Per the engineer who came to install, the outdoor CPE itself will work as Antenna & Modem. Internal unit just providing power to the external unit.

It isn't less for WiMAX, it just varies for BSNL WiMAX. The throughput for In post #91 you had posted an upload speed of 2.06 Mb/s, right? Mobile WiMAX service provided by Sprint in US gives pretty steady throughput for download and upload, so it must be due to the way in which BSNL implemented the network.

happy browsing.

upload speed is always low in bsnl wimax some times getting 512kbps upload and some times 200-300kbps.

but with the download speed i am happy.

i think your are right my friend. maybe they will improve the upload speed soon. and happy news is here the 999rs plan is reduced to 750rs. so for

750+50(CPE RENT)+TAX=around 850rs. 2MBPS/850rs/month not a bad deal comapred to other ISP.

These airtel guys also try to overcharge me every month by sending 199 rs extra for gaming pack which i have never subscribedand i have to fight with cc guys to get it reversed. I really want to quit airtel.

i am going to bsnl CSC tomorrow. i didnt got my wimax bill till now.

Yeah, they aren't even sending bills, so email service may not even be ready as there is no billing portal for WiMax like the other BSNL services.

I contacted BSNL's CTRA ( Computerised Telecom Revenue Account ) Unit in Ernakulam. They told:

1) In Ernakulam SSA , they have created a "data only" phone number series (217xxxx).

2) Wimax billing ( CDR records ) details will come along with the regular broadband CDR and billing will happen on monthly basis.

3) They are still waiting for the WiMax CDR to start the billing.

Wait for some more time. Will get one consolidated bill for 2-3 months :-)

With BSNL WiMax , most of the time I am getting >150KBPS download speed for torrents. But upload speed is not that good. One thing which I noticed is , sometimes download speed will go down , that time upload speed will be very high.

Speed test :
