  1. iPhone On Verizon Early Next Year

That says it all. Apple share will remain at that or less even if it launches in CDMA if it sticks to the absurd pricing model adopted in GSM in India.

  6. Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability

Source: The Tribune MNP unlikely this year Girja Shankar Kaura/Tribune News Service New Delhi, October 14 Mobile number portability (MNP) is likely to be delayed by a few more months with no clarity on the company chosen for its roll out. The Tribune had earlier reported that MNP was set to miss its October 31 deadline with the home ministry objecting to the clearance given to the chosen company on security grounds. Reports now suggest that the roll out of MNP may happen only in the next calendar year as not only MNP Interconnection, in which US-based Telcordia holds 74 percent, was still to get the FIPB clearance but a number of telecom operators have also expressed their inability to roll out the service by October 31. MNP Interconnection was one of the two number portability operators selected by the government to offer services in the country. The other was Syniverse Technologies Inc. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) issued show cause notice to Telcordia stating that why its licence for MNP should not be cancelled. Telcordia has time till the third week of October to respond to DoT, which may lead to a delay in troll out. The home ministry's main objection was that Telecordia managed number portability in Pakistan too. Subsequently, Telecordia filed an appeal at the FIPB against cancellation of approval. DoT also has the option of asking Syniverse to manage number portability.
  7. Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability

Source: Mail Today Cell No. swap deadline to be missed again Telecom operators with high stakes in the Indian market have been lobbying hard in the corridors of power to scuttle the roll- out of mobile number portability (MNP) and have managed to succeed yet again, dashing hopes of it becoming a reality from October 31, the government's latest deadline for its execution. Officials said that the MNP may be pushed forward by two to three months. The chances of the MNP being rolled out from October 31 is remote given that there has been no official communication to Syniverse Technologies Inc on managing MNP across all the 23 circles in the country. 'Unhappy users keen on MNP' Close to one in five (18 per cent) Indian mobile phone subscribers intend to switch their operator when MNP is introduced, says a study by Nielsen research on consumer attitude and behaviour toward mobile operators in India. The survey, which was conducted last year, included 12,500 mobile subscribers across 50 locations in India. One in four Reliance Communications (RCom) and Tata Indicom subscribers will be keen to change their operator when MNP is rolled out, followed by close to one in five (19 per cent) of BSNL subscribers. While the Centre has selected Syniverse Technologies Inc and Telcordia Technologies Inc to manage number portability in the country, the latter is yet to get the security clearance from India's home ministry. "We are working on MNP. We have not been approached by the government if we need to single handedly manage MNP. We do not anticipate that," Sanjay Kasturia, who heads Syniverse's India operations, told Mail Today. Syniverse has, meanwhile, begun testing the preparedness of the infrastructure set up for the MNP roll- out. MNP will offer subscribers the option to retain their number while changing the telecom operator. When MNP is implemented, it will offer number portability only within a circle (meaning a state in most cases). Operators, especially bigger ones who have been around longer, have for long been dragging their feet on rolling out MNP in India for fear of losing existing customers. They fear that dissatisfied mobile users may switch to other operators once the MNP is rolled out. The roll- out of number portability in the country has been deferred thrice. It was initially supposed to be put into place by December 31, 2009, in metro cities across the country. The deadline was later deferred to March 31, 2010, and then to June 30, 2010. The government had set October 31 as the new deadline for MNP roll- out across all 23 telecom circles in India. Telcordia Technologies got approval from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) for the MNP project in March 2009 but the home ministry revoked the clearance in August, citing security concerns saying it has operations in Pakistan. Telcordia explained that it was only a software vendor for Pakistan operations and had no other business interests there. But the Centre is not convinced. The department of telecom (DoT) has issued a show- cause notice to Telcordia asking why its licence for MNP should not be cancelled. Telcordia has time till the third week of October to respond to DoT's queries. A top official said that telecom lobbies have been creating trouble for the US- based Telcordia Technologies Inc by raking up the issue concerning its operations in Pakistan. This was aimed at delaying MNP implementation, the official said. Also, the state- run operators, who were till now blamed for delaying MNP, have confirmed that they are ready for MNP. "We are ready for MNP but I cannot comment on the status of MNP implementation," BSNL chairman and managing director Gopal Das told Mail Today.

