It was Rs. 99 per month for unlimited local on-net calls (Virgin/Tata Indicom/Tata DoCoMo/T24) and now only for Rs. 50 more the postpaid subscribers can enjoy a whopping 25 hours (90,000 seconds) of on-net STD calls. This is amazing! I've subscribed this add-on pack and chatting leisurely with my sister who stays in Mumbai since last week. I'm loving it.

The humble pen drive has been around for a long time. Prices have never been cheaper, and larger capacities are easily available too. If you're a computer user, you probably have several of them. Apart from using them to just transport your data, there are a myriad other uses for one, as long as you have a one with a decent capacity and speed. For most of these uses, a 2GB drive (prices start at Rs 250) is more than sufficient, though as is always the case with digital storage, more the merrier! Run PortableApps PortableApps is a Windows launcher that can run entirely from your USB drive. What this means is that you can carry a suite of all your favorite applications like Firefox, Chrome, VLC Media Player , Foxit Reader, 7-Zip and more, all on the drive. Plug it into any remote computer and you'll have all your favorite applications with you. All you have to do is head to the website and download the PortableApps program. There are even pre-selected app bundles available for download. Get it from www.portableapps.com Computer maintenance & troubleshooting A USB drive can play host to various applications that can help fix, maintain or troubleshoot a computer in need. First, you can start with Trend Micro's HouseCall or Kaspersky's virus removal tool. Glary Utilities can be run to do a complete maintenance check (registry clean, removal of temporary files, manage startup programs). Finally, Ultimate Defrag can be used organise the files for better speed and reliability. Get all the apps from www.pendriveapps.com Run an alternate operating system Linux and various versions of it are available for free. But some special versions of Linux like Puppy Linux, Damn Small Linux and Xubuntu are small and light enough to be run completely from a USB drive. This means that you can run and check out Linux for yourself on any existing Windows computer, without making any changes to it! The added advantages of these 'Live' builds of Linux is that they have very minimal hardware requirements, which makes them blazing fast, even on older machines. Get them from www.puppylinux.org, www.damnsmalllinux.org, www.xubuntu.org Automated backup of selected folders You may have a 500GB hard drive in your computer, but the most important data to you on that drive will be lesser. It could be a folder of your photographs, videos, songs or important documents. Rather than take a complete backup of the drive which is a time-consuming process, you can use Microsoft's SyncToy to selectively backup and synchronise certain folders between the hard drive and an external USB flash drive. Once configured, all you have to do is plug the drive in to backup the folder. Get it from: http://goo.gl/Zz77V Run a complete media player XBMC (Xbox Media Center) started out as media center for the Microsoft Xbox , but is now versatile software for PCs to playback multiple formats of multimedia files in a slick interface. XBMC Live is a special version, designed to run from USB drives and it can be used to run a pre-configured version of XBMC on any machine for demo purposes. Pretty much anyone who sees the Live version gets the full version instantly. Get it from: http://xbmc.org/download Encrypted Data with self-destruct feature If you're paranoid about someone stealing data from your USB drive, you can secure the data with USB SafeGuard. It encrypts data on the drive with advanced AES 256-bit encryption. You can assign a password to selected folders or to the entire drive. And there's a setting that can erase the entire contents of the drive if someone enters a wrong password too many times. Get it from http://usbsafeguard.altervista.org Work securely on a remote computer Democrakey offers a suite of handy applications that you can store and run from your USB drive. When you are away from your own PC and want to use the Internet on an unknown PC, Democrakey can keep your data and information safe. It includes the Tor Browser (for anonymous web browsing), Clamwin (to check the PC for viruses), AbiWord (to read Word documents) Thunderbird Portable (with pre-installed add-ons to send anonymous email) and TrueCrypt (for file encryption). Get it from www.democrakey.com Increase performance with Ready Boost With Windows Vista and Windows 7, if you have a fast enough USB flash drive, you can use it for Ready Boost. Ready Boost is a feature that uses the space on your USB drive as extra RAM , instantly boosting the overall speed of your Windows system and programs. Not all USB drives are fast enough to be used for Ready Boost. To check, right click on the drive's icon in My Computer, click Tools and then the Ready Boost tab. For more information: http://goo.gl/JztRI Use it as a 'key' to access several PCs You might have seen this before in the movies; a USB drive is inserted into a computer and it immediately springs to life. A free application called Predator can be used for exactly the same thing. Download and install Predator, and pair a USB drive with it. With the USB drive plugged in, you can continue to work, but as soon as it is removed, the screen darkens, the computer locks, and keyboard/mouse input is disabled. Plug it back in, and normal usage is restored. Get it from: www .montpellier-informatique.com/predator Make a "life-backup" This can literally be a life saver. Many of us may have not stopped to think about what would happen if we lost all our belongings in a fire, flood or natural calamity. The size and portability of a USB flash drive is actually ideal to store digital copies of all your important documents like bank information, credit card details, birth certificates, legal papers, insurance papers and anything else that ties into yours or your family's life. Be sure to keep one away at in a locker or at a friend's place in another city for extra peace of mind. Source: Economic Times

