Using Nipon S6 (Made in Japan) .. bought from Alfa (Irla, Mumbai) 3.5 yrs back for 13K.

Lack of shaky image correction (In non-flash mode) & Avg Battery life (due big screen) are the only downers.

I heard S8 & S10's have also come..

BTW.. I have up blown almost 15K buying 'branded perfumes @ half price' from Alfa.

Tried & tested.. they're all fake !!

The sales guy will give some explanation for half rate in true gujju style..ignore it.

I would suggest 2 for you - http://www.dphotojou...meras-20092010/

1. Canon Powershot G-10 (if you are slightly professionally inclined in a compact body). It is the best compact camera.... period.

2. Fuji Finepix 200EXR

and dont go by what people tell you about Fuji cameras; they are highly under rated but high on tech and performance; second only to Canon.... always go for EISA/TIPA rated cameras.... they are the authorities on the best cameras in the world...

worthy mentions are -

3. Casio Exilim EX-H10

4. Canon Powershot 2100IS

5. Panasonic DMC-TS1 (Military Grade-Waterproof Underwater Camera)

6. Samsung SL820

7. Nikon S220

Pick any of the models I have mentioned above and you wont go wrong...

It will not figure in my first 7; sony always over saturates colours for my personal liking... but if its ok with you, choice is yours...

Sony W270 don't allow optical zoom while recording,

that is a big -ve point about it,

Also photo quality is very soft,

Bad for night use.

^^^

I would like to suggest FujiFilm FinePix S1500

Cost 12K in india, with 2gb card, 4 nos rechargeable battery, battery Charger, carry pouch, & 2year warranty.

Camera is 10Mega Pix

Lens :- Fujinon 12x optical zoom lens, F2.8 (Wide) - F5.0 (Telephoto)

Image Stabilization : CCD-shift type

Also Optical zoom can be used while movie recording.

Get more info here:- http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/fujifilm_finepix_s1500_review/specifications/

But

If you are looking camera only for video go for camcorders, price will be little higher,

but you will find lots of functions for videos comparing to digital camera.
