Nokia's Bicycle Charger To Hit India In March
rajanmehta posted a topic in General Technical Discussion
Rs 1,499 charger provides 28 minute talk time for 10 minutes of cycling Nokia's bicycle charger will finally hit India sometime in March this year. The Indian price is set at Rs. 1,499. The nifty little charger works on the tried and tested dynamo based mechanism that has been the de-facto standard for bicycle lights. The bicycle charger is a regular charger attached to a dynamo that draws power from the rotating sidewall of the front wheel. Here Are The Complete Product Details It gives 28 minutes of talk time for 10 minutes of cycling at speeds between 6 kmph and 50 kmph. The 2mm charger interface is packaged with a Nokia charger, a phone holder and a bottle dynamo. Jatin Kaushik, a sales representative at Nokia, says, "The device is targeted at markets like India, and is bound to do excellently well. The company plans to bring Bicycle accessories including the dynamo charger, by the end of Feb, latest by March this year". We can't be so sure about the doing well, because of the price that's a good chunk of what an average bicycle costs here. Moreover, the urban Indian population which looks like the target audience for this device might find it to be overpriced. So charging a phone, which is something one does every other day, sounds unviable on a product that won't be used as frequently. We think this most probably will end up as a novelty device with not many takers. Source: Techtree -

HP Palm 'Think Beyond' Teaser Shows New Device The company is expected to unveil new Topaz tablet at the webOS event on February 9 Techtree Feb 03, 2011 1141 hrs IST HP Palm is all charged up for the February 9 webOS Event for which the company has reportedly sent out invites early last month. At this event, everyone anticipates to get the sneak peak of the next generation webOS, new phone/portable music player and the Topaz tablet. On the HP Palm blog, a teaser video giving a glimpse of upcoming device was posted just a few hours ago. Last week, details with internal render images of HP Palm's webOS based Topaz tablet was leaked on the web by PreCentral and Engadget. According to the specification details leaked, Palm will unveil two tablets with different screen sizes - 7-inch codenamed Opal and 9.7-inch codenamed Topaz. However, HP Palm will unveil Topaz tablet first by this summer while the Opal tablet in three versions: Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi+3G and Wi-Fi+LTE is scheduled to arrive later this year. HP Palm's Topaz has 9.7-inch multi-touch capacitive display with Gorilla Glass that is big enough to compete with Apple iPad (even iPad 2) and Motorola XOOM. Topaz houses a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8660 processor coupled with Adreno 220 GPU, thereby packing good enough computing and graphics punch to run HD video (maybe), bit heavy applications, and 3D games. Wireless connectivity features include Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth, ambient light sensor, notification lights, and accelerometer. In terms of software, we believe HP will unveil a tablet-version of the webOS just like Google introduced Android 3.0 Honeycomb last month at CES 2011.

The Most Awaited MNP Finally Introduced!
rajanmehta replied to SumitVerma's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Don't think MNP will be that drastic to sound death knell but it will definately get them out of the slumber they are in currently. The stakes are too high (Thousands of Crores) for R-Com particularly because R-GSM getting all the bad vibes. CDMA can be the saviour. The major hindrance for RCDMA is of handset choice with good features, across all price points particularly in smartphones and good data plans. Both do not need any rocket science to overcome and they will surely wake up to the reality. I foresee some good action on both fronts in the coming months. -

Though this is just 10 days data but for all the earlier noice about 50% CDMA users will be porting out... RCDMA and TATA both have lost less Gross Customers compared to supposed to be the Best Networks, Vodafone and Airtel Gross Port Outs Vodafone-44,041 Airtel-60,970 R-CDMA-23,264 TATA-CDMA-26,251 And as far as huge numbers porting in to Vodafone & Airtel, they may be All Prepaid, Low ARPU users wanting to taste the best at lowest cost Personally seen this at Voda Store Here-Nearly 25 people with Port in to Vodafone-All into Prepaid... But People Porting out from Vodafone & Airtel may be high ARPU users tired of their tariffs..So despite net gains..Negative Finacial Impact may be more for them.. -

