Uninor new SIMs now available in Pune.

They also have this new plan which offers varying discounts on a base tariff of 50p/min, depending on location and time.

If anybody takes a connection, please do post a review.

This explains it well -

With offers like dynamic pricing and 'Badalta discount' plan, Uninor today announced the commercial launch of its global GSM services in Maharashtra and Goa. Now Uninor services will be available in 475 towns in the two states.

Owned jointly by the Telenor Group, a Norway based telecom company and Unitech Ltd, an Indian real estate major, Uninor plans to footprint 90 million potential customers in Maharashtra, with access to Uninor services being available from 24,500 retails points, 184 distributors and over 25 exclusive shops in the region.

As per the 'Badalta discount' plan, customers can avail 5 to 60 per cent discounts, varying with location and with time. Thus call rates could be as low as 20 paise per minute.

Talking to the media, Rajiv Bawa, executive vice president, corporate affairs, said, "We have 'discount engines' that use state-of-the-art IT solutions to continuously monitor traffic at every tower in the network. Applicable discount rates will be flashed on the screens of every user. The system also ensures that a discount at which a call is originated is maintained throughout the call even if the customer moves into a different discount zone."

This means that while one gets a call rate of 50 paisa per minute for local calls for Uninor as well as non-Uninor users, on this 50 paisa one gets a discount, may be by just crossing a street or calling an hour later.

Olav Sande, executive vice president, Mumbai Hub said, "The dynamic discount pricing plan is tailor-made for those who are always on the move and targets mainly the young users. The success of this plan in other circles in India made us go ahead with this even in this region."
