  1. Beetel Mobiles - Good Choice

More China phones and that too from Beetel/Bharti. Talk about a double whammy. Would not touch with even a bargepole. Even their landline phones don't last...
  2. She should think positively and use the time to compose more poetry... with the condition that she does not inflict it on other hapless inmates.
  3. I would not say all are same. Why I am repeating this again is because if people believe this and think it normal , these practices will become the order of the day and people will just accept this as an unavoidable evil. As per my personal experience, of those around me and also recent statistics presented in Parliament and sheer number of complaints online, there can be no doubt that AirHELL is the biggest looter by far. Also, in my experience, AirtHELL has never refunded anything. On the other hand Docomo has in fact refunded more than what they had taken. Of course I am in no way trying to justify their looting. But If you have to choose, at least choose the lesser evil. AirHELL is the most evil by far, and now followed by RCom, it seems. In contrast, with Idea (Mah), I have not noted a single case of looting in more than 4 years. Very roughly put, all others fall somewhere in between.
  4. Android Mobiles From India

Besides difficulty in reading smaller text, icons and stuff would also appear bigger. So basically less "info" can be displayed on screen. If you are ok with using a stylus, Swypeing may not be an issue on a resistive screen.
  5. Is that because he too will be jailed with her, as her bodyguard??? Nuts...
  6. Hey I was not hurt in any-single-way! There was nothing offensive in what you said. Chillax.
  7. Docomo strikes again!! Lotted me of about Rs. 35. Actually, I inserted the SIM in a replacement handset and wanted to check if I can access the net. The default browser loaded up their drive-in site or something. Barely glanced thru and and exited the browser. Later in the day when I checked balance it was some 30 - 40 bux less than what it should have been. Called up CC to be told that I have downloaded some Bollywood game! I told him I don't think I'v lost it yet and I never have and never will download such things. He took a complaint. Now, approx. 48 hours later, they credited Rs. 30 back to my account. Skip noting the balance once, and you risk getting ripped off anytime on whatever pretext! I can't be sure if this happened by me just starting the default browser, but it seems more than likely...
  8. Raccoon ji !!! I'm glad you are so respectful to us wild animals too....
  9. Android OS & Apps - Security Threats & Vulnerability

One time scanning of new apps seems like a great idea... hopefully on demand, so that it does not have to stay in RAM. Should be good enuf for fone environment. Will try it soon, thanks. Makes one really think - what were they thinking when they deviced it? Unencrypted tokens? Surely it does not take a genius to see that this will eventually be discovered and misused? Google ain't gonna be known for security at this rate.
  10. Hey same here. Any idea which brand and model would be the best? Which one are you going for?
  11. I guess this might be ok for someone using a VERY basic phone. Even a phone that can run Java and a lower version of Opera Mini will prolly find access thru USSD menu an awful experience.
  12. Android OS & Apps - Security Threats & Vulnerability

Just the other day a friend installed Kasp on his phone as he had more than a couple of viruses. And he complained that it slowed down his phone. But it was the Symbian version. Could depend which phone you have. Upper end phones may not see much damage to performance. Would also depend on whether it does real time scanning, etc., etc. Anyways, haven't tried it myself, so shouldn't comment further...
  13. Discounts & Deals For Non Electronics/Gadget Stuff

Any idea what this "Fashion Street" brand (or the lack of it) is? Is it literally like unbranded stuff you get on the streets? How much can it be "trusted"? As for the formal shirts - Yebhi does not see it necessary to even mention the material used...
  14. Android OS & Apps - Security Threats & Vulnerability

