  1. Smartphones that will work on Reliance 4G

Lenovo Vibe P1 currently do not support VOLTE. But it is hardware capable so if a software update is provided, VOLTE will work. For india LTE bands it supports band 3 & 40 but no support for band 5 (800+ Mhz current CDMA being vacated by R Com for 4G upgrade)

  4. Smartphones that will work on Reliance 4G

Jio has pan india spectrum in band 40 - 2300Mhz. It also has Band 5 - 850 Mhz sharing with Reliance. It further acquired in auction band 3 - 1800 Mhz in some circles. If Jio's 4G for Reliance CDMA upgrade customers is deployed on band 5, it will also deploy 4G in band 3 & 40. Otherwise what Jio will do with spectrum in band 3 & 40? My proposition is that a 4G handset with band 3 support should work in some circles & with band 40 support should work in all circles for data. (VOLTE will depend on handset support). Handset without VOLTE support should also work for voice as Jio has Pan India agreement with BSNL & Reliance Communication for 2G/3G voice fallback. So the conclusion is, All handset with particular deployed 4G band in respective circle but without VOLTE will latch on either BSNL or R COM GSM network for voice All handset with particular deployed 4G band in respective circle but with VOLTE will use Jio data network for Voice & will switch to 2G/3G voice fallback where Jio coverage ends. Is my understanding correct?
  5. Supreme Court dismisses 4G spectrum case against Reliance Jio Source Supreme Court has dismissed a plea challenging 4G spectrum allocation to Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL). In a ruling, the country's apex court said that there are no irregularities in spectrum allocation and turned down plea for CBI inquiry. Regarding the charge of allowing Reliance Jio to offer voice service on 4G spectrum, SC said that it is for the government to take a decision. The case was filed by an NGO challenging grant of 4G licences to Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio. The apex court had earlier issued notice to the Centre, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and RJIL on the petition of Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL) challenging the government's decision to allow Mukesh Ambani's company to offer voice services on its 4G spectrum. The PIL, filed through Bhushan, had also sought quashing of the permission granted by the government to Reliance for providing voice telephony on Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum and pitched for a court-monitored CBI investigation in the alleged Rs 40,000 crore scam. The petition said that the Centre's decision to allow voice telephony has given undue benefit of about Rs 22,842 crore to RJIL and corresponding loss to the Government and "is therefore arbitrary, unreasonable and discriminatory". It had also alleged that the company was allowed "backdoor entry" into voice telephony using BWA spectrum by paying entry fee of meagre amount of Rs 1,658 crore determined way back in 2001, a figure which has been rejected by the apex court in its February 2, 2012 judgement in 2G spectrum allocation scam case. The petition had claimed that the decision not to increase the Spectrum Usage Charges to the same level as is being paid by the other operators who provide voice telephony under Unified Access Services licence, was discriminatory.

  9. Asked Gionee india and they have also confirmed that Marathon M5 does not support VOLTE.
  10. ^ ^ ^ So only VOLTE for voice? No CSFB fallback in RJIO?
  11. LTE band support and VOLTE support are two different things. LTE band support means data is supported. For VOLTE two things needed, -Hardware support from mobile chipset -Feature enabled in software Gionee Marathon M5 has Mediatek MT6735 processor. No clarity whether it supports VOLTE. Can you check in settings whether anywhere Enable VOLTE or similar setting is showing?
  12. Is Gionee Marathon M5 VOLTE (Voice Over LTE) capable for use on Reliance Jio?
  13. ^ ^ ^ Rumours are floating for 10GB of 4G data at Rs 600 >> Reliance Jio 4G to offer 10 GB at Rs 600, 60% cheaper than Airtel, Vodafone at launch
  14. EVDO is backward compatible with 1X so it should support.
  15. GSM 3G/CDMA EVDO Phones Below Rs 10,000 GSM 3G is here and CDMA EVDO was already in place. Next thing you want is an affordable 3G/EVDO Phone. I feel not everyone is looking for buying those 20-25K phones, neither can most people afford it. So thought of compiling this list. For this roundup, my criteria was following, -Price Below Rs 10,000 -Real 3G Phone. GSM Phones advertising 3G but having 384kbps speed is excluded. -For CDMA, 1x speed phones are excluded. -Also imported CDMA phones excluded as Official EVDO on them still not possible. (I know some members using but still it's not available for public at large easily, Also won't fit into Rs 10,000) With this criteria, my search yielded following choices for 3G/EVDO Phones below Rs 10,000. All Prices are Online. Happy And Economical Buying....Enjoy.... Please post phones missed out fulfilling the above criteria and i will update. Thanks. 16. Verizon Galaxy Note II - GSM Unlock - Add APN Data - Remove Non-Verizon SIM Message Source Topic This is great info. We have one of the best phone now working with GSM Data. CDMA Voice with SIM Card should work without any change & CDMA Data through SIM can also be tried through this APN method. I think we may have another best seller on our hand after Incredible 2 which works on CDMA & GSM SIM Card with Data! How to add APN data: In order to get data working you have to add carrier specific data to the apns-conf.xml file. While you may have been able to do this is in the past on other devices under settings, VZW has blocked this. Method 1: Flashable mod (via custom recovery) that will enable the Add APN menu by removing Verizon's block.(For deodexed roms only) >> http://www.mediafire.com/?wqmad2ypgsyd75z This enables the apn editor under settings. Go to Settings, More Settings, Mobile Networks, Access Point Names, menu button. Method 2: Ensure your phone is rooted adb pull /system/etc/apns-conf.xml Add the carrier data to apns-conf.xml with your favorite text/xml editor and save adb push your modified apn-conf.xml file back to /sdcard/ Copy this file back to /system/etc/ and change permissions (I use root explorer) Power down and change your SIM card (AT&T, T-mobile, whatever) if you hadn't already done so Power back on and go to Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names (if done properly you should see the APN data you entered for your respective carrier). Select one of the APN listings and then you should have working data Profit Removing the Non-Verizon SIM message When Using a Non Verizon SIM Card: This will occur on roms that include Samsung's Setup Wizard (including stock) - all others can ignore Method 1: - Freeze "Setup wizard 1.0" in Titanium Backup Method 2: Download THIS APK for a deodexed ROM only and replace the original in /system/app/, then reboot. Make sure that /system is mounted as read/write before copy/pasting, and also that you're on a deodexed ROM. After copying it over, reboot and you shouldn't have the ongoing notification anymore.

  22. List of CDMA + GSM Handsets

Good deal for the price but it is not CDMA + GSM Dual SIM. It's CDMA or GSM Single SIM. Also heard that it does not support standard 4G band in india on which Airtel 4G is launched.
