ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 (edited) CHEERS MATES!!! The first official Rimweb meet concluded with a blast today at 8:30 PM, after a quiet start at about 4.00 PM. The venue, time etc was decided sometime back, so there was no hustle bustle at the last moment. Annish Sarin (who prefers to call himself "iceman") gave me a call at about 2:30 and told that he will be there. Other members who confirmed their attendance were StaticElectricity, Chirag, Ani_meher, pretender,munnamobile etc... but at the last moment we had some withdrawals..... but hey, this is the first meet. .. and believe me guys ! we had a blast. Member Descriptions I gave a fair description of myself to annish, by stating that he could expect a "huge bulky figure, with a bulging tummy ..... sorta like a pregnant lady in a tight tee shirt" and he gave a chuckle ... but mates after I met him, i guess I understood why! he'z amazing! well experience makes anyone think different. One thing, he can sell an ice-cube to an eskimo who owns a fridge..... damn skilled at putting the word accross. he was the first person to be at the venue, by arriving about 30 mins before time. And hey the gods did bless him for his dedication, with a friendly crow downloading a nice load of holy-crap on his shirt!!!! I arrived at the venue about 3 minutes late at 4:03 pm, and after meeting iceman, we looked out for some nice place to open my lappy, and write some softwares for annish. once done, I got a call from veer, who said that he was in the park already (Simultaneously I got a call from staticelectricity too .... ) and after telling them that they could not miss two HUGE guys near the duck pond! I was shocked a little to see StaticElectricity, at first look he looked like the watchman we had at college... but once on the tech talk! OMG!!!!!!!!!! What do u mean, talking ... he raves about techie stuff man! Rocks!!! he had tagged along a friend who wanted to see Joggers park, which is very famous for the nice *AHEM* chicks!! hehe Veer or VC Bothra is one of the members from the very start, member number 56, he'z a smart chap u gotta meet. Silent and in his own world, he met ani_meher in the bus, asked each other if the other was going to joggers park, but did not bother to ask if it was for the rimweb meet! Then came Ani_meher, who is a lot interested in getting a CDMA handset from abroad onto Reliance network (Reliance engineers are u reading this?... Anil Ambani... well, i am not disturbing u now.. take rest) Last guy on the scene was OMFG!!!!! THE THINNEST OF THE LOT! : Chirag Dedhia I just came to guess that Arun has the fetish to make all thin people supermods. Look at StaticElectricity, or Chirag! believe me, if I sneeze a bit too hard, they might have been blown into the arabian sea! What we did We talked, we cracked jokes, we looked at nice females passing by (hey it was an all male gang, and if anyone was gay ... no one told me), and a few of them smoked a little... till some warning was issued. The talks varied between techie topics like AT commands and implementations, to crack sites, porn sites, warez sites, where to get what and ... well what not ! who'z complaining ... after all we were a nice gang in the middle of a park, on the beach! But one of the most special aspects of the evening was that ... all of us were looking at the skies every now and then (NO ... WE HAD NOT SUDDENLY BECOME VERY RELIGIOUS), we had many crows, who seem to be trained by the park management, cause they come and crap only on people who are not jogging!!!! and in the order of body size... first it was Annish, then staticelectricity's friend (I knew it was my turn next, so I told everyone that I was hungry and dragged everyone along for a bite). Each of us got introduced to each other, disccussed about some part of our personal lifes, some likes and dislikes, rimweb, Anujit, Vishaal etc. After all that talk, and writing some CD's for Annish, we went down to have some frankies ... and well if u ask about the total cost of the event Average Cost for each member to come to the park : 40 * 6 = 240 Total Ticket Cost : 12 Total cost of eatables : 278 Grand total : 530 So average cost incurred per user for a four hour informative meet is about Rs. 88.33/- We have more plans in the near future considering other users engagements... ani_meher 42 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 Very true, Ashok. Even I was a bit skeptic about the meet. But in the morning, I thought to give it a go. What a good decision it was! Very enjoyable evening. What was most memorable, the chats on varying topics, the beautiful chicks or the frankies, I can't tell. Ashok and Static are true techies, I am sure they've got binaries flowing in their veins along with the blood. This was my first time to meet such native techies, and it was most memorable. Veer was very silent, professional type man. If only I'd have asked him whether he was going to the rimweb meet when he met me on the bus stop, I'd have got down at the correct stop, and wouldn't have to pay fine of 14 Rs and have a 10 mins walk backwards. Annish...well, I agree wholly to Ashok. Nothing more, nothing less. Chirag was actually opposite of his avatar of that old man. He didn't seem much inclined to the tech talk, not that he didn't know, but he spoke in plain English, and not in some computer language like Ashok and Static when it came to tech-talk. He said he had illness and wouldn't eat anything, but the frankies made him change his mind. It was well enjoyed evening. I don't think anyone was left behind or anything. We will surely keep this trend of arrenging the meets once in 2-3 months. So Chirag, Ashok, Anish, Static, Veer (and static's friend), we have started a tradition! It's now a responsibility of all of us to keep it alive. The ball is in the Delhi Rimweb ins now. PS: Ashok, the