  2. I can not exactly call my sd card ruined because when using it on my incredible I had hell lot of issues like it used to say memory card ejected and had remove it and insert again. At times it dint even work after reinserting. Where as my transcend card worked like a charm. Btw the same verbatim card is now working flawless with photon. So I case if it acts funny again I now know how to replace it. Thanks. P.s I tried all the ways you had mentioned earlier to trouble shoot the card.
  3. What did you need to get the replacement? I mean just the invoice will do... Please explain the process if possible.

  10. Motorola Photon OTA Update Problem

Sir I have big time issues with this phone. I am unlucky to be one of the users facing the known ghost call issue. At times my phone does not have any sound whatsoever while making or receiving calls. My phone also restarts a few time due to this issue. Also my evdo gets stopped at times I had none of these issues with my htc incredible. Can you tell me if you have any cdma option under network mode or is it something else. Also what other settings do you have on your phone for network mode. Are you able to make conference calls through cdma as it asks me to add a new call and merge it which does not conference the calls. Finally I have no choice left but to update the phone's firmware which will kill the wifi. Please let me know what you think.....

  14. Motorola Photon OTA Update Problem

Finally I have the update off my A$$ oops i meant my phone . All credit goes to muffi (Dr. Mufaddal). I tried n number of things to get rid of this update. I literally read the whole xda to get some hint. But all of the remedies were post the update. In my case I had just downloaded the update and not installed it. So as per muffi i rooted my phone which was quite easy (you don't even need a computer you can do that on your phone itself). then installed clockwork recovery did a backup and then wiped the cache partition (I almost pissed in my pants when it said that the changes can't be undone ) I had the backup so it was least of my problems. And tada the downloaded update was removed from my phone. And i went back to check if I can get the update if I want to and yes it did show me that there was a ota available but this time I hit the cancel button . I am happy that I am off this mess or else it would had killed my wifi on gsm and I am not sure if it does the same on cdma. But what hurts me is that if you see this thread it is like I am the only one who is asking questions and then updating new work around and finally answering the problem myself. I am sure there are way to many people on this forum using photon and to many gurus who may know the answer to this. This is a great place and I have seen instances were members helped people who had just signed up. At least I am a part of this forum for quite sometime now though a non contributing one. Maybe it was my bad. Anyhow guys with photon if you have any doubts regarding rooting installing clockwork recovery or any damm thing that I can help you with please let me know I will be more than happy to help you. After all I am too a noob and love this forum . P.S I am sorry if I did hurt someone it was purely unintentional.
  15. Motorola Photon OTA Update Problem

I found a workaround at XDA the post goes like this Just try for errors. I used root explore to edit the file "build.prop" in the system folder. Changed the Blur version to a large number (much larger than a practical one) and also change the rdf link information to an invalid one, as follows. ro.mot.hw.uaprof=http://uaprof.motorola.com/phoneconfig/MotoMB999/profile/MotoMB999.rdf ro.build.version.full=Blur_Version.99.9.9.MB855.Sp rint.en.US Then you need to reboot and wipe your cache with CM. After did so, the OTA update windows has never popped up so far and I won't even get the OTA update through the setting menu. But not sure if these edits will cause other issues, so you may try at your risk. Source http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1270517 Gurus what do you think is it worth a try as the pop up to install the downloaded update pops up after every two hours and is really getting on my nerves.
  16. Motorola Photon OTA Update Problem

I got an OTA update for the same and mistakenly downloaded it. Now it is has been downloaded but I have not installed it. However every now and then it gives me a pop up and asks to install the update. I know eventually it would be updated as I may mistakenly click on install as the pop up comes every now and then. Is there a way to disable the popup so that I do not install that update....
  17. Handset Launches - News Snippets

Not sure If it is the right place to post it however could not resist the temptaion to share the news. Leaked Samsung Galaxy S III specs show dual-core 1.8 GHz CPU, 2GB of RAM. While we are still waiting for the much-hyped Samsung Nexus Prime, leaked details of another flagship handset – Samsung Galaxy S III – have hit the Internet. Phandroid has posted a screenshot of what are being rumoured to be the specs of the Galaxy S III, the unannounced successor to the popular Samsung Galaxy S II. Related Stories Samsung to introduce letter-based naming scheme for Galaxy smartphones Samsung launches GALAXY Tab 730 and 750 in India Samsung launches two new Android smartphones in India - Galaxy 3 & 5 [price & specs] Tablet news roundup: RIM's BlackPad, Notion Ink's Adam, and Samsung's Galaxy Tablet According to Phandroid, the Galaxy S III will come with a dual-core 1.8GHz Exynos 4212 processor along with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone will feature a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus HD display, which is likely to deliver HD resolution without the PenTile technology, available in the present Samsung displays. Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy S III will have a 12MP camera, powered by a W750 BSI CMOS sensor for image control. The new Samsung smartphone will apparently also feature LTE, NFC support and unlike the forthcoming Nexus Prime, the Galaxy S III will have a flat display. The rumour mill states the Galaxy S III will also have a thinner body than the S II, and should quite obviously run on Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Phandroid, points out that the information on the Galaxy S III is unconfirmed at this time. After the success Samsung has had with the Galaxy S II, it seems likely the company would cash in on with a sequel, the Galaxy S III. If the details published by Phandroid are to be believed, we are afraid the "my clock speed is better than yours" battle has begun amongst smartphone manufacturers. We hope the focus on more raw power, doesn't leave usability and a smartphone's other vital features far behind. Sougata bhai give me your email address. or mail me at mujeebrehman4u at gmail dot com. I will forward the email I received from swype team and it has link to the installer.
  22. Qwerty vs Touch

IMO Swype is the best. I had received an email from swype team and they provided me a link for their beta version. Till date that version of swype I guess is the best virtual keyboard I had used. But Alas i have upgraded my phone to Motorola photon and it already has swype and it does not allow me to go ahead with that installer. If any one want to try that installer do let me know!