Nokia X5 Review User-friendly and comfortable to type on Pros : Compact design, comfortable keypad, excellent audio quality Cons : Bit chubby, earpiece needs to be placed correctly to be heard, average camera, no GPS, no video call camera The Nokia X5 is a phone aimed at youngsters. It has a full QWERTY keypad, which should come in handy considering how much these people type, and other interesting features, such as the ability to change tracks by shaking the phone or knowing how many unread messages you have. It also has a 5 megapixel camera with flash, QVGA display, 3G and Wi-Fi. It also runs on Symbian S60 3rd Edition, which means it is a smartphone and you can run multiple applications on it and download more from Nokia's Ovi Store. But then how good is it? Read on to find out. Bundle Nokia X5-01 50 track music voucher Nokia BL-5F 950 mAh Li-Ion battery Nokia Travel Charger AC-6N Nokia 2 GB microSD card MU-37 Nokia Connectivity Cable CA-101D Nokia Headset WH-102 Compact User Guide Design & Build The Nokia has a rather unique design. It is a slider but uses a landscape display. This gives it a distinctive square shape when closed. Slide open the phone and you will find a full QWERTY keypad, which, again, is uncommon in portrait sliders. Our review sample came in an eye-popping shade of pink, although, there is a far more subdued charcoal grey version available as well. Below the display you will find a 5-way navigation pad surrounded by a rather confusing layout of buttons. Confusing because it groups together three keys on either side of the navigation pad in a very indistinct manner. Luckily the keys are spaced well apart, so you don't end up pressing one key while aiming for another. Still, we don't quite like the way the soft keys don't line up properly below their functions above on the display. The center button on the navigation pad also acts as a notification light. On top of the display, you will find the earpiece with the ambient light sensor. The X5 doesn't have a video call camera, which is uncommon for a Nokia phone with 3G. We had some trouble with the earpiece on the X5. It has to be lined up perfectly with your ear to be heard clearly, or else the volume levels drops substantially. When you first place the phone on your ear, you will need to move it around so that the speaker fires directly in your ear through its tiny outlet. Again, it's very uncommon for Nokia to mess up such a basic functionality of the phone. On top of the phone are the 3.5mm headphone jack and the micro USB port. The phone does not have a standard charging port and charges exclusively through USB. On the right side of the phone are the volume control buttons and on the bottom is a single loudspeaker. The phone uses stainless steel around the sides and on the back for the battery cover. Above the battery cover is the 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. The SIM card and microSD card are placed below the battery. The X5 accepts up to 16GB microSD cards and comes with a 2GB card as standard. The overall build quality of the phone was very good, something that Nokia rarely goofs up. The slider was also well built and slid smoothly. The dimensions of the phone were slightly awkward though. The phone feels too wide and the lack of height does not give enough room for you to hold on to. It's also pretty thick, which can be cumbersome for those wearing tight jeans. Display The Nokia X5 has a 2.36-inch QVGA display. The image quality is pretty decent; nothing too shabby for a phone in this segment. Even under sunlight the display remains perfectly readable. It also has an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the display brightness. Keypad The keypad on the Nokia X5 is one of its best bits. All the keys are large and very easy to type on. Even the top row of the QWERTY keypad is not hindered by the edge of the slider. Only problem we had with the keypad is that the grey markings on the silver keypad were difficult to see at times. Connectivity The Nokia X5 is a quad band 3G handset. It also supports Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth v2.1. Call quality and network reception were top notch and we had no problems with them. Wi-Fi sensitivity was also good and the device picked up weak signals well. Unfortunately, there is no GPS. The web browser on the X5 was found lacking in terms of features. You cannot open new tabs, neither is there a search bar. The performance is quite good though and the browser is pretty fast and also supports Flash lite for basic Flash content playback. We would still recommend Opera Mobile if you need more features. Camera The Nokia X5 has a 5 megapixel, fixed focus camera with an LED flash. The phone does not have a