snaps are great, man. Can you help me to get one of those triopods you were using? IC£MAN 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 AMAZING TIME { i appologise for the caps, but thats the best way i could mention to you all about the time we had } Ashok by far a great log. All i can say was that if god forbid i would have missed this meet, i would have missed a lot. A Powerhouse of knowledge is how i would describe Static, Ashok, Chirag, Vir & Ani. Like they say that when u in company of intellegent people you start feeling intellegent urself, thats exactly what i experienced today. Hey ! I get mine from China whenever someone goes there ... it is dirt cheap in china (I Got mine at 150/- worth in indian rupees), whereas quality tripods go up into thousands here ... I had actually planned to go alone to the meet, but then , Sankalp(a friend of mine, wanted to go to joggers park, so , i told him to just come along) So , both of us made it to joggers park, like at about 4:20.... entered the premices... strolled around a bit. I was looking for like a group of guys sitting or strolling about.... but for the like first 10 mins i culd'nt find anyone... just then my friend, whispered... "eh suro, lets get out of here before ppl take us for some GAY couple" ... so i called up ashok... and there he was sitting with annish... and mannn.. both were really BIG and hefty ppl... and i culd barely see Veer somewhere between them... lol... then we all decided to move to some shadier spot .... talked about quite some things.... all the way from movies... to tech .. to ..rimweb... even Vishal... even the crows were extatic during the meet and blessed two of them with their holy crap... one was annish ,the other was my friend... then along came aniruddh and then chirag ... oops, i forgot the intros... someone said that Fat people are jolly... and i have absolutely NO reason to doubt it now... after having a meet with ashok and annish... ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! anirudh and Veer were a bit silent.. mostly professional... dressed absolutely formally... they sure did have a professional aura sorrounding them then... we all went out for snacks and stuff... all in all it was an absolutely "Delightful" evening... Chirag 5 Report post Posted October 3, 2005 What a meet!! Glad that i made it even when i wasn't keeping well.... Was warned not to have anything outside... but went ahead wid a frankie... And i felt so much better!! Let me tell u ppl, these ppl are absolutely amazing!! Yes annish, if all goes fine, we'll surely have another meet very soon. And Khandala idea was jus too tempting! Most of us were not that much aware of each other's professions, and that was one more topic which was lit when each one came in... And annish being the eldest in the lot, gave a good insight about his field! All of it was jus too good... Wont get into describing too much, such that others would join in as well for our next meet! One date that most suggested was 24th December, the birthday of rimweb.com .... maybe we'll call it the annual meet. And if all goes well, we'll meet in the month of November as well. There is a special thanks to chirag from the whole team for enlighting us about the DAKC's Security systems, and the reception for visitors! Annish has a lot to offer about movies, how to make them etc... and above all HOW TO FREAKING SELL THEM! Static is all electric when topics come to gizmos. So if after reading it all... u are interested, comeon mates ... join down for the next meet at least .... hope to see some more guys around. Keep updated about such meets and definitely we can keep it somewhere in central delhi like CP... Since it is well connected from all parts of delhi . The park is justt buzzing with beauty everywhere. I guess they must be allowing entry to females on their beauty. Booze was strictly prohibited. (If u dont believe me .... just stare at the rocky shore behind the park, and just count the number of couples busy in whatever (psst... one of my dark-hobbies include photographing some nice chick doing her job... hehe used to do it earlier). The park has a regular bandra crowd, which is *ahem* *cough* comparable with the best, if feminene beauty is considered. Well I did personally expect 2 females from the rimweb team to turn up. but neither did.... had they come, I would have surely been on cloud nine*2 = cloud 18 Booze... well u can do that at the franky stall mate! The warning Annish got was not for boozing ... it was for a small puff of hot air that was emenating from him... and well he / us never knew that it was prohibited. Seen enuf of all that... on remembering the meet, interestingly, Annish's wide eyes on the word Porn was fun! His 6ft x 4ft screen description, freaks me, not coz i haven't watched it pehle, but watching Porn on it, is crazy! He is one cool dude. I had met Static earlier... he had been to my home, some 1yr back or so!! The rest were all new to me. Missed Manoj (pretender) and Shadik (Munna) at the meet!! Hope to see more ppl next time. And gals! phew, if we talk like this, they'll def not make it anytime ever!! But hey, we are crazy guys, like talking n faking... u can come over anyways! heh heh! I will personally be in Jaipur / Udaipur in Dec. TVM and Cochin I will be touring in Jan, and Visakhapatnam in Jan again. So if any meets are possible during those periods ... I could make it up there!!!! TVM trip will surely include a trip to pettha, to see the admin, the man who started it all!!!!! BTW : ARUN, though we from the mumbai meet know about the origin and start of RIMWEB, there are quite a few members who might be thinking that all this happened all of a sudden..... Being the admin, why dont u please let us all know the start and the journey all through out...btw, I can volunteer to make a presentation, if I get more details out..