  9. Electronics: Philips BDP 7500 Blu-ray Player Source: Received in my inbox as i am a Futurebazaar member. Advertiser: Futurebazaar Online Deal Applicability: Till stocks last Deal Product: Philips BDP 7500 Blu-ray Player at Rs. 12,790/- MRP. Rs. 25,990/-. This is Philips widely appreciated blu-ray player which was actually selling at 24K just some days back. One would wonder why spend Rs. 12,790/- when Sony's blu-ray player is available at Rs. 9,990/-. There is a crucial difference. Most of the blu-ray players including Sony's Rs .9,990/- player has only Stereo Analogue output. (In digital full 7.1 HD Audio is available). Many people have existing home theaters with 5.1 Channel analogue audio. So if you want to enjoy true HD Audio, you will be stuck in this case as you need to invest in a new digital system. This Philips player has 7.1 Channel Analogue Output also in addition to Digital Outputs. Plus this is Blu-ray 3D ready after a firmware upgrade. 13. The Commonwealth Games Mess

This is what happens in India. Everybody forgets including media once the headline news are over. Before the games opening, govt. did not want to investigate saying India's pride is involved, let the games be over. Now the impending visit of Obama in November gives govt. one more reason to invoke that stupid pride of India theory. Where is that pride when more than 2 Lac farmers have committed suicide for as paltry debts as 10k? This blog entry on Times of India is worth reading. I declare the games shut. Let the audit begin. http://blogs.timesof...he-audits-begin

  15. Source: Techtree Google has announced that paid apps on Android platform will be available in 20 more countries that also includes India. With popularity of Android OS based handsets growing worldwide and given the stiff competition from Apple App Store and Nokia's OVI store, Google has decided to expand paid apps portfolio to more countries. This certainly helps Android inch closer to Apple App Store in terms of selling paid Apps in more countries. Paid Apps for Android were limited only to select countries and free apps in several countries were looked upon as limiting and non-trustworthy. Google has also introduced new licensing service to avoid misuse of apps. Eric Chu, Google Mobile platform manager for Android, stated in a blog post at the official Android Developers blog that widespread adoption has brought with it growing interest in Android Market's support for buying and selling of paid applications in these additional countries. The Android Market in two weeks will be able to reach out to 32 countries of which the new additions are: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, and Taiwan. Compared to Google Android's paid apps reach (32 countries), Apple sells paid apps in 90 countries while Nokia sells its paid apps in 190 countries already. Thus Google has loads of catching up to do. But this is certainly a big step in the right direction.
  16. Lsp 350r Problem

If this was bought from Reliance and you are using a Reliance connection on it, then as per the terms, the handset is the property of Reliance even after you paying a sum for it. Consequently, Reliance undertakes all repair, replacement free of cost. I had the same issue in LG LSI-110. Called Reliance CC, service guy came, replaced battery free of cost and it worked fine.

  20. I would second Tanveer's advice regarding Onkyo 3100. This is alongwith a receiver and hence gives far wider options than just a 5.1 speaker set in case of Logitech Z-5500.
  21. Lets Ask Arun

Can we have a search criteria wherein members can be searched according to their reputation points by using advanced filters. Like we have post count more than or less than, can a field be added for reputation points in advanced filter options? I do not see any such filter in advanced filter.
  22. Raja In Russia

This are just diplomatic niceties exhchanged. Nothing concrete can emerge. See the contradiction in the statement itself. "Raja is the first Indian Telecom and IT Minister to visit Russia after a gap of nine years since the former IT Minister Pramod Mahajan's Moscow visit in September 2001. The government then had vowed to invest heavily in the Russian IT sector, famous for its hi-end software". Nothing came out of it. "India and Russia could set up a joint venture for producing telecom hardware to meet the growing domestic demand even as government readies to roll out 3G and WiMax broadband in the country, Telecom and IT Minister A Raja said today". See the word could set up!!! By the time they set up if at all, 3g and Wimax networks would have rolled out in India as first 3g rollout by Diwali is already announced by Tata Docomo. Almost all other operators who have won 3g spectrum has already ordered for their equipments. I wonder who will be their customer? Russia have always stood for India. It is India who slipped away in the relationship since 1992 after Russia's disintegration and the urge to be more friendly with US.
  23. Your Latest Hardware Purchase

IF you can wait for original release all movies comes in MKV in net...playable in most players via USB drive I Know. Seen Many. But MKV though very good at compression and retaining original quality to a large extent can never match true 1080p Original Blu Ray Disc output played from a Good Blu-Ray player on a quality Full HD Tv. Besides you loose True-HD audio. See here what i am trying to explain http://www.rimweb.in...post__p__204276
