Moral of the Story: If you are buying max 2 pieces in a single package, stick with PPOBOX. They are the cheapest. Though they will NOT give you the Customs Invoice / Bill of Entry as provided by DHL and SnS. Also, you may need to remind them to ship item from NY/Mumbai and to issue invoice. Recently an item of mine was delivered to their NY hub on 06.12.2013. I got no intimation regarding shipping from NY to India even till 16.12.2013. When i called and roughed them up, after an hour, a guy called from PPO and said by mistake my shipment was lying in their Mumbai warehouse in "GIFT ITEMS". So they declared my item as gift and saved some customs charges? May be. But barring some cases, I have always been charged 7% Customs on Declared value. Also, As per Custom Rules, Duty is charged on Landed value which includes Shipping charges from USA to India. Same is charged by DHL too. However, PPOBOX never includes this value when it charges Duty :-p So, maybe PPO is paying lesser Duty than it charges us. But still, it is the cheapest.

Also, sometimes what happens is that you receive calls from number starting with +91 which is not saved in your contact list. So when you need to call that number, you will need to remove manually the "+91" part. Rather, use Software available for free in Play Store called "Prefixer" and set appropriate rules. After this, what will happen is that whenever u dial a number starting with "+91", it will automatically remove "+91" and replace it with "0". If u have any difficulty in making rules, PM me.

Have had pretty good experience with pepperfry. Bought on more than 15 occasions. But sometimes they do delay delivery. And the bad part is that if u have to return something they do not give u bank refund but only pepper points unless you are ready to fight with them for some days. Still would recommend them. Overall have had nice experience barring one or two occasions

As far as I know it's gsm unlocked for world but USA GSM carriers like tmobile and atnt will not work

I don't think it will work on US gsm networks without tweaking. RAZR M for example can be made to run on US gsm networks after nv editing. Dunno if the same tweaking would be applicable for photon.

Hope u are on 4.1. Yes unlock Bootloader first. Flash custom recovery. From recovery flash su. You are rooted. Then run terminal emulator with appropriate commands. Voila gsm unlocked. Also instead of terminal emulator u may run app by viperboy.

Would rather suggest to get a good brand albeit dual core phone. If warranty must then Xperia M otherwise imported may be RAZR xt912.

Do not try from the drop down notification menu. Once try going into setting and then mobile network and switch on data from there. That should help I believe.

Also check with your local Sony or Samsung service centre if they would accept to repair and imported TV. Last i heard that had stopped accepting imported TV to discourage us from buying from abroad or grey market.
