Firmware Upgrade

I have seen in Nokia website that they have introduced new firmware for Nokia 5800 xpress music Edition. Firmware version is 31.0.0.8. My firmware version is 30.0.011. I tried to update my firmware with new firmware Thru OTA or thru OVI software updater, but failed. It is showing that there are no update is available. Whats the problem? Do anyone knows about this?

Also can anybody please tell me how can I manually update my software?

You can rather try NSU instead of OVI. It works flawlessly for me.

for every mobile there is a product code,,

for ur code there may not any update available..

u can change ur product code & then update,, but i suggest u 2 do not do this bcoz it may loose ur warranty...

so wait untill update is available for ur code.

Also there is no major update b/w 31.0.0.8 & 30.0.011.

wait for some time there is one major update coming V40.0 which may include

kinetic scrolling & updated home screen..

Thanks santhosh, actually I really like to get kinetic scrolling in Nokia 5800. I think nokia will do this in their new firmware.

changing product code is very simple

just use jaf tool and change ur product code to region which has got the update

dont worry abt warranty u can change back ur product code anytime and even the firmware

go to dailymobile forum

i had posted few guides abt 5800 product code changing and flashing a yr back

lot of users follow it

^^^^ A good news from you... But how can we upgrade with this version? From where we can get the software download? Is it beta version? Is it officially launched by Nokia? Can you please clarify?

Also there is no major update b/w 31.0.0.8 & 30.0.011.

This looks like a not so minor update. Versions go as a.b.c.d then changes in d and c are essentially minor bug fixes, b a minor upgrade and a a major upgrade,

Yesterday I have been changed my Firmware to 40.0.0.5 using NSS(Nemesis Service Suite). And the kinetic scrolling is very handy. But Main Menu and Applications menu doesn't have kinetic scrolling.

Now a small update for NokiaN97 and N97Mini was released... Kinetic scrolling was smooth now..

Thats nice, in 5800 xpress music, no Kinetic scrolling for Main Menu and applications menu, for options menu there is kinetic scrolling.