Angry Birds has been a massive hit. I'm sure even the developer of the game did not see that coming. It has been the number one selling app - app, not game - on the App Store across the world. It is considered to be the No. 1 game across all platforms in 2010 by a lot of people and we are sure it single-handedly contributed to a lot of iPhone and iPod touch sales. The game has now become an international phenomenon and there are very few smartphone users who haven't wasted precious hours playing Angry Birds. While the game is still restricted to smartphones, there are a lot of people out there who are yet to find a new way to waste time just because they don't have a smartphone. So how can Rovio, the developer of Angry Birds, reach them? Enter Angry Birds for the desktop computer. The Mac version of Angry Birds went live with the Mac App Store on January 6 and the Windows version too went live on the same day and is available on Intel's AppUp center, an application store dedicated to netbooks and notebook computers. The desktop version of the game is priced at $9.99 (Rs. 453 approx) on both the platforms, but is available at an introductory price of $4.99 (Rs. 226 approx). Angry Birds on desktop is basically the exact same game as the one on mobile. You get the same number of levels and every thing else is the same too. The only thing that is different is the way you play the game. On the mobile version you drag the birds with your fingers and then release them. On the desktop version you use a mouse or trackpad to do that. With the mouse you press and hold on the bird and drag it back with left click and then release it. But it gets better on MacBooks with the multi-touch trackpad. You don't have to press but just place your finger on the trackpad and drag it back and then release it. You can also zoom in and out by using pinch to zoom on the trackpad, but if you have a Windows machine or use a mouse then you would have to use the scroll key to zoom. Initially it feels weird to play if you are used to playing on a mobile, but soon you will start appreciating the added real estate offered by the large display of a computer or a netbook. Also, because of the larger screen, you can also zoom out all the way and have the entire game in your field of view, which makes playing a lot easier, without making everything too small. If you are playing with a mouse you can be really fast and blaze through the initial levels at lighting speed. The game scales very well on the higher resolution displays. We tried the game on the 1366 x 768 resolution display of the 11-inch MacBook Air as well as a 1920 x 1080 display on a Windows PC and the game looks great on both. However, there are small problems such as, the grass and the background have a low resolution and do not scale properly on larger displays. But they are minor things and don't really stand out unless you decide to find them. Source:Techtree Download Intel AppUp From Here... http://www.appup.com...lications/index and after installing it on PC, You can download Angry Birds through it.. Though Intel AppUp is designed for Netbooks, It works on Normal PC's Also... Angry Birds Cinematic Trailer

Pakistan bans BB services for foreign missions REUTERS, Jan 31, 2011 KARACHI: Pakistani authorities have asked mobile telephone operators to stop BlackBerry services to foreign missions in the country amid concern about the security of the communications, industry sources said. Two industry officials confirmed that the regulator, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), had asked them to stop all Blackberry services to foreign missions. "I can confirm that PTA has asked us to stop all BlackBerry services to foreign embassies and high commissions," a senior official at a mobile company, who declined to be identified, said. Another industry official at another mobile company also confirmed receiving the instructions. "There are some other issues as well, mostly relating to BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server), which we are trying to resolve in consultation with the PTA," he said. A PTA spokesman was not available for comment. BlackBerry maker Research In Motion has been buffeted by demands for access to its encrypted data from several countries, including India and United Arab Emirates, worried by security and social mores. Pakistani industry and government officials say that the government had never allowed BlackBerry services to foreign missions and inbound roamers when the services were launched in Pakistan in 2005. The government also initially banned the more secure BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) services in Pakistan. BES allows users to send and receive secure email and messages, which is difficult for governments to intercept and read. However, the instructions have since been flouted by all five Pakistani mobile operators. It was not clear why the government allowed them to do so or why it was acting now to enforce the restrictions. An industry source said that the government had asked all operators in the country to enforce the restrictions. "The most critical issue is the provision of BlackBerry services to the foreign embassies, missions and high commissions," said the source. "Therefore, all the operators have agreed to close all BlackBerry connections provided to them by January 31," he said, adding discussions would be held with the PTA to gain more time on the provision of BES to local customers as well as BlackBerry services to incoming roamers. If fully enforced, the restrictions would mean no BlackBerry services for many of the multinational companies and aid groups, who use the BES service rather than the Blackberry Internet Service, or BIS, which is much less secure. Last year, India demanded access to all BlackBerry services as part of efforts to fight militancy and security threats over the Internet and through telephone communications. Last week, RIM said there was no possibility of providing India access to corporate emails on BlackBerry devices. Source:Times of India -
