Samsung Launches Teaser Countdown For "The Next Galaxy"

Recommended Posts

If you haven't read enough rumors about about the next Galaxy-themed smartphone that Samsung's working on, you might want to skip this one. For the company is about to jump head-first into all the hype and speculation it previously worked to combat, thanks to its launch of a new teaser page for whatever smartphone it's planning to debut: tgeltaayehxnx.com.

No, that's not a sneeze. But it is a fun little anagram for the phrase, "The Next Galaxy," which still gives smartphone rumor-watchers no indication that the new device is even going to be called the Samsung Galaxy S III.

So what do we know? It's all but officially confirmed that whatever device Samsung's teasing is going to debut at a launch event on May 3 in London — invitations for the event were labeled simply, "Come and meet the next galaxy."

While the "galaxy" bit also matches up with some information found in the source code for Samsung's teaser site, that's about all that Samsung's "leaked" from its teaser page thus far: "Discover how Samsung is about to challenge the way you view the GALAXY once more"

So what's Samsung planning to debut at around 4 p.m. Pacific time tomorrow? No idea. It's doubtful that we'll receive the full details of Samsung's to-be-announced smartphone, but odds are good that some teaser images or a video could hit the digital airwaves. Just for a bit of historical perspective, this is the video that Samsung debuted in January of last year as a tease for the February 2011 announcement of its Galaxy S II smartphone:

If speculation's more your thing, we've previously covered an allegedly accidental listing on Amazon Germany of what could very well be the Samsung Galaxy S III. However, the only interesting details the page lists are the alleged size of the smartphone's screen — a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display — and the mention of a 12-megapixel camera.

Additional rumors hint that Samsung's next Galaxy-class smartphone could be powered by a quad-core Cortex A9 Exynos processor, possibly the same chip found in the Meizu MX (launching in June). From there, it's nothing but he-said, she-said land for the alleged specs of the new smartphone.
