  1. LG G2 LS980 Sprint CDMA/GSM

+1 for the post Vinod. Anyways my 2 paise for the phone: -You can use the TMobile rom on it [hunt XDA] and everything works [GSM and RUIM] except NFC. No wifi setting crash or need to put 0 before dialing numbers [Atleast this is what I have been told, havnt tried personally]. - Install TB and Block the UpdateDevice service and it will stop bugging you about OTA. You can also uncheck the Notification for GoogleServicesFramework. - When I did SPR to spr and other changes in build.prop, it was giving me error for "SprintExtensionProvider has stopped" working when phone was restarted. So blocked everything sprint related and now no error popups -Data does not work during calls . Very disappointing. EVDO speeds are good but not a good as EVO LTE, which has given me the highest EVDO speeds till date (All test parameters constant) -LG`s skin on this phone is quite a show off, with loads of bloat and animations. I reckon if you put some stable AOSP rom on this ... it will give 2 days+ of battery life with moderate use. Still with LG`s skin the battery life is awesome.

  4. Even I was pondering same couple of days back... Came across two very interesting sites: http://what-goes-in-my-mind.blogspot.in/2008/12/before-considering-club-mahindra.html The above page reference following pages where you can see people are selling their memberships quite cheap. http://www.enidhi.net/2008/04/buy-sell-used-clubmahindra-membership.html Then did some calculation and even buying a second hand membership that too on a sharing basis with a friend didnt make sense to me. But being good friend with some one who has CM membership is an awesome idea . The gifting charge is around 1300 or something per booking...
  5. Death of HDD

Hi All, I am an obsessive compulsive download-er. There is something or the other always downloading on my machine. Couple of days ago my Western Digital HDD started developing bad sectors and eventually died like a pig while taking backup. This one lasted around three years. Earlier as well hard drives have died on me in similar manner. I don't blame the manufacturers, i think its just my excessive hard drive use. Anyways I was discussing same with a friend and the suggested that I should plug in a pen drive / SD card with an adapter and use that as the downloading partition... The idea initially sounded brilliant to me but then a doubt crossed my mind that may be the download buffer will initially be saved on the hard drive and the moved to the pen drive. Can someone confirm this ? Will hard drive be taken out of picture if say for example torrent is saving to the pen drive... Any other option which can help reducing / removing the I/O from the HDD ? Dont want to use [or invest] network drives / SSDs or reduce the downloading for that matter TIA.
  6. Death of HDD

  7. Death of HDD

Update: The hard disc was more than 3 years old and out of warranty as per local dealer. I checked the serial number on western digital portal and it was showing under warranty till 03/2015. So i created a login and registered my drive and created a RMA [Return Merchandise Authorization] for same. I did this on 6th Jan, but the hard drive was finally picked by BlueDart on 21st Jan [after complaining on WD customer care] But today I got a new 500 GB hard drive to kill again.... So those of you who have WD drives, register them on their site and enjoy their slow but reliable service if required. Link: http://support.wd.com/warranty/index_end.asp?lang=en You can use the above link to check the remaining warranty on your drive. Screenshot attached. Total expenditure: rs 5 for print out and cello tape
  8. [Confirming] Sprint LG G2 OMH & GSM Capabilities

Thanks guys for confirming this ... i think my friend has done something wrong, anyway he has got it working in NV mode. http://www.ppobox.com/calculator.aspx The above link is only for approximation, PPOBox is having issues lately [search this forum], so if you`ll use any other service... cost will be higher [Read 1 - 2K or a bit more in your case]
  9. [Confirming] Sprint LG G2 OMH & GSM Capabilities

Just confirming [my observations] the capabilities for mango people woh dont have the Developer / Sprint Employee version of the phone.. - GSM does not work out of the box on the phone, root and system tweaks are required as mentioned by Vinod Nayak in a separate thread. - RUIM only works for call / text, data does not work even after doing changes as advised by OP.
  10. Razr M via GEB @ Rs. 12,312.00 [This is almost Rimweb price ] GEB Link USE Coupon: 26REPUBLIC Inc 2 @ Rs. 7,084.00 [Will need to buy unlock code for 2 -3 $] And may more options like BB 9650 @ Rs. 4,712.00 Happy Hunting !

  12. NV flash for sticking EVDO settings is old school (no offence) Just change it using code and peace life... @Saurabh ... kindly add the code in this Thread Also .. has someone faced issue with LG handsets ... when MDN is transferred to the LG handset the response of "ODR RSN" to 53737 says that the phone has not been OTAFED. Though Text / Call and 1x work even in this state but makes evdo activation pain in donkey. This has happened with me on 3 LG handsets ... Any solution ?

  18. I have seen other people struggle on this forum to get Data working on LG phones like in This topic. Basically the issue is that whenever you write EVDO data settings [manuall or dump] it reverts back to original Carrier specific values. Others try to fix this by writing NV items, but there is a very simple way of doing it on Viper, Optimus G, F7 [Others can please confirm the process different handsets and we can have a single solution thread] For LG Viper: - Install LGProvisioning.apk [App: LGProvisioning.apk] - Open the Application - Select Data-Lg> CDG2 Data Settings> PPP Carrier> undetermined Visual Aid: Once this is done your changes for EVDO settings will stay. While programming LG phones you get two { or sometimes three ports} - Serial Port is for NAM settings - Diagnostic Port if for Data settings - GPS port is used-lesser for us. Correct me IF wrong for aforesaid. For LGOG: The LG Provisioning App crashes on LGOG . But no fear, its even simpler on LGOG. From Dialpad dial 3845#*970# Then Choose data > PP carrier > undetermined The above code is kind of generic and is model number specific, so for LG F7 [uS780] its 3845#*780# Random Tips: - *228 is blocked on Viper, So may be you can try *22802 and do the activation. But this sometimes creates issue and Activation process does not complete on backend. Later when you try to activate EVDO you run into all sorts of trouble like "Your phone is not activated" reply message when you try to activate EVDO via SMS. I guess the only way is "Censored" - For LGOG *228 works but does not bring up dial pad , even with the Wait trick. So its not possible to use HCC . What you can do is [will try my best to explain] -Create a "Invalid contact" with 1 as a phone number or create a contact with *228 -Dial *228 -While the *228 lady is singing welcome to reliance bla bla la la... hit home button and go in contact and dial the "Invalid contact" -The screen will show some kind of busy circle and the second call will drop. -Pull don't the notification bar and go back to the original *228 call, now it will show dial pad. voilà. Disclaimer: The above information is to the best of my knowledge, other can add/delete/edit with the right information. Try at you own risk, I am not responsible if you add another brick in the Wall.
  19. Just sharing info brother
  20. Agreed but sometimes these have landed me in ditch If you check the RSN activation status [ODR RSN To 53737] after using such codes you get replies like: - Error! This phone has not been otafed. - Handset status not Found. So personally I have made a rule not to use such code unless someone confirms XYZ codes work perfectly on ABC handset.

But! wife is at home watching Sparcatus / Community / Movies .. chatting on skype / gtalk .. wasting money on Myntra / Jabong etc from 10 AM - 8 PM... So the system cannot run Linux for almost half of the day ... OR the big OR ... I`ll have to teach my wife to use Linux ... Me -> <- Wife OR will have to reboot into windows in the morning .. resume the download {99% torrents} and do the same thing in evening ...