dedicated camera, so you have to use the center button on the navigation keypad to take pictures. The camera is a bit slow; it takes about three seconds to launch and the shot to shot time is about five seconds. The image quality is average. Daylight images come out well but only for objects situated at a distance where the lack of autofocus isn't very obvious. Images are over-sharpened to make up for the loss of detail. The noise reduction algorithm doesn't really do a good job as low light images are filled with noise. The flash isn't very effective and images taken with the flash have a hazy, washed-out look to them. The X5 records videos in VGA resolution but at a lowly 15FPS, which makes them far from smooth. Music The Nokia X5 is an Xseries phone, which have always been music phone in Nokia's product line-up. The X5 comes with a dedicated music key, which launches and hides the music player. The X5 also has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a rather powerful loudspeaker. The audio quality through headphones is excellent. We used our HiFiMAN RE0 and the X5 sounded perfect with plenty of volume to spare. The loudspeaker was also pretty loud but sounded rather tinny. The X5 also has an FM radio. The radio sensitivity was very good and so was the audio quality. Battery Life The Nokia X5 has a 950 mAh Li-Ion battery. The battery is pretty small for a 3G smartphone with Wi-Fi. The phone lasted for a little more than a day of usage on a single charge. In comparison, the Nokia E5 with its 1200 mAh battery lasts for two full days. Verdict The Nokia X5 is a very likable little phone. Even though I was repulsed by the pink color initially, after spending a few days with it I quite liked it and found it very user-friendly. The design is very unique but won't be to everyone's taste. The keypad is something that everyone will like and it is very comfortable to type on. The audio quality is also great and the phone can be a good replacement for a dedicated music player. For an average college student, the Nokia X5 offers plenty of useful features without being too expensive. The X5 is priced at Rs. 9,199. Unfortunately for the X5 the E5 is available for just thousand rupees more. For that extra cash you get a design that is more palatable to the general public. You also get GPS with Ovi Maps and more importantly a bigger battery. And for that reason we can't really recommend the X5 to anyone when you can get a better phone by paying just a little more. Portability of Car Registration Numbers-Retain Your Old Car Number Lifelong Maharashtra First State in The Country To Offer Now, you can use old number on new car Somit Sen, TNN, Feb 12, 2011, 05.47am IST MUMBAI: The state transport department has decided to introduce portability of car registration numbers. Starting next week, if you buy a new car, you will be able to retain the number of your old one. But the convenience comes at a cost. "We will charge a one-time premium from car owners for offering the choice," said state transport commissioner Dilip Jadhav. A source in the RTO, Mumbai, said the amount will be Rs 10,000. The old number cannot be retained if the car is transferred to another state. "But within Maharashtra, you can use the number for a lifetime and keep changing car models as per your choice," Jadhav said. "We are the first in the country to provide the facility." Vehicle owners have welcomed the news. "These days, people keep changing cars as new models hit the road every month. Some car owners feel a sentimental attachment for a particular registration number. The transport department's move will please them," said Ram Shah, a resident of the eastern suburbs. The department expects to make a windfall from the scheme. "We will have to wait and watch how many people avail of the scheme. We expect to earn lakhs in revenue across the state," Jadhav said, adding that last year, RTOs across the state earned handsome revenue since many people, mainly businessmen and industrialists, bought vehicles like Ferrari and Range Rover. During the Diwali season, the RTO, Mumbai, made a record collection of over Rs 60 crore, the Andheri division (of three) netting more than 50% of the amount. Special car registration numbers, which includes digits 1 to 9, double and triple digits, can be obtained by paying anywhere between Rs 5,000 to a maximum of three lakh rupees.

CHirag, its really shocking and sad to know that such younng child need to go thru classes to get amission in school. Since you have not got admission why dont you initiate complaint to concerning department about what ever you have gone thru and also try to see to it that they are punished for spoiling present and perhaps future of children if at all got admitted in such school. Infact you should feel happy that your could not get admission in school with no moral. About educated parent's children getting admmission in good school itself is a sick psych. Are they trying to keep unfortunate devide in our society? We have two class of people ENGLISH SPOKEN and NON ENGLISH SPOKEN, english spoken people consider them to be superior of non english spoken and they assume to be intelligent and concerned about society and culture. In my belief, our education system just creates intellectual slaves. We loose our independent, innovative thinking. That's why I sent my son to school since the age of 3 I am sure your child will get admission in school fit for you and your belief.

