New Symbian’s 1.1 Update

Nokia today released software update 1.1 for new Symbian devices these devices include Nokia N8, C7 and C6-01.

Nokia promises that the new Symbian software update offers smoother performance than before. Nokia also stated that the updated features might not be directly visible to end users but will together enhance the user experience of the Updated Devices.

Both the quality and stability of the devices will be further enhanced, fixed many tweaks and added new content.

Change Log of the update:

A. Meeting requests can be accepted directly from email invitations;

B. Maps integration in email, which means people, can view the meeting location on the map when the address is mentioned in the location field in the invite.

C. For Nokia N8 users:

1. New Quick Office 6.4 editor version, which offers editing possibilities and allows zooming in & out in Word documents.

2. Three high quality games will also be preloaded on new devices – Need for Speed Shift, Real Golf and Galaxy on Fire. (In some countries, Need for Speed is replaced with Asphalt 5). For current N8 users, these are available for free from Ovi Suite & Ovi Store.

You will be able to get the update via OTA (Device) or through the Ovi suite via PC. Nokia warned that the update is quite a large download especially for Nokia N8 users, so we suggest our readers to check their Data plans or get updated via Wi-Fi /Ovi suite.

*Country specific and Operator variants follow soon once available.

Hope Nokia have done enough to ensure that they dont create new bugs when fixing the old ones.

Still this update didn't bring the new browser... The only browser in the world, which has multi-tab capability, but NO direct way to open a new Tab is found in S60v5 and s^3 devices only... It has to be updated with new JS engine, no text-flow on resizing of page (by zooming in or out) like in android, painfully slow...

Just a half-baken firmware, imho...

It is a 1.1 hence not a total rewrite. Should have fixed some or most bugs.

But still, it is too little; too late, imho... Expecting good mobile browser is NOT asking too much isn't it sir, especially comparing the competition... Earlier BB browser was worse than S60's, but they have also improved a lot (now using the oss browser like s60 and others)...
