  1. BlackBerry 9650 BIS Issue

Anyone knows how to enter proxy settings for Reliance GSM use ? I can see the APN settings but can't find any place to enter proxy settings. Am on OS 6 (443) Internet doesn't work on entering the APN settings for wap/mms/rconnect etc. I am on BES on RCDMA so i haven't subsribed to any BES/BIS plans on the RGSM prepaid SIM that i bought for trying out 3G.
  2. BlackBerry 9650 - Upgraded to OS 6!

^ My experience has been quite good with OS 6. No lag etc except once when i had installed a few crappy apps (uppidy, car finder & another one i can't remember). Removed them and it was as fast as ever. I am on 443 but going to try King's hybrid this weekend. Anyone knows how to enter proxy settings for Reliance GSM use ? (just want to try 3G speeds) I can see the APN settings but can't find any place to enter proxy settings.
  3. ^ yes, there is a way to store the map files so that they don't take up so much space on FAT32 drives. It involves storing the files with a smaller block size. Currently, the files are very small but they take up a minimum default space on FAT drives and due to the very large number of individual files the total space becomes more. This problem is there for all offline maps in BB/Android/PalmPre etc. Go to http://www.mgmaps.com/stored/ and browse down to the page end, just before the end there is a paragraph called compressing map tiles. You can use that method. PL NOTE I haven't used that method yet but there is no risk so you can try it.
  4. Indian Passport

So many times i tried telling that to my parents, but they wouldn't listen. Else I would have been a rockstar with countless girls fawning over me ! Instead of 1.
  5. BlackBerry 9650 - Upgraded to OS 6!

Its officially launched, but webworlds are yet to get stocks. You can get it at other big dealers like Top 10 in andheri w (near station) etc. Or from Sadik also. The box etc has reliance printed on it and the phone has a reliance bootup logo and bes/bis are activated by reliance
  6. Kesav bro, i think you'll definitely succeed in making my BB useless very soon. But there's no other way to get our office Lotus Notes (yes, we still use that) email on any handset. If it was outlook exchange server it could be had on android etc but Lotus Notes - no one supports - many haven't even heard of it. Though its a very very secure platform and has much more than email - a lot of office processes are in lotus apps. Maybe, we should just disable all encryption in our emails, banking & demat sites and entire population of India should have same password for everything - that will smoothen the process of gubermint being able to see all communications (sorry, couldn't resist adding that last para !)
  7. 6126 kbps on my BlackBerry 8830!

^ Correct. The speed reported is actually between Opera's Servers and the speed test site. Not between the phone and the test site. Since opera servers would obviously have huge bandwidth the speeds reported will be high.
  8. Updated Palm Pre Plus To 2.1.0

Great. I was wondering who would be the first brave guy to try it out on rimweb !
  9. Anyone here has experience of IPTV - which services are available in Mumbai and which are good ? Even my brother swears by IPTV in Delhi. Says once you tried that you can never go back to anything else. No need to schedule your life according to any program time or miss the ones you want to see because they are at inconvenient time.
  10. So what should one do to enjoy good SD (till we get more HD content) ? Any upscaler or such gizmo would be useful ? Can that be connected to any of the STBs like Tata Sky etc. Currently, watching SD on HDTVs is actually worse than on old CRT TVs. Please advise.
  11. Is BBM and BIS working on it????? Yes, perfectly. Its official reliance branded handset. So there was no problem in getting BES activated. Its quite nice with OS 6.
  12. New Handsets Added In Profile Field

Can you please add Blackberry 9650
  13. BlackBerry 9650 - Upgraded to OS 6!

Thanks Sumit. Found one for $5. Another query: I have a GSM prepaid sim - if i put it in the phone i can't browse. Do i need to do *228 or set any APN etc for browsing ? Just want to check 3G speeds on RGSM.
  14. BlackBerry 9650 - Upgraded to OS 6!

Am on Reliance (CDMA). Can't find any details on their site for this thing Also, how do i unlock this for other gsm operators ? Its reliance official 9650 - i understand it will only work with reliance gsm ( apart from reliance CDMA that is.)
  15. BlackBerry 9650 - Upgraded to OS 6!

Can someone tell me if I'll be billed for data use on laptop (ie in tethered mode) if I am on unlimited BES 899 plan (bbep899) ?
  16. Must Have Products For Your New Android Phone

Though there's no ground pin, once ac is converted to dc 5v etc there will be a wire with zero voltage (which will actually be near zero in practice - closer to zero for good brands maybe and maybe not for cheaper brands) This somehow affects the capacitive touchscreens. No heans etc pressure is very less. I would press with my thumb to get any minute bubbles out of the screen guards and after doing it many times the problem happened. Both things happen to some people as per various forums i found. But nothing to be worried about - was just cautioning.
  17. Must Have Products For Your New Android Phone

Capacitive screens have a problem with not being able to calibrate themselves if power supplies are not correctly grounded. These screens calibrate a few times a second - to take care of humidity etc which varies capacitance of your finger and atmosphere. Found out when i was having this problem in Palm Pre screen acting funny on being connected to a low quality charger. Sometimes this also indicates that the touch sensor is going to conk off soon - which happened to my Pre. Usually the reason for touch sensor conking off is pushing/pressing too hard while applying screen guards multiple times. I had applied screen guard 4-5 times since i wasn't getting correct size and pressed on the screen too obsessively to get all bubbles out.
  18. ^ To be sure, the confirmation is to copy the files back successfully. Even on the fake pendrives you can copy full amount of data from PC; but when you copy it back from pendrive to PC it gets stuck at a small capacity (which is the real capacity of those fake pendrives - they use a spl ckt to keep overwriting data so that PC thinks its copied successfully ! ) Offcourse, yours won't be like that. Those are usually Dirt Cheap. I bought one for Rs 400 with 64 GB capacity written on it and body/packing etc looking quite original and found its 1 GB. Though i had been warned of the scam earlier, i couldn't resist as the guy gave me a really good story why he's selling it so cheap.
  19. Yes, i bought it around a week back from Top 10 in Andheri (W) for 24,500/- after suggestion from jotsaggu. Good handset.
  20. Which area in Mumbai are you looking for the schools ? maybe i can recommend some.
  21. BlackBerry 9650 - Upgraded to OS 6!

I am on bbep899 plan (bes) and i can browse and get gmail over wifi but not office lotus notes emails and neither does the bb app world work over wifi. actually i was looking for crck'd apps like the ones in the forum posts on 8830 etc - most of them don't work on OS 6 so i have only official free or purchased apps.
  22. BlackBerry 9650 - Upgraded to OS 6!

Where do i get apps for BB OS 6 ? - apart from the app world that is.
  23. BlackBerry 9650 - Upgraded to OS 6!

Sorry, my fault. I selected 'India' while installing OS 6 files to PC (don't know why). Re-installed with default selected option 'USA' and then usual procedure and its got OS 6 now ! Reactivated BES since it was showing 'no enterprise activations' (though emails were still coming) and everything is working. With 1XEV icon now (was 1X earlier - don"t know if its due to OS or back end though) OS 6 is really nice - though one has to get used to it. Some things are different. Thanks Everyone
  24. BlackBerry 9650 - Upgraded to OS 6!

When I delete vendor.xml and then run loader.exe it checks the usual things and gives this error: "No Disk in drive. Please insert disk into drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR3" I have 2 OS 6 versions downloaded (1 sprint, 1 verizon) .466 and .431Both have this error. Any idea what this is ? Also, I want to know if i will lose my BES activation after upgrading to OS 6 ? Is there any way to find out the SPC for 9650 ? (i think it won't have any old OS versions which can be used with CDWS).