Mobile-phone maker Sony Ericsson on Sunday unveiled a new smartphone specifically designed to play video games, called the Xperia Play. First PlayStation Certified phone packs 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and Adreno 205 GPU This smartphone has 4-inch capacitive multi-touch display that supports FWVGA 480x854 pixel resolution. Xperia PLAY s display slides out to reveal the action buttons, Directional Pad, Touch Pad and selection buttons. The phone also has two shoulder buttons. In short, the flat panel when slided out works as PlayStation controller. The corners are rounded. Under the chassis, the Xperia Play has 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with Adreno 205 GPU. This smartphone will come preloaded with Android 2.3 Gingerbread which will carry the TimeScape UI on top of it. Sony promises basic 3D gameplay at 60 frames per second on the smartphone. The company has promised to launch 50 new game titles from 20 different content publishers were shown. The entire library of classics would be rolled out on weekly basis. However, we are a bit disappointed with the imaging powered by a mere 5.1-megapixel camera with autofocus which hopefully records 720p HD video by default. Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, and Digital Compass. Since it runs Gingerbread, you'll be able turn Xperia Play into a mobile hotspot for connecting up to 5 Wi-Fi devices. Xperia Play would be introduced in GSM and CDMA versions for select markets. For GSM networks, Xperia Play will support Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and quad-band UMTS HSPA for faster and better telephony. Just like the other Xperia models, Play would be available in Black and White color options. Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play would be available in select markets from next month March. Pricing of the smartphone wasn't revealed at the launch. Whenever it hits the Indian shores, I presume it might be made available at a premium price above/around30,000. In the U.S., it will be available first with Verizon Wireless. Thanks

This video has that. And more. A chap by the name of Tom Guilmette got to work with a Vision Research Phantom Flex camera recently, and, being the true geek that he is, he put together a video composition of staggering slow-motion footage. When pushed to its limit, the Phantom is capable of filling every second of 1080p recording with 2,800 frames, though Tom mercifully ran it at a lower 2,564fps speed. Thank you everyone for kind words of encouragement Another One. Looxcie, A Futuristic Wearable Bluetooth Camcorder Just when you thought you have seen it all β€” and recorded it β€” Looxcie, a camera worn over the ear, ups the ante. Invented by a parent who found himself fumbling with video cameras while trying to record children's parties, Looxcie can capture everything the user sees for up to five hours, hands-free. And with the press of a button, a clip of the last 30 seconds of film can be sent to a Facebook page, YouTube or a preset e-mail address via a companion app on your android phone from where you can edit and upload itβ€” making Looxcie the perfect device for the age of audio-video oversharing. Android app also acts as a live viewfinder for the camera. A reversible earplug fits in either ear-hole. If you only use it as a Bluetooth headset, it will last for 10 hours, and if a call comes in while you are filming, the video recording is muted. The beauty of this device is that you can engage yourself into the experience instead of the task of simply recording it as your hands are free. It will record everything which you are experiencing at the moment with your eye. Manufacturer Website http://www.looxcie.com/

Hello Everyone, I am writing this difference between the three phones i.e Samsung Epic 4g, HTC Evo 4g, and HTC Incredible as this question has been asked by a few fellow members and non-members. I will only list the major differences and not similarities/minor difference for the sake of shorter post. Display & Display Size : Epic 4g & Fascinate : Super AMOLED, 16M colors, 4.0" Incredible : AMOLED, 16M colors, 3.7" HTC Evo 4g : TFT, 65K Colors, 4.3" Remarks : SuperAmoled consumes less battery but TFT has more natural colours.SuperAmoled is most vibrant and sharp but at times colors feel unnatural. Dont get me wrong here, but this is of personal taste and you may not even