFAIK, I think any USB or even non-USB cable supporting the older LG mobiles will work in your case. Look/Ask around, some of your neighbours will be definitely using a LG Mobile. I have used many models of LG and found that the same USB cable supports even my FWP LG LSP350R as well as all my LG Mobiles (except the oldest RD 2030) including RD6000. Try it out, it should work. Alternately, you can ask LG ASC to give you a PB Backup in Excel format or CSV format, you can then use the file to transfer from your computer or laptop to your new mobile.
  25. I too have emailed PayPal on the exact sequence of events and have also informed them about my legal rights and asked them to suggest me the way out. I got back an automated reply informing me that they will get back to me within 24 hours or max 72 hours depending on my questions. Lets hope that they reply properly.
