  1. Trai To Script Vas Norms

LBS (Location Based Services) are really good boon for business and people. It has potential to bring a revolution in our day to day life. It must be supported and Govt must come up with favorable and progressive regulations. As @raccoon says privacy is a very key point. Regulations must ensure that subscribers will have complete knowledge about the entities(Individuals/Companies) to whom their location will be made available. It's should be "do know" approach where by default nobody knows the location and thereafter subscriber can share his location to individuals/companies whom he wants to share by way of activating.
  2. Summer Trainees At TRAI

Parking our frustrations for a moment, TRAI is the benchmark regulator in India for other regulators like SEBI, RBI, IRDA etc., TRAI has also carved a niche in the global telecom regulatory space which all the telecom regulators in the world are trying to emulate. The key factors which have attracted the global telecom regulators towards TRAI are (1) Soft touch regulation in tariff (2) Technology neutral approach (3) Pro-competitive directions (4) Vast and wider consultation process Success of the TRAI lies in its forward march even when DoT tried to pull in opposite direction with its inefficiencies and corruption. TRAI would have taken Indian telecom space to the much higher level if not for DoT's irregularities. The clear testimony to the success of TRAI lies in the criticism vented out by telecom players like Airtel, Vodafone,Idea, RCOM, TATA and so on...... A regulator is successful only when the incumbents feel the heat continuously.

  8. Television Orders - TRAI

SC stays TDSAT order; Broadcasters to charge DTH/IPTV/HITS operators at 42% of Cable Operators charge source:: http://profit.ndtv.com/news/show/sc-stays-tdsat-order-raises-rates-for-dth-operators-149881 SC has settled at the half-way mark between the existing rate of 50% and the TRAI's recommendation of 35%. (50+35)/2 = 42. 5 ~= 42 Let us hope DTH operators will pass on this benefit to end customers. Many may call this hope as tooooo optimistic....
  9. Rajasthan.....forget about EVDO..... Reliance expands EVDO only in the circles where they don't have HSDPA spectrum... Jodhpur is already covered with HSDPA...Enjoy... http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/personal/3G/HTML/index.html My dear friend, for new customers 5GB plan actually cost only Rs. 750 on postpaid segment when Rs. 200 discount is considered.

  11. BTS location is must if you're talking about integrating in google map/earth. Unless you've BTS location, the zoom feature of these(google map/earth) applications will render the coverage colour untenable and erratic. Hence, BTS location along with respective BTS's coverage will be useful. It'll give better information at any zoom level on these(google earth/map) applications.
  12. For the first time in the world, we're seeing a OMH EVDO/HSDPA device which can literally work with any SIM or OMH RUIM of the world..... 14. RCOM has that option with BTS location over google map. http://network.rcom.co.in/ But unfortunately, it's not getting updated at all. :NOTriste: :mad44: Total waste of remarkable initiative.... HSDPA coverage has not yet been started showing in the site.... I don't understand the difference between CMDA, Homephone and Netconnect 1X. Indeed all those refers to same CDMA 800MHz 1x BTS. :D :bash:

  16. Videocon 3D Capable HD DVR DTH

TATA Sky HD and TATA Sky HD+ are 3D-ready boxes. http://www.tatasky.com/tata-sky-faqs.html#3d
  17. The mentioned changes are visible in BSNL website. http://bsnl.co.in/service/3G/3G_files/3g.htm The most hilarious part is BSNL forgot to revise the top-up voucher rate. As per new revision, Rs. 200 RCV gives 512 MB with 30 days validity. but the old top-up of Rs. 197 which gives just 500 MB with zero validity remains unchanged. :Contento: :rofl_200: BSNL never forgets to enthrall people with such piece-meal ridiculous revisions. :Riendo:
  18. Appeal To Reliance For Data Plans

The base tariffs are listed below. BSNL-GSM -- 2p/10 KB (approx. Rs. 2/MB) TATA Docomo -- 1p/KB (approx. Rs. 10/MB) RCOM-GSM -- 10p/10 KB (approx. Rs. 10/MB) Airtel -- 30p/20 KB (approx. Rs. 15/MB) Vodafone -- 10p/10 KB (approx. Rs. 10/MB) Aircel -- 10p/10 KB (approx. Rs. 10/MB) MTS -- Rs. 2/MB TATA Indicom has astonishing base tariff of 50p/MB on prepaid for lifetime on FRC99 or STV17. BSNL-CDMA also has default tariff of 50p/MB. So overall, Rs. 5/MB is a good suggestion but rather competitive tariff would be Rs. 2/MB. Signed...
  19. As promised RCOM has hit 140 cities/towns in HSDPA. http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/personal/3G/HTML/index.html With this expansion, RCOM has truly become pan-India 3G player with EVDO coverage for over 520 cities/towns and HSDPA coverage over 140 cities/towns. There's no populous town left in India which has not felt the 3G breeze of Reliance either in the form of EVDO or in the form of HSDPA. We salute RCOM for achieving such a stupendous feat in such a very short time. :hi2: What we need from RCOM now is dual-mode(HSDPA/EVDO) 3G handsets and dual-mode 3G dongles and dual-mode 3G WiFi hubs for seamless roaming across India. TATA has already started that convergence in the form of their 3G WiFi Hub.
  20. Fortunately RCOM does not charge for data consumed in Mobile TV. http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/personal/3G/HTML/mobileTV_overview.html
  21. OFF-TOPIC:: Many thanks for your kind words..... Many personal things have stopped me from visiting Rimweb for some time and certainly TN election is one among them.... Don't imagine too much.....just as a voter...nothing else...... :Riendo: When energetic people like you are there in the forum, it'll keep up its pace......
  22. I completely agree on the point that our Govt is totally spineless on enforcement of such important security measure. At the same time, RIM is totally unethical and irresponsible in its dealing on this matter with Indian Govt which you can easily understand if you spare time to go through entire thread...... RIM has tried to arm twist the Govt first through media and then through Canadian Govt and then by dragging their competitors and so on..... RIM was never ever transparent on this issue........
  23. Now 4 more channels added into the list. Added channels are true HD channels 1) Star World HD 2) Star Movies HD 3) Star Gold HD 4) Sony MAX HD -- Temporary channel for IPL I also want to confirm that Star Plus HD is a true HD channel and not expanded SD version. All these 4 channels are now available in TATA Sky HD or TATA Sky HD+
  24. Tata Docomo Launches 3G Wi-Fi Hub – Dual Mode Device for Rs. 5999 source :: http://telecomtalk.info/tata-docomo-launches-3g-wi-fi-hub-dual-mode-device-for-rs-5999/62690/ It's a fantastic and fabulous move by TATA. It's a pioneering move by TATA. It ensures nation wide on-net data roaming for their HSDPA customers. It's a convergence at its best.  :hi2: :hi2: http://tatadocomo.com/3g-wifi-hub.aspx It's an ZTE product http://tatadocomo.com/downloads/Quick%20guide_3G%20Wifi%20hub.PDF The only missing thing from TATA is their poor EVDO coverage in comparison with RCOM and MTS. Hope RCOM and BSNL being other dual-tech operators will follow suit sooner than later.... It's time for us to wait for ZTE to launch the same product in open market sooner. Let us hope and pray that this will lead to launch of such dual-mode 3G handsets sooner in the market....