But 3rd party security tools make phones slow. I'm not inclined to install one for the same reason. I'd rather not do any financial transaction on the phone than make my phone any slower. Hope Google makes the market safer, reducing the need for any security apps.
  15. off topic kamal sir steam irons are not that great, I am having USHA one but after sometime I packed it. its better to have one normal iron and a bowl of water... just a suggestion Try Phillips. Using 1 for couple years and its going good except that the wire needed replacement and the non-stick coating is wearing. Despite these quality issues, its still better than others I'v used. Would prefer it over a dry iron anyday. Hey dude, still got 1 by any chance?
  16. Regarding the Indiaplaza 50% off on books offer posted sometime ago, I received a mail from them today informing that they have to cancel the order due to non availability of stock. Why do they list it then? Their excuse goes something like they have huge stock which is difficult to keep track of. And they inform after sitting on the order for so many weeks!! No replies to 3 emails sent to them. Customer service on phone promised new delivery dates twice. And this is 2nd time they have done this. They say they will keep me informed about the refund. Awesome service from Indiaplaza.in LG or Samsung may be the best bet currently. The Samsung models I considered look better and sport ceramic coated interiors which according to them is more scratch resistant and longer lasting than stainless steel. True or not, they do look better in the interior too. Some say LG is better in MWs and the ceramic stuff is a gimmick. I would avoid stuff like Onida, etc. Best bet may be Panasonic; but they are pricier. Could comment more, but I fear this might be off topic here. Tradus was nice enough to send a new code to a ph no. I had given as a refferal. Maybe they will do similar in your case. Did you mail them?
  17. Thanks a lot for this... worked for me. However, their payment system sux. Site is also returning security warnings on the payment page. got fed up and finally just settled for COD. Very tempting deals here. Have to keep asking myself if I really need the stuff... else there is tendency to spend way more than the benefit offered by the deals. Lol! As for the Indiaplaza offer posted few days ago, it has been a bad experience. The book was to be shipped ages ago and still shows as "Under Process!". Zero replies to mails. Tolled CC just keeps promising new dates or promises to call back (which they don't do). Would definitely not recommend Indiaplaza.in to anyone. Save for the 50% discount, there can be no reason to patronise them when much more reliable sellers are available.
  18. How to buy, the webpage http://www.mydala.co...al/Letsbuy_3043 has no option? Guys, this deal can be bought using this direct working link... http://www.mydala.co...7c28cfc0e6cd49b Link not working dude? Am trying from lappy.
  19. MNP Retention Offer You Received

I beg to differ. While no company may be totally above board, nobody is is as bad as AirHELL. The biggest one is by far the most evil and devious one of them all.
  20. LG Optimus One P500

Thanks! Should try it out soon. Getting rid of ads globally is a v tempting proposition.
  21. LG Optimus One P500

Cool thanks! Just checked it out. Interesting app...I use a "blacklist" on my desktop. Didn't imagine you could use the same method on Androids. But I wonder if this method will take up resources on mobs and further slow down Angry Birds... As for the dust issue - after checking in the sun yesterday, I found that the particulate count under the screen has actually increased!! Seems even thin fibers from the cleaning cloth that the technician used to open the phone are there now... and all this is somehow magnified when under the sun. I was half expecting this, considering that they worked without even an ac. So they have actually made it worse!! ARgghhhhhh! Even with an AC in a "normal" room, it would be difficult to keep the area totally dust free. I should have anticipated this and maybe not let them open it in the 1st place. Or maybe I'd have to do it anyway later, when more dust had accumulated under the screen. Perfect Catch-22 situation. Makes you appreciate how much more care companies have to take at the assembly lines... Once opened, almost impossible to get it back in the pristine state it was when it was hot off the assembly line. Trust LG to spoil an otherwise good fone thanks to such very stupid issues. What to do now??
  22. Prebook Micromax Bling 2

Lol! Well, as for me, I don't think I'd go for a Micromax. And if I do, I'd need at least 10,000 reviews before I take the risk. Pre-booking? Only a miracle would make me do that...
  23. Airtel may be oldest in Delhi, but Idea is probably the oldest in Maharashtra circle. But the network has never let me down once in years. Well, neither did RCDMA... though it did have infrequent hiccups. That was when I was using it. Airtel is on 1800 MHz in Mah., so it probably came much later (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). But still their network sux BIG time. As for Docomo, 3G did degrade their network big time... though it was supposed to be ready for it, with newer equipment and all. Though now its more or less back to its pre-3G days. So newer equipment vs. older, CDMA vs. GSM. Does it make any sense regarding the ground reality? As for AirHELL, reminds me of the last big crash, the effects of which lasted quite sometime. IIRC even the fire safety equipment was not in working state at their site.
