^ OK. So that's why I was finding that voice between two 3G phones (iphone4s & BB z10 on vodafone/airtel) seemed much clearer to me than when using BB 9650 & iphone4 on CDMA (RCdma). Will put it on 2G today and check again. BTW, will 3G coverage be spotty even inside Mumbai ? Now I am getting doubtful that maybe I should stop my porting !
-
But iphone models don't range from 5,000 to 50,000 like samsung. Nor do the chinese clones look identical to iphone or bb and they don't run the same OS.
-
My understanding was that voice is always carried over 2G, only data goes over 3G ? Otherwise they would have had different tariffs for 3G & 2G voice plans.

OK, I have forwarded by RCDMA number to RGSM and my experience yesterday on coverage and call quality was fine and so was data speed But 1 day is not enough to evaluate (i just got 3-4 calls) so will try for few more days and update. PLEASE NOTE: This is only for MUMBAI. (that too just between Bandra to Dahisar and near the Western Expressway all the time) On the other hand, I may have to be stuck with RCDMA as my office is telling me of some problem in porting due to their policies etc. Though am trying to work it through, as I really like the Z10. But will sell it off if no option. Any chance of someone of rimweb offering verizon cdma z10 for sale soon ?

Problem is that flaunting may work for ip5 or htc1 or bb z10, but flaunting samsung doesn't work - everyone has identical looking handsets whether samsung or chinese clones. You would have to keep your galaxy in Settings>About>Phone screen all the time i guess and keep pointing out the cpu/kernel versions !

The simplest way to do is use Win2Flash and make bootable ISO on your PC. then use any software to write these ISO file on CD.. If you want to make a bootable Windows Installation USB Pendrive/flashdrive then win2flash is good. However, if you need a LIVE windows CD/USB then other options mentioned can be used. Since he has mentioned a CD, I am guessing it may not be for installation as bootable windows CD images are already available and can be written/burned to a CD Or a windows install CD can be imaged and burned to another CD etc etc.
-
I have used Bart's PE and it works fine: Its a stripped down windows XP. But I would recomend that you use Win7 as its simpler to make Live CD or USB for win7 since temp file writing doesn't have to be hacked. See here OR here - you will need to download winbuilder which will do everything with a GUI / graphically I can upload LIVE CD / USB image for win7 or win 8 somewhere if you are unable to make the image (or see the first few results on google search.) Tell me what is the purpose so that I can decide which image: Do you want a LIVE CD of windows which should run from CD/USB and you can use it normally. OR do you want to make a bootable CD only to install windows or format / partition drive etc ? In case of former, are you looking to install some program/application or driver also ? or just simple windows will do ?

Haven't used 3G on R-GSM but voice network had been pretty bad when we were using it in 2011. I have been using R-GSM prepaid SIM in my laptop for 3G and its been working really nice. 3 MBPS almost everywhere in Mumbai. My EVDO does 1-1.5 max. I haven't used it for calls much. But now that you have warned me I will spend next few days on calls with the R-GSM SIM and see if its OK. Thanks. Will update.
-
Reliance GSM ? or some other company ?
-
Is it that bad Rajan? Am not talking of billing issues, only 3G coverage?
-
How is Reliance GSM in Mumbai & Delhi ? I have recently asked my office to port my Reliance CDMA number to Reliance GSM as I have bought a BB Z10. If any one has any feedback please post. Since I use only 1 phone I don't want to be stuck with intermittent services etc. have been using a RGSM prepaid sim in it and I haven't found any problem yet. However, I will only be using it extensively once my primary number is ported to RGSM. Can't port to any other operator as office policy is only Reliance numbers.

^ Problem with Doc's Muse Chitrangadha is that she looks like too much 'talking & serious discussions' type of girl. Most of us being more 'action oriented' would prefer the one on the steel chair in Doc's 2nd image. More ergonomic too i guess. And healthy. Totally worth 22K ----------------------------------------------- Bought a Blackberry Z10. Amazing experience ! Even though the specs may not look bleeding edge on paper the overall experience if really unbeatable. Had been waiting for SGS4 launch, but didn't really like it so much - though its completely subjective, but I really don't like the way the galaxy line looks. And I waste too much time with android fiddling with things and apps. BB has like 2 pages of apps and a minor OS update every 1 year so its best for my productivity.

IP addresses for Mobile Data Networks
ami1 replied to ni0987's topic in General Technical Discussion
At least RCOM CDMA gives IPs which can be pinged and SSH'd into, while most 3G operators give private IPs like 10.* or 192.* I have always been able to SSH into devices connected by RCOM CDMA dongles/phones/data-cards by giving their IPs but NOT to devices connected by 3G - neither RCOM 3G nor Airtel. Have not tried others. But airtel/reliance 3G / GSM will give you a real IP if you request and make the required payments. At least that's what their guys told me. If you tell us what is your objective, maybe we can help better ? -
Get D10 dc from veedee.in - its below 6K. Read review here: http://veedee.in/forum/index.php/topic,209.0.html I have used quite a few tablets from VD and its the best option if you are looking for cheaper tablets but with excellent GPUs. They have hdmi out so you can connect to TV. And they have a USB which takes in 3G/EVDO dongles and pendrives Or you could buy the 7" Samsung Tab with 3G for which the price has been reduced to 12K only since last few days (it was 18k earlier). You can search on ebay/flipkart etc for samsung.

