  2. Reliance Jio Infocomm 1800MHz Spectrum Win Confirms Takeover of Videocon Telecom Posted by Webmaster on Feb 14, 2014 in Reliance Jio Infocomm | Comments Off The 1800Mhz Spectrum Auction comes to an end with Reliance Jio Infocomm winning 14 out of the 22 Circles. R-Jio has won 5MHz-7MHz of 1800MHz spectrum in 14 circles for a total investment of ~Rs111bn. We believe it would look to complete the pan-India footprint in 1800MHz (to be used for 2G voice) through acquisition Videocon Telecom. The Circles where Reliance Jio has bid and won the Spectrum complement the circles where Mukesh Ambani backed Videocon Telecom has already secured 1800MHz spectrum in the 2012 Auction. Have a look at the chart below which compares the 1800MHz Spectrum Foot print of Videocon Telecom & Reliance Jio Infocomm. From the above chart it is evident that Reliance Jio Infocomm didn’t bid in circles where Videocon already has a footprint with the exception of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh the two states which are close to Mukesh Ambani’s industrial empire and may witness some unseen State of the Art Network Deployment and Telecom services anywhere in the world. MP was the first state which erstwhile RCom got its operating GSM license for in early 2000. The takeover of Videocon will help Reliance Jio get PAN India footprint in 1800MHz band thus augmenting the 2.3GHz 4G LTE Spectrum band.

  4. Reliance Jio Starts Deploying LTE Towers In NCR: Sources rjio-tower January 14, 2014 by Gagandeep Sodhi Comments(2) no-image Post a Comment Print | Reprint | Bookmark and Share | Email This | RSS Rate this item (0 votes) The much-awaited launch of Reliance Jio Infocomm is getting closer. The company has started deploying towers in the National Capital Region (NCR), according to reliable industry sources. "The testing phase is over now and Reliance Jio has started deploying Global Base Monopole towers in Noida and Greater Noida," said a well-placed industry source. Though the date of the launch is not known, it is no longer a secret that the company would launch operations in the metro cities of New Delhi and Mumbai. Reliance Jio Infocomm recently granted media preview of its services. (See: Reliance Jio Inches Closer To Launch.) This was corroborated by another well-placed industry source. "Yes, the towers have come up in Noida and Greater Noida and they belong to Reliance Jio. All the infrastructure deals have been closed and the company is gearing up for the launch of the services now." Reliance Jio had granted order for Li-ion telecom batteries for 10,000 Global Base Monopole (GBM) sites across the country. rjio-tower Read more at: http://www.lightreading.in/lightreadingindia/news-analysis/287077/reliance-jio-starts-deploying-lte-towers-ncr-sources?utm_source=referrence_article
  5. Rel Jio surprise entry; Loop, Videocon stay away The slugfest for spectrum got under way with eight telecom services companies entering the fray for 1800 mhz and 900 mhz airwaves in an auction beginning on February 3. Both the Ambani brothers, Mukesh and Anil, have thrown their hat in the ring with Reliance Jio and Reliance Communications deciding to put in bids. Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Tata Teleservices and Idea Cellular will also jostle for airwaves along with Aircel and Uninor (Telewings). With eight established players in the ring, the government is confident of realising more than the targeted Rs 40,874 crore non-tax revenues from the spectrum sale and usage charge. This will help finance minister P Chidambaram arrest the fiscal deficit at 4.8 per cent, much below estimates made by independent consultancies and rating agencies. Loop and Videocon Telecom have not submitted applications for spectrum in the February 3 auction. State-run BSNL and MTNL, which recently surrendered unused spectrum in different bands, also have not put in bids. The entry of Reliance Jio of Mukesh Ambani is the only surprise, as it is busy working on the launch of 4G wireless broadband services. Auctions for the two separate frequency bands will begin on February 3. Wednesday was the deadline for cellular operators to submit initial interest for participating in the auction. Withdrawals will be allowed till January 27. Telecom secretary M F Farooqui said on Wednesday that the auction would go on as per schedule without any revision. He was hopeful that by next weekend, that is much before the auctions, the annual spectrum usage charge (SUC) would be fixed and clarity would emerge on the merger and acquisition guidelines. The government proposes to levy SUC of 3-8 per cent linked to annual revenues of the telecom companies. Trai recommended a higher SUC of 3-5 per cent for all telecom companies from April 1 this year. Last month setting aside all objections, the cabinet committee on economic affairs (CCEA) adopted the Telecom Commission’s recommendations to sell pan-India 1 mhz spectrum in the 1800 mhz band at Rs 1,765 crore. It also cleared the floor prices for 900 mhz spectrum in Delhi (Rs 359 crore), Mumbai (Rs 327 crore) and Kolkata (Rs 125 crore), based on the recommendations of a ministerial group. Under the auction mallet are 403 mhz 2G spectrum in the 1800 mhz band and 45 mhz in the 900 mhz band. For the November 2012 auctions, Trai had recommended a pan-India reserve price of Rs 3,622 crore for 1 mhz in the 1800 mhz band. In the January, 2013 bidding, the regulator had brought the price down to Rs 1,496 crore. Plus, it asked for a 60 per cent cut in the reserve price for spectrum in the 900 mhz band in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. Trai had also recommended re-farming of spectrum vacated by Bharti Airtel and Vodafone without any ‘reservation.’ Loop Mobile, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone have made separate petitions before the telecom disputes settlement appellate tribunal for automatic extension of their licences without having to bid for the 900 mhz spectrum in Mumbai. Confirming participation in the auction, Bharti Enterprises’ deputy managing director Akhil Gupta said, “We will await a government decision on spectrum usage charges.”
  6. Suggest Dual SIM GSM Handset

