  1. Handset Launches - News Snippets

Lol.. Not long ago - there used to be 5-inch tablet called Dell Streak Now we'll have 7-inch phone!
  2. If you're fine with 3.5-inch screen (iPhone screen size until iPhone 5) - then Huawei Ascend Y210D -pretty good phone within your budget and Huawei is one of the top 5 smartphone manufacturer in the world! I've myself used many Huawei phones - from cheap feature phones and smartphones - really good quality. Also, I would recommend you to stay away from the GSM+GSM (Dual-SIM, no 3G) phones in this price range, as that particular chipset (1/1.2GHz Cortex-A5 with dual-SIM GSM) is brand new chinese chipset and not quite known for good quality and stable software.
  3. In that range, go for any Qualcomm Snapdragon based Karbonn mobile - pretty decent and value for money
  4. True. I feel, only eBay like take commission + monitoring quality of service - kind of model would work. It's simply too difficult to deliver having own warehouse, using Indian couriers, or starting own logistics - not a single direct selling model website has made it big in India yet - even flipkart has become very expensive now and quality of service is degrading. In eBay model, the presence of third-party who escrows the money makes it difficult for sellers to cheat or delay.
  5. If they support OMH, they can be used directly, but if they don't support, it might be very difficult to make it work - may be reputed sellers would be able to answer if it's possible. Also, I think some operators in China use some other version of CDMA protocol (TD-SCDMA) not compatible with Indian CDMA network.
  6. Samsung Galaxy S IV - The Next Big Thing!

To answer your question directly, yeah, this seems to the Samsung Exynos octa, not Snapdragon 600 quad. 1.6GHz Cortex-A15 quad-core is half of the Exynos octa core chipset - I think they missed out the Cortex-A7 quad-core (Exynos octa core is quad-core Cortex-A15+ quad-core Cortex-A7, only one set could be running at a time)
  7. Best Of Internet

  8. Ecommerce Websites - Good, Bad and Ugly!

Wow, the big consolidation of Indian shopping sites has started!
  9. New Online Reservation Website For Indian Railways

Train Movement should be taken care of by the implementer of the technology, as given in the article, they seem to have multiple fallbacks planned. Remains to be seen when it gets wide implementation.
  10. New Online Reservation Website For Indian Railways

Free model should work fine as long as the service is only in Rajdhani, Shatabdi & Duronto - most airports provide free wi-fi and most work fine.
  11. HTC One - The New Android Flagship

Wow. After seeing the Teardown, I wonder how the service center people themselves would fix something on the HTC One? (Simple - no repairs, only replacements! Once your warranty is down - you're down )
  12. Ecommerce Websites - Good, Bad and Ugly!

About time they did that - lots of cheated users and undelivered orders - timtara was the black spot of Indian online shopping scene. Due to guys like these, now more people would be scared to shop online and send our beloved online shopping sites into bankruptcy!
  13. I guess he is currently on GSM (Airtel) for his BB Torch also. If he's moving from BB Torch to Android being on same GSM network - it wouldn't make any difference as both BB and Android would be using the same data connections. Android's Exchange sync is equivalent to BB Mail services (supports push mail) - so he can definitely move to Android with similar or better email access. You might want to recommend him a QWERTY android phone.
  14. Budget 2013-14: 6% Duty on Mobile Phones

You guys are right - All my customs after the announcement have been calculated at 7% But one improvement I observed over earlier customs duty is that - earlier in many cases, they used to inflate the mobile value (mark a $100 phone as 12000 / 15000) and charge customs on that, but now they seem to charge 7% mostly on the actual $ value. So at least for me, the old % and newer % is working out to almost similar.
  15. Non SMS Stuff

Too good. Laughed so much after a long time
  16. Samsung Nexus 4G CDMA, Number with name not display.

I would recommend third-party firmware like Cyanogenmod or AOKP - they've T9 dialer and lot of more features compared to stock / AOSP and are very stable on Nexus devices. Or for your purpose, like someone earlier suggester - get other Dialer / contacts app from Play Store. As a sideline, I wanted to check with RIMweb experts what happens to CDMA programming, MEID registration / activation and all when you flash ROMs on CDMA android phones? Are they kept intact or do we have to do anything? I've flashed custom ROMs and MODs on so many GSM android phones but very new to CDMA android phones.
  17. Please Suggest Reliance CDMA QWERT Smartphone

Sorry for the wrong suggestion. I'd tried activating Kyocera Rise - but couldn't seem to find a way to find or buy the MSL/SPC code. Please stay away from Kyocera Rise. It's a good wifi device though and serves my project well, but won't be able to activate in Reliance/TATA.
  18. Suggestions for CDMA handset with keypad

I remember long back our reputed sellers were selling imported Samsung Smooth (flip keypad only) for 1-1.5K range. If there is enough demand, maybe some body in the seller group can procure a batch of Smooth's or similar phones. Availability of cdma featurephones in US appears to be better than in India
  19. Google Nexus 7 Tablet

This is a good direction - I was surprised to see "Devices" option in Indian Play Store. If they sell Nexus 4 base version in Indian Play Store for anything around 20K - that would sell hot. But considering the price difference between Nexus 7 in US ($199) and India (15999 Rs.), I think they would probably sell at 25K which is what the price for imported Nexus 4 anyway. Also, given Nexus 4's demand, doesn't really make sense for Google to make much efforts to get it to Indian Play Store.
  20. Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> Go to your gmail account -> Menu -> Remove account. (You can add another gmail account from the same menu) Factory reset will also remove the existing gmail account from the phone, but that's the last resort
  21. I've used this personally for my last phone flashing - straight from Hetal, and only one word to say - awesome! I would never want to use CDMA WS / QPST / anything else again. Thanks Hetal for this giant leap advancement in CDMA flashing.
  22. Please Suggest Reliance CDMA QWERT Smartphone

I got quote for Pantech Burst all-inclusive from ishopinternational for 7446 - you could try with them if you want to switch to gsm. Please contact our trusted sellers for unlock / activation on reliance cdma.
  23. Please Suggest Reliance CDMA QWERT Smartphone

Pantech Burst is GSM I think OP is asking for CDMA - this might be the first time a GSM phone is cheaper than similar CDMA phone on rimweb
  24. Can we do something like this with a Palm pixi plus back cover and Touchstone? I've one lying around - would be of good use
  25. Budget 2013-14: 6% Duty on Mobile Phones

Where did you get the effective date? I've been searching online for any references / news about the date of implementation but nothing is there. My query to ARAMEX just got replied - "policy updates in budget are from April, but duty structure is from March" Need to receive one of the SnS shipments to find out the actual case.
