Updated: Pesky SMSs/Calls: Major relief to users from March 21, 2011
santanu@impaq replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Even with these restrictions I shall be happy if properly implemented. I have a 98100XXXXX Airtel No in Delhi and get about 25 to 40 SMS and upto 3 ~ 5 such calls everyday. Till now DND was fairly useless. But I still believe, we will not be spared from these pesky SMSes and Unsolicited Calls -

TATA & ZTE Tests Evdo Rev. B
santanu@impaq replied to kesav's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
TATA is not offering EVDO in Orissa , West bengal , Most parts of Bihar etc etc. From what I was told by a TATA employee in Okhla Office is that equipment deployed in those areas cannot be used for EVDO and that they have not been able to deploy the backbone for the data traffic. But I could not understand why, and technically he was not able to explain convincingly. -

MTS India Launches CDMA EV-DO Rev.B Phase-II Network - MBlaze Ultra with 9.8 Mbps speed
santanu@impaq replied to alugobi's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
For EVDO Rev B 3x they need to use 3 adjacent carriers of 1.25Mhz totalling 3.75 Mhz. Then what will be left for 1x voice channels. Also the subscribers will need to buy new modems and these companies will make money from it. -
Will Reliance shut down CDMA voice services?
santanu@impaq replied to suvirajshetty's topic in Reliance Communications
Fully agreed with Hitesh I think this topic is being pondered endlessly. No CDMA operator is winding up. It is just that they will not make further investment in Infrastructure of CDMA. They will try to garner as much spectrum as possible in the GSM 2G bands and then offer goodies to voice subscribers to port to GSM. They will use the CDMA primarily for fastest possible EVDO format because those are software upgradation and does not require infrastructure modifications. Any EVDO format at 800/850 Mhz will have inherent advantages of better penetration as compared to any technology based on 2100 Mhz. They expect to give better indoor coverage then competing technologies It is their long term planning. Just wait and watch -

MTS India Launches CDMA EV-DO Rev.B Phase-II Network - MBlaze Ultra with 9.8 Mbps speed
santanu@impaq replied to alugobi's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Surely MTS will offfer some locked handsets and make money from unsuspecting customers. After a few months all customers will cry since due to increased no of users, the effective speeds will come down. All part of strategies of the incumbent operators. -
MTS India Launches CDMA EV-DO Rev.B Phase-II Network - MBlaze Ultra with 9.8 Mbps speed
santanu@impaq replied to alugobi's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Very correctly described by Rajan ji. EVDO RevB-II uses two 1.25 Mhz adjacent channels each capable of 4.9Mbps totalling 9.8 Mbps but the fact remains that this allocation is shared amongs all the users simultaneously connected to the particular tower. More the users, less the effective bandwidth available per user. But having said that, the 3 fold increase in Bandwidth would be able to accomodate more users / more speed per user. The challenge to the existing operators is to use existing hardware and infrastructure and offer better speeds by software upgradation. Technologies like LTE require deployment of totally new hardware ( spectrum issues not withstanding ) -

I checked with Sony service centre at Mohan-Coop at Okhla and they said warranty is valid for all products purchased from sony dealer in India with proper Invoice. It does not matter whether from showroom / shop or online. We can verify by actually taking some item for a warranty claim to them.- 6,376 replies