notice a difference. Both Samsung Wins Camera, Secondary Camera, Flash : Epic 4g : 5 MP, VGA , Yes Dual Incredible : 8 MP, - (None) , Yes Dual HTC Evo 4g : 8 MP, 1.3 MP , Yes Single Fascinate : 5 MP, - (None) , Yes Single Remarks : One should not go on specs and see the actual picture to judge the camera rather than mega pixels. It also depends on sensor size which is not listed on any site. I have not compared the cameras myself. EVO Slightly Wins but all have good Performance Processor : Epic 4g & Facinate : ARM Cortex A8 1GHz (45nm dye size Hummingbird eats less power) HTC Evo 4G & Incredible : Snapdragon QSD8650 1 GHz (65nm dye size eats more power) Remarks : Samsung processor is considered best here as it is stated on some sites that it has better graphics acceleration and performance. The actual proccessor performance may be marginaly better but it is considered that graphic acceleration is significantly better. Both Samsung Wins Other Minor Differences : Dimensions & Weight : Epic 4g : 124 x 65 x 14 mm, 155 g Incredible : 117.5 x 58.5 x 11.9 mm, 130 g HTC Evo 4g : 122 x 66 x 13 mm, 170 g Fascinate : 125 x 64 x 10.5 mm, 116 g Fascinate Wins User Interface : Samsung Epic & Fascinate : TouchWiz 3.0 with Built in Swype As per Guarang (Touch Wiz have Better App Drawer where we can make Grouping of Applications, Folders, Quick On Of Button in Task Bar, In build Task Manager Task Killer, App Manager is Breeze), Built in Widget in Samsung is Better Except Clock, 5 Good Live Wallpaper in Samsung EVO & Incredible : HTC Sense (Look Good, Good Clock Widgets) Both Ties Battery : Samsung Epic & Fascinate : 1500 mAh Incredible : 1300 mAh HTC Evo 4g : 1500 mAh Personal Remarks : To me Dimensions and weight hardly matter with such minor differences. UI is a personal preference. I have heard that TouchWiz 3.0 is as good if not better than HTC Sense. Though personally I have just used it for 10 mins. I would personally say that both UIs are having very marginal difference which should not be a major consideration while choosing your phone. Battery life of Samsung Epic 4G will clearly be the best here due to SuperAmoled, though by how much I cannot say. Both Samsung Wins EPIC and Fascnate Gives almost Same life Sound : As per post by Muffy Bhai(mentioned below), Samsung Epic 4G contains wolfson audio chipset with Virtual 5.1 Ear Phones, so audio should be much better than the other 2. EPIC Wins Misc : HTC Evo 4G has mini HDMI Port (used to connect it to a TV/Projector to view the output) Fascinate has Bluetooth v3.0 but no Secondary Call Cam or wiMax (4g), DLNA: Fascinate and EPIC have allShare (Advanced DLNA) so you can Stream Music Phones Audio across Wifi Network, i can Open File Stored in PC on Phone and vise versa, I can play Video Stored on Phone Directly to Samsung or any DLNA Compatible TV EPIC: Yes Incredible: No EVO : No Fascinate : Yes Samsung Wins Scratch Resistence Glasses : EPIC : Yes Incredible : Yes EVO : Yes Fascinate : Yes Scratch Resistence Back Panel: EPIC : Yes EVO : Yes Incredible : Yes Fascinate : No CDMA Radio Throughput EVO : 4.5 Star Incredible : 4.7 Star EPIC : 3.9 Star Fascinate : 4 Star HTC Uses all in one MSM Chipset (CPU(Snapdragon)+Modem+GPS) Samsung Uses Slight Older QSC Chipset (Modem+GPS) HTC Wins in EVDO Speed and overall Radio Performance WiFi EPIC : WiFi N Incredible : WiFi G / (N Disabled to Conserve battery) but Using Custom ROM its Possible EVO : WiFi G / (N Disabled to Conserve battery) but Using Custom ROM its Possible Fascinate : WiFi N Samsung Wins (WiFi N uses less power in Idle Mode and give better Range and Error Corrections) Bluetooth Headset : HTC Wins (Better Reconnection and Reboot Detection) Polished ROM and Custom ROMs : HTC Wins Recovery Process : Samsung Wins ODIN is Simplest (Dont Mess with this though) Overall Looks : EPIC : 3.9 Star Incredible : 3.5 Star EVO : 4.5 Star Fascinate : 4.2 Star EVO Wins Video and Multimedia Performance Samsung WINS - it can play MKV DivX AVI MP4 all using GPU Accelaration, HTC only plays MP4 using GPU Accelaration and all other with CPU Bluetooth File Transfer Samsung Wins Remarks entered above are opinions based on reading a few websites, as I have not got a chance to test the phones personally. They may differ and if you find any remark incorrect, please notify me so that I can correct it. Furthermore, I advice people to read reviews before making a decision. Thanks ! Gaurang
