Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

Recommended Posts

SQLite Editor

Allows you to edit and delete records in any SQLite database on your phone. For root users, lists all installed apps which have local internal databases. You can then select an app and edit any of its databases.
Fully integrated with Root Explorer. When browsing files in Root Explorer, selecting a database file automatically launches this app instead of the database viewer that is built into Root Explorer.
Non-root users can browse and edit databases on the SD card.
Data is displayed in a smooth scrollable grid and records can be filtered on any field value.
To quickly get to regularly accessed databases you can either add them to the bookmarks list or look on the recently accessed tab.

^^^

It seems we need to spend lot of time to learn on effectively using TASKER. I want to use TASKER for the following,

1. Answer Call by just bringing it near the ear.

2. Change the applications that we can directly go from Lockscreen

Any easy way to do the above?

Ngpay is the app I use extensively and it skewed on my tab2, so discovered this wonderful app to safely resize without bootloops etc. Have also been helpful resizing Note II SecMMS.apk (messaging app) to other Galaxy devices. It can resize weather widgets too.

no idea if this app is posted here, but every root user should have this

Greenify *ROOT*

The app itself acts like a bit of a task killer, hunting down applications that may be active in memory but not being used. This app, however, uses a different method to kill an app. The method used here not only disables the apps, but it prevents it from coming back to life, which is the failing point of most app killers. There are other ways to achieve a similar result, such as using the freezing feature of Titanium Backup, which essentially completely disables the app temporarily. However, using this approach also disables your ability to use said app. Greenify uses a method known as am force-stop pkgname as opposed to the commonly used kill. The app hunts for alarms and active ServiceRecords, which act as restore points for the app being killed and gets rid of them. This way, the app is completely disabled without actually completely disabling the app.ead.

This looks like a nifty little app for keeping the screen ON.
It should use less battery as it uses orientation sensor of the device instead of front camera in similar apps.

Isn’t it annoying when you’re reading an article or essay, or staring at the screen waiting for your friend to reply to your text message, when after 15 seconds your phone’s screen turn off? You than have to agonizingly stretch your finger to the power button, press it, unlock the phone and continue what you’re doing before you were rudely interrupted. Well, Keep Screen On knows when to keep your screen on and off.
Keep Screen On keeps your screen on when you’re using the phone or tablet, and keeps the screen off when you’re not. The app uses the built-in orientation sensor of the device to know when the device is being used. By default, the app infers an ‘inactive’ device when it detects the phone is lying flat on a surface (180 degrees), with an ‘active’ device at an angle steeper than 160 degrees. The set ‘screen-on’ time, be it 15 seconds, 1 minute, or some other duration, is than deactivated when the phone is ‘active’, meaning an indefinite ‘screen-on’ duration. The ‘screen-on’ time is than re-activated when Keep Screen On detects that the device is no longer used. The ‘activation’ angle can be adjusted between 0 to 180 degrees, as well as the accuracy of the orientation sensor in its detection.

Sounds good. But does this thing Greenify / its service also continiously runs itself in the background?

I have been using Autostarts which used to do the same without running in the background.

Universal ADB (Android Debug Bridge) Driver for Windows >> https://plus.google.com/103583939320326217147/posts/BQ5iYJEaaEH
This apparently even works with Windows 8.

This driver should work on all Android phones for all versions of Windows. It does not require that you turn on test signing or disable driver verification or even reboot. This is done by automatically installing ClockworkMod as a trusted certificate and publisher into the local machine's certificate store during the setup process.
