deepu,

Hi Sanay,

Its simple... Copy whatever code i have given below... in notepad

@echo off

:10

ping google.com

ping mail.yahoo.com

ping relianceinfo.com

ping rimweb.com

ping gmail.com

ping aol.com

ping yahoo.com

ping 123greetings.com

ping baazee.com

Goto 10

note: if you want to put more servers do so .... add each in seperate lines

Save the file as png.bat

Do not save with .txt extension

Now go ahead and double click on the png.bat which you just created..

It will open in a DOS window and start pinging endlessly

After connecting with Rconnect, run this batch file... Now it will not go to dormant stage.

Thanks Deepu for ping.bat

But when I run that I get average speed dropping from 120 kbps to 80 kbps.

Someone had pointed in earlier post about pinging the active connection, that also has same effect. but when I ping anyother no. than active connection, though the screen shows request timed out but the net speed is maintained around 120 kbps on average(i.e. I can download about 40 MB per hour simultaneously uploading 7-8 MB)

Well, the method I use involves seeing the IP address of the server alloted each time I make a connection. Its the quickest way, and believe me, uses maybe nothing of the availabel bandwidth. Its not an easy or hassle-free way, but the best one for the techies (geeks, may i call u that).

I will try to create a Windows app that sees the IP address of the server alloted each time you make a connection and ping that one contnously..

Allow me a bit of time...

I will do that within a week and post it here..

I did it.... It looks a bit dirty but does the job

You can get it from Ping App

Start it and click on START..

It first does a TRACERT and continuously pings the first IP address

Try it and please post whether its working

Good work. However, it was pinging the wrong server address. It worked, but still... keep it up man.

is it taking the server address of first hop in tracert. I programmed it to take that.... and it seems to work fine for me.....

I had to take some server for first step of tracert .

I tried with google.com and mail.yahoo.com

mail.yahoo.com was better...

First press the start button.... it will tracert on mail.yahoo.com and will take the ip address of first hop(Server address).... once its complete, second step of pinging will start which will continuously ping the server address.

It is a plain looking window with no buttons......

If you want to stop it... just close the window

Phew......... At last some one said that its working fine... Now there is no need for you to open a DOS window and also do tracert and ping manually...

Hope my little application works perfectly for every one..

Deepu!

GOOD Work!

But its pinging other server than the actual one!

I think its because of it takes the address of first hop.

Anyway LAGE RAHO!!!

well, in vb, u can use GetHostByName() and GetHostByAddr() function (API) calls to do that.

guys,

I got a typical problem in RD 7230.

Once my phone go into dormancy mode.

Then after when I start browsing again it connects but didn't transfers any data.

And only pinging doesn't solves problems.

if I didn't ping phone goes in dormancy mode in 3-4 sec... and if pings then phone goes in dormancy mode in 2-3 min. Then after I had to Re-Connect..

But When I download something it only drops after download completes.

And to Re-Connect I had to remove phone from USB cable.

I had check all available USB modem drivers. ver2.1, 2.5 and 3.0

can anyone help.!!

Do not know why you have to remove the Phone from USB cable

Any way niket try my utility... It may solve your problem... Rconnect does not go to dormancy when i have this running even if i am not doing any thing on the system.

You can download here

deepu,

I already downloaded that.. nothing works for me.

BTW Dormancy is not a problem for me.. its good i can receive phones meanwhile. main problem on WinXP is once it goes in dormancy it never able to transfer data again. I have to Re-Connect.

With same phone , same cable and same PC but with suse linux is works fine. and on linux it goes in dormancy after 22-25 sec . in WinXP it goes in just 4-5 sec only... something wrong in in WinXP config.

Dormancy is not good for Min based data plans but with bandwidth based plans it doesn't matter.. see below

On networks that support dormancy, PPP can have a lifetime that is longer than that of the underlying data call. In order to estabish and/or tear down PPP, there needs to be a data call. In order to send and/or receive IP packets, there needs to be a data call. But if there is no activity, the data call can go away and then be automatically reestablished later when needed.

On most technologies (1xEVDO is a notable exception): when there is a data call, incoming voice calls are blocked. When there is no data call, voice calls can be received, even if PPP is established. Similarly, during a voice call, there can be no data call, and thus no IP packet transfer.

Do not know why you are unable transfer data once it goes to dormancy.... I use Win98... yes it goes to dormancy after 4-5 secs of inactivity... But if i try to access some sites, it comes out of dormancy.

But if i use my ping app, it almost never goes to dormancy.... Well very rarely it does go.... but very rarely...

I have never faced the problem you are facing...

Do you have Win XP SP2 also..

Can you just try with Win98 also on your system.... perhaps it will work with Win 98

Niket .... You can try this

-Open up the Control Panel

-Double click on the Modem icon

-Click on Properties / Connection / Advanced

-In the Extra Settings, enter S10=10

-This will enable the modem to stay connected without a carrier for up to 10 seconds.

Do not know whether this will work... But try and post what you found
