The Prize Money

As per the rules of the game, the winning team would be awarded by a prize amount of 3 million US dollars. News updates suggest that the International Cricket Council has been planning to increase the total match amount to 10 million US dollars. This decision was finalized in last year, i.e. 2010, April 20th.

With a seating capacity that amounts to 250,000 spectators, Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium, Dhaka is one of the largest stadiums of the country of Bangladesh. It was established in the year 2006 with the name 'Mirpur Stadium', however, it was soon changed by the Bangladeshi government to Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium

The stadium is named after one of the renowned freedom fighter and leader of Bangladesh, AK Fazlul Haque and boasts of its excellent drainage facility which is considered the best in the entire subcontinent. Though built for athletics and footballs, this ground has undergone severe renovation to become the top cricket stadium of the country. Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium, Dhaka will be hosting matches of the World Cup Cricket which is slated to begin in the month of February in the year 2011.

Ground statistics of Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium, Dhaka

The first ever test match that was played in this stadium was in the year 2007 between teams of India and Bangladesh where the latter got an innings defeat and by 239 runs. On the other hand, the first ODI or One Day International was held in the year 2006 between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. In this match the home team had defeated the Zimbabweans by 8 wickets.

World cup history of Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium, Dhaka

This is the first time in the history of world cricket that Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium will be hosting World Cup matches. In total six matches will played in this cricket ground, out of which 2 are quarter final matches.

By using this service, Vodafone’s postpaid and prepaid subscribers will be able to view all cricket matches LIVE on their mobile phone just Rs. 7 per day (Data Charges Applicable). Airtel launches services for cricket fans

The bouquet of services aimed at cricket world cup viewers, includes alerts, games, contests, and social networking features including a dedicated social networking platform for cricket enthusiasts.

Bharti Airtel has announced the launch of a bouquet of services aimed at ongoing ICC cricket world cup viewers.

Airtel mobile customers can now dial 543210 (toll free) to avail various cricket specific services including SMS, MMS and video alerts, Airtel Talk2Me with cricketers and experts (users get a chance to talk to cricketers and experts), games and applications.

It has also announced a service, called as Cricket Fever, which is a dedicated social networking portal for cricket fans, where users can participate in discussion forums, listen to expert comments and post their views on Facebook and Twitter in their own voice -- all by calling an IVR number from their mobiles. They can also upload videos on Youtube using the service.

It has also started 'Airtel Cricket Contest'. Airtel mobile customers can SMS 'PLAY' to 55000 or dial 543210 to test their cricket knowledge and get a chance to walk away with exciting prizes including cars and LCD TVs.

Another service allows users to participate in a contest hosted by Shahrukh Khan, currently the host of the popular game show Zor Ka Jhatka (looks like its promotional campaign for jor ka jhatka program currently being aired on NDTV-Imagine).

Airtel customers can call 53030 to participate in the contest and record personalised good luck wishes for our cricket team. The 11 most Zor Ka Jhatka wishes will then be etched on a cricket bat to be passed onto our cricket team.

Shireesh Joshi, chief marketing officer of mobile services, Bharti Airtel said, "Airtel customers will be able to dial 543210 to opt for various cricket related services. With the 543210 portal now live with an exciting range of offerings -- Airtel will continue to add more products for its cricket loving customers over the period of the tournament."

Yep :) Yuvi and Raina held their nerves in the end and did not buckle under pressure.

Also Pointing played a great innings.

Next stop Mohali, March 30th : v/s perennial rivals Pakistan.
