I tried to copy the NAM 1 Settings to NAM 2 Settings, So that I can

Make and recive calls selecting NAM 2. All but except the LAst 4 Settings

coudn't be changed:

On restarting phone I could access the Service Area and Make Outgoing

calls ring for 15 Secs max after which call disconnects, but if the

reciever picks up the call then the call disconnects.

After Several attempts finally I reached upto a setting which allowed me

to Recieve SMS and make outgoing calls (only ring, the reciever won't

pick up the call, otherwise it would disconnect!).

I could not actually communicate on voice may be because these settings:

Good work mate .... but all this was covered in the QPST discussion sometime ago. I have "Red colored and "x" marked a few fields... " the reason I will PM you.

The AOC can be misused, and is partially location (and handset manufacturer specific).

If u really intend to see if u are able to use Line 1 and 2, try this...

Take an LG RD2030 (old connection - Prepaid)

Connect it to the comp using the serial port cable, and read the phone settings using QPST. Once done... do not disconnect the phone, but note the settings on CDMA Settings 1 and CDMA Settings 2

Now give a call from another phone (and Pick the call from the LG which is connected to the comp), while the call is in progress... take another mobile and once again call the LG handset (now u get call waiting)...

read the settings on QPST's CDMA-1.

RECEIVE THE SECOND CALL ...

and see what changes happen in the CDMA-1 Settings ... u will see that NAM 2's settings - is the receiver of the second call... Or that reliance still supports two lines... except on new connections ... since RIM understood the loophole that existed in case the same was used for a conference call to an international / national number. -> this is PRESICELY why RIM has stopped call waiting in new connections.

Cheers

Ashok

Hi Abhishek, I have also tried this on my LG5130 phone and noted down the NAM settings. I want to change NAM2 to my BSNL settings so that i can use both the networks. when i changed the NAM2 settings on reliance phone then LG phone displays "please contact reliance customer care". If i change NAM2 settings on BSNL phone(HUNDAI) then it accepts NAM2 but roamings indicator flashes and cant make any call. thats coz my ESN no.(HYUNDAI) is not activated on reliance. but why cant i change my LG phone NAM2? Ican regiter my LG phone ESN no. on BSNL. So i want to change NAM2 of LG phone to BSNL so that i can use both network on one phone. hoping for reply. If anyone knows. IF reliance has somekind of protection in their handsets?

Hi...

Even I tried this on LG 6130. I tried putting in the settings of my old Tata Indicom phone(Kyocera) into NAM2. But strangely enough, the screen showed "Please contact Reliance Customer Care". I guess Reliance has built a safeguard against registering on other networks in the handset firmware.

But I am sure there has to be a workaround, maybe someone can shed more light on this. Ashoksoft.. are u listening!

No I was reading ... rather seeing ... could not have a text to speech engine reading out a web page at 2.30 AM!

well I would love to comment further ... but for the moment I will just keep mum ! and give a surprise out very very soon! there is a lot of information being traded on IRC on mobiles! (hint hint)

ohh bol hi deta hoon...

What reliance has done is that it has hardcoded the values ... so even if u change the settings otherwise the Qualcomm chip still is programmed with default rim values as far as CDMA settings are concerned (PRL .. SID etc)

The best way out ... Reflash the handset without the RIM settings ... or search if u can find anything like QPST which allows fiddling on 5130 ./ 6130

Hi AshokSoft,

Thanks for taking intrest. I have changed the SID/NID/Channel/ etc. etc. that same was reflected in settings and that was confirmed when i run QPST. then i run ESN writer v1.01 that was a bad program (i know changing ESN no is illigal) thouht that i will change ESN to my bSNL mobile and after that using HCC i will transfer reliance settings. so that same ESN no will be registered with reliance. but the program was bad it erased at seetings to 0000.(this was also confirmed by LG service center software). then i again changed the NAM settings. idont know why reliance is checking NAM2 settings?

hi Ashok Manker...

I had my fair amount of experiences with ESN Writer... so not mentioning anything about it ! YES FIDDLING WITH THE ESN IS ILLEGAL. so no more descriptions about it.

getting to the answerable question :

NAM 2 : how many of you tried : http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?act=...14&t=5171&st=0# ?

I am sure hardly any ... coz if u had tried it out .. u would not have asked this question. NAM2 is the settings called for when u are on LINE-2 (or whe u receive a call waiting and pick up the second call)

even when the mobile registers to the network, both NAM1 / 2 CDMA settings are updated. AOC is the first to be updated

cheers

Ashok

Dear Sir, according to our current technology and knowledge, it is not possible to use 2 numbers on 1 set. Since two numbers have different ESN numbers and their releated CDMA settings which u can't plant of same phone.