I have found it best to first 'practice' by putting the skin on the Back Cover (after removing the back cover from the phone, offcourse). Once you find its perfect then move on to the actual Phone. Nothing to worry though. water doesn't go inside the phone unless you soak it in a mug or something. It takes 2-3 tries (reapply soap solution to remove skin and try again. most important is when it starts drying you have to remove any krinkles by using a card or hard edge and then using your hands on any curved portions. You have to wait a minute before you can start doing this since in the begining the soap is so slippery that the skin keeps moving here and there but just in a minute it starts getting a little sticky and you have to align everything at that moment and then keep pressing all the corners and using card to remove wrinkles etc. The end result is extremely satisfying though. I have nexus s with 100% perfect skin on it - you can't find there's anything from any angle of lighting!. Even though i no longer use that phone, sometimes i just take it out to look my handiwork- 6,376 replies

Hitesh, does Verizon S3 call recording capture both sides of the conversation (without needing to put the phone on speakerphone mode) ? Does US Cellular S3 ( OMH ), do call recording ?

wow rajan, that really looks edible ! I guess HTC is back with this one - after a long run by apple & samsung. just when i had made up my mind to buy BB Z10.

Is the Xolo 1000 almost equally good ? or is there a large difference in performance.

Wow, HOLA does seem to work for most websites. Thanks Rajan. Although the speedtest.net results are for the speeds between the test server and your peer (probably a hola server right now - till enough users install hola near you and hola). I am getting 20 Mbps results on my 2 Mbps connection with a Ping time of 2-3 ms ! Similar thing used to happen when using opera mini on earlier phones, the speed shown would be between test servers and opera servers (since any website you open is actually opened by opera servers and then compressed image of the pages is sent to your not-so-smart-phone which is using opera mini)

Past few months I have been looking for a compact music system for use in bedroom. Though I have a few very basic requirements, as there's a larger system in drawing room, i have been completely unable to find a perfect model and ended up with 3 different system none of which really fulfill the required function. So I urgently need some advise about this issue. My simple requirements are :- Minimum Number of wires (ie no 5.1 type of systems; preferably wireless subwoofer etc) No too big and unwieldy Should show USB Folder names on its display (most systems only show these when you have connected a TV - but i don;t like TV in bedroom at all) Should have easy folder / file browsing At least 40-50 Watt RMS I am giving the background/history below so you can understand the problems. First ordered Sony CMT EH25 Micro hifi system from flipkart (this is really cheap at just 5-6k) This was really nice & small and cheap and shows USB folder names and has dedicated folder change button etc. BUT it was only 10 Watt RMS so i went to showroom to try the next bigger model of Sony CMT DX400A (around 8-9K) However, in this model there's no folder name display (it will display on TV if you connect) so I didn't buy it. Instead i explored and then ordered this Philips MCD 388 which mentioned folder browsing etc. (~15K but i got for 12K) Now this is a beautiful system with wireless sub-woofer, small size, really loud 100 Watt RMS and Great Bass, No wires etc even in the main unit, motorized Slot loading DVD, front USB & SD Card, small cute remote etc But for the life of me I can NOT browse USB folders unless there's a TV connected. Philips says that's what they meant in ad. If you connect a TV the browsing is just like a PC with folders and up/down enter/back etc. Tried many work arounds like have 5-6 different USB pendrives with different type of music on them and only 1-2 folders but its not practical. AND i have long ago thrown away all my CD/DVDs/Tapes and have only flac/mp3 music now. So then I again explored and got a Sony MHC GZR5D This one has a huge 240 Watt RMS (2600 watt PMPO), 3 CD changer, CD/Tape/Radio to MP3 recording etc BUT the main unit is 18 inches deep (which is not evident from the front) speakers are only 6-7 inches deep but main unit juts out of my 12 inch deep shelf ready to topple. Also, though it has a dedicated Folders browse +/- button, the display only shows numbers not names for folders (unless you connect TV) I have seen a lot of ipod/iphone Dock type of systems also but they don't really serve the purpose though they are small. Though a Denon N7 would fulfil all criteria plus play files streamed over wifi from my PC, but I don't want to spend 35-40K on a secondary system for the bedroom. N7 is only 11.7 inches deep (speakers are 11") and displays folder/file names and has a folder +/- button on remote. So, any one has any idea for a suitable Micro HiFi / Bookshelf system with reasonable size and good USB browsing ?

Please Suggest a Good Micro Hi Fi / Bookshelf Music System...
ami1 replied to ami1's topic in The Lounge
Just to update, have finally bought Denon N5 after selling all the other systems. N5 is absolutely perfect for the stated requirements - small size, easy to clean, no jumble of wires, completely sealed speakers etc. Has WiFi and does Apple Airplay, plus remote on iphone & android and internet radio and playing from windows media player library over the network, apart form very good USB browsing and really good volume, clarity & bass. (even though the system & speakers are extremely small)- 4 replies

When you add gmail it gives an option to sync contacts and calender. Go to: SETUP > Email Accounts > Internet Email > Gmail > Synchronization Options and select Contacts. At least I get that option on BB 9650 on all OS 6 ROMs.

Try using incognito mode of chrome. And I had used US proxy (proXPN) as suggested by DigitalNirvana in earlier post - don't know if that was required but i did just to be sure. EDIT: I think the program code is deactivated now. I tried again with all types of email IDs and its not working. I think it is high time MS realizes that pricing at reasonable levels for countries like India can get them huge volumes.- 6,376 replies