You can try this one http://www.flipkart.com/htc-desire-sv/p/itmdfnhfzpayjksx?pid=MOBDF2GGEVSHB8AZ&ref=07d11a46-60da-4632-bf47-f1e6588d651f&srno=m_1_1&otracker=from-search&query=htc%20desire%20sv
  7. Happy New Year - 2013!

Wish everybody has a Happy and Prosperous New Year 2013.
  8. MTS has already filed a curative petition in supreme court I guess and besides this there were no takers for CDMA spectrum so possibly MTS get a chance to take that spectrum.
  9. Happy Diwali !

Wish all rimweb.in members a happy and prosperous Diwali. God bless you all.
  10. I guess there is a rule that there has to be minimum two bidders otherwise auctions will not be conducted.

  12. Nokia E5 has got the maximum features but is on verge of being phased out by nokia as it is already more than 2 years old. It is still available on flipkart. Asha 302 seems to be good. Blackberry 9320 is also good if you can compromise on features and like to pay for Blackberry services.
  13. I have blackberry 8830 world edition unlocked by verizon. I tried with reliance gsm prepaid. It worked fine. Currently, I am using it with vodafone mobile connect on my vodafone postpaid number which is dead slow. I guess BIS will work better than vodafone mobile connect.
  14. Does anybody have idea that when the minimum speed be increased to 512 KBPS and then to 1 MBPS
  15. I sold a piece of land in 2010. can I ask that buyer to pay me today's rate for that land ? i also thought in same line. thats reason foreign operator done enter into indian telecom sector. they know policy change and sink them in money invested by them Our inconsistent and uncertain environment is prohibiting FDI inflows despite of the fact that India is second most attractive hotspot for investment after china.
  16. I sold a piece of land in 2010. can I ask that buyer to pay me today's rate for that land ? Absolutely your point is valid
  17. I think Nokia and Windows are marching towards stone age.
  18. We are going back towards a socialist economy. I dont understand it has been more that 20 years and Jessica Lal murder case is still not resolved. 2g spectrum case is on verge of being closed in just two years, culprits being freed, Telecom companies and consumers will suffer. Policy making is supposed to be done any by parliament and I dont know why is the judiciary is interfering in that.
  19. Airtel Launches 4G LTE Broadband

Well said buddy. Supreme court should have cancelled Airtel's licence. They have always been monoplositic.
  20. I have a reliance gsm number in Delhi, which I wish to de-activate. I shoot an email to their customer care for the same and they replied and asked me to contact nearest web world. I understand they have taken huge amount of money from the franchises so they want us to visit them. However, it is very inconvenient when the same thing can be done over a phone call or an email like other GSM operators (Vodafone, airtel etc.). Anyways, I visited their place, they told me since it is a prepaid number you can continue using it and do not recharge it anymore, someday or the other it will be deactivated. Believe me this this is the most annoying solution I have ever heard of. I believe there should be some formal solution for the same. I have many active connections on my name and want to de-activate numbers which I do not use.
  21. Deactivating Reliance GSM Prepaid Connection

Irony is that I have a CDMA sim of reliance as well which i havent recharge for two years and it is still active. They dont want to reduce their subscribers.
  22. Best Network In Delhi?

Considering good network and tariff, I believe its: 1 Vodafone 2 Airtel 3 Idea 4 Aircel 5 Reliance CDMA 6 Reliance GSM 7 Tata Indicom 8 MTS 9 Dolphin
  23. If reliance was not looking to buy Aircel, it wouldn't do due diligence of aircel's books. Denying the same is meant to divert media's attention on the issue.
  24. Although, I have a non camera phone as my work place doesn't allow to carry a camera enabled phone. I have a Samsung Star which has a camera which I wish to carry with me. Therefore, I need your advice that is there any way to disable camera software on the phone so the camera becomes non functional. Although, I believe the the driver is housed in the operating system itself so it might not be possible. It would be great if you guys could throw some light on this.
  25. How to Disable Camera On Mobile Phone?

That is a very commonly used and good option but is not compliant as the camera is enabled.
