National Telecom Policy 2011 - No More Roaming Charges!

Recommended Posts

^ 3G on 900MHz won't happen. As per the auction queries and answers, only the spectrum given away through this auction (ie. 1800 and 800 MHz) is liberalized. Not the existing bands.

India already went against the wave, they put 4G on 2300 MHz, which is not at par with US or European standard (where 1800MHz is taken for more than 33% of LTE roll out, and 800MHz is used for rural areas in Europe), rather this band for 4G is to be used by Chinese operators. So 4G roll out takes time as the ecosystem is to be made. Airtel flops here, while RIL Infotel is going to be pioneer with own stuffs i.e. creating their own ecosystem.

India's existing mobile operators are cash-stripped with this 3G, 4G and 2G auctions. and simply they can not afford to create a new ecosystem for 3G @900MHz which is not conventional.
