Reliance CDMA Prepaid Data Plans | Newly Launched Unified Plans
mywebid replied to @mitJ@in's topic in Data services
Am unable to locate these plans on RCOM site... The unified CDMA data plans listed on site at http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/rworld/HTML/MobileNet.html are different (direct link - http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/rworld/HTML/CDMA_Erecharge.html) . Can anyone please point me to these plans on RCOM site? Just wanted to be sue before I put in money that I would get this data benefit. The E-recharge from RCOM site to prepaid CDMA does not list even the ones in the RCOM site. It only list the new 94 recharge. I wanted to recharge for 5GB/30 days pack as mentioned by Amit ji in first post. Would recharging online my prepaid number with 801 through third party recharge websites work and I would get 5 GB for 30 days? Please suggest. -
Availability & quality not certain for Airfone. Never seen any Arifone mobile in stores till now...

Reliance launches its first CDMA smartphone ZTE V6700 with bundled offer
mywebid replied to Praveen sinha's topic in Other handsets
Got this phone. Initial impressions not good - Weak signal reception (at same place where other reliance 5 year old LG hanset getting 100% signal, this handset shows 50% many times), huge signal fluctuations (just after calling it gets to 0% and then fluctuates widely), getting heated up very very quickly (in 5-6 minutes of talk only one can feel heat in ear. SAR mentioned is .707), weak speaker due to which the ringtone is very low, plastic build quality (the battery door is very very hard to take out, and it gets loose after 2-3 open-close and looks prone to cracking soon:( ) Would give detailed feedback after more use. So current advise - not recommended. And yes, RAM size is 401 MB only as reported by @nshram. Don't know how it was mentioned as 512MB in the phone pamphlet uploaded by Preveen in first post. The internal memory available for user is 148 MB while the phone comes with 4 GB class 4 micro SD card. -
That's surprising!! But I still feel that Call continuation while switching towers is mobile's phone functionality. It is not related to network quality/setup. All networks even of worst quality inherently support this. Seniors may confirm this. These days the general quality * rugudness of mobile phones have come down. May be due to increase of complexity. That may be the reason that even premuim phones like HTC desire VC is dropping calls during tower switching.. hey wait .. looks like this particular thing happens with CDMA + GSM handsets. No dependent whether it is cheap micromax or premium HTC. I had this issue at same place (my home) with micromax CDMA + GSM handset, but at same place my single CDMA 5 years old Reliance LG handset works perfectly well. Note that there is continuous tower switching (max duration without switching is 2 minutes) at my place as there are strong signals of three towers. So now it looks like this particular issue happens with multi-SIM handsets.

Reliance has launched Haier CG 220 CDMA + GSM dual stand by handset. Details at - http://www.rcom.co.in/rcom/handset/handset_details.jsp?HANDSET=Haier%20CG%20220&IMAGE=haierCG220&PRICE=7 Looks kind of OK set. The banner at RCOM website handset page http://www.rcom.co.in/rcom/handset/overview.jsp says that a benefit of 1GB/mon data for 6 months is available, but the Web world guys are unaware of this and selling this without any new connection for 2100 (more than listed on RCOM website price of 1999 )

In my opinion Call drops on tower switching is handset dependent. Many cheap phones like micromax do not support smooth tower switching while talking and hence call drops on tower switching.

Reliance launches its first CDMA smartphone ZTE V6700 with bundled offer
mywebid replied to Praveen sinha's topic in Other handsets
Thanks. So it means that when you purchased the handset there was no new number (OMH SIM) that came bundled with it. Strange. The first post says that phone comes bundled ONLY with a new connection. Even a banner on Reliance website says so. I am yet to find any Reliance store in Noida that stocks this phone so can't confirm myself if it does comes bundled with new number or we have option to transfer the bundled data offer to existing number. -
Yes, it is not a CDMA + GSM device. It is a GSM + GSM device. Most online news/retail sites incorrectly mention the network support for multi-sim handsets. Many times WCDMA (3G) is mentioned as CDMA support by those illiterates :-| We are yet to see good CDMA + GSM or evn CDMA Android handset by any Indian mobile company like Micromax etc.

mywebid replied to Praveen sinha's topic in Other handsets

Thanks @nshram 401 MB RAM. Strange. The phone spec sheet attached by Praveen on first post list it as 512 MB. So u took a new number with the phone. Hmmm... Why not they include one screen cover & pouch in the box itself -

mywebid replied to Praveen sinha's topic in Other handsets
Thanks. You can add RAM comprison row. Apart from specs, how does the phone feel in hand (build quality), signal reception, real world battery life, responsiveness, touch etc. Just confirming again - it has to be taken with new number only. Can't it be taken without new number and benefits activated on old number? Would check Reliance stores in Delhi next week. Not avaialable in West UP and the web world guys ar clueless. -
How Aircel is Performing in Delhi/NCR?
mywebid replied to gyanesh's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Aircel scaling back (shutting??) in several circles like UP (West), Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab. Can confirm UP (West) shut down. No new connections, no shops recharging, towers closed etc. Roamed in west UP few days back. Places where there used to Aircel network is now getting into roaming with IDEA or Voda. Think before moving to Aircel if you roam to these circles. -

mywebid replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Rockstart V121 is actually Karbonn KC620 which is dual active triple SIM (GSM + GSM + CDMA) phone - http://www.infibeam.com/Mobiles/i-Karbonn-KC620-Triple-Sim-Mobile/P-E-M-Karbonn-KC620-Trio.html Don't know if the phone MTS is offering actually has 3 SIM slot and is made single SIM via software. In case it is then it can be unlocked as triple SIM phone by updating the firmware. -
