Here are my experiences for the last 3 years or so.
1. Hong Kong - 2010 - didn't take matrix as I had HTC Hero cdma then. A friend brought a local sim from there called smile chat chat. Weird name but very economical. Calls to India were less than a rupee per minute.
2. Spain - 2011 - got matrix. Expensive. They charged me 25 rupees per day for an incoming free sim. Outgoing calls were expensive. Bought another prepaid sim (happy movil) from there. Good cheap calls and data.
3. Singapore - 2012 - decided not to take matrix. Bought a starhub prepaid sim for about 500 from the airport. Good talk time within this money and about 300 MB data. Cheap outgoing calls to India using idd. Had free wifi in the hotel too.
4. Kuala Lumpur - 2012 - again gave up on matrix. Bought a Maxis hotlink prepaid aim for about 600. Again cheap outgoing calls using idd. 250mb data.
5. China - once again did not take matrix. Wanted to buy China Unicom prepaid sim. But did not get time and since wifi was free in the hotel did not buy. Using Google voice credit to call phones in India (2 cents per minute) and whatsapp for im. Gtalk for video chat. Writing this message from China right now. I do not have a G voice number so I can not use my phone for it and have to use my laptop.
Unfortunately no twitter, Facebook and Wikipedia in China.
All in all I would say matrix isn't the best option and turns out to be pretty expensive if you want to make outgoing calls. Most of the times, you will get a cheap prepaid sim from airport or a 7/11 shop. In fact while on my way to Kl, a friend spotted a stall at the ig international airport that was selling prepaid sim cards for various countries. He bought one for kl (don't remember which provider) and it worked well there.
Also free wifi comes handy to make voice / video calls.
TripAdvisor is a good website where people discuss various prepaid sim options to in different countries.

Fascinating Read. I’m still here: back online after a year without the internet Paul Miller of "The Verge" left internet completely for one year. Above is his experience.

I don't see what is the problem in recording by individuals ! Call any company and you will get " This call may be recorded by quality control purposes". (Althouth, unlike in the US, Indian law does not require any such announcement). Once you tell people that call is being recorded they automatically become careful and this saves a lot of time. Otherwise you will hear one thing on the phone and get something else in contracts/agreements etc and you have to go through 100 pages and then talk 5 times when the other guy will claim he meant something else. Also, you can refer back to the recording when you yourself are confused. For example boss is saying something while you are driving or in a noisy environment and you keep saying yes sir yes sir without really getting the exact idea then you can listen to it again and realize what he wanted and what you are doing are entirely different things ! If the other party is talking in "Good Faith" & is reasonably honest then there's nothing to worry about if call is being recorded. If not, then its good that it was recorded. Finally, since other parties are recording, we also need to record otherwise in case of any issue they will produce selective sections saying rest was not recorded. So then you can produce your own authentic and full recording. Obviously, its not very good to play pranks like getting your friends to criticize their bosses /wives / GFs etc

@Genius - I think Matrix will be best. I used them recently for Europe. No upfront charges. Gave them credit card copy. Got bill of fixed charge of about 500/- which includes about 200 minutes of incoming free in Europe/UK. Had to make some emergency calls to India. Total bill was about 1000/- They must have some similar scheme for US. Also why don't you use your smartphone with wifi and skype. I did this also as in Europe especially France, wifi was free. So I just charged my skype credit with 10 Euro (700/-) and made calls via wifi to landlines and mobiles in India at very very economical rates. Even after speaking for about 2 hours (total) I still have 3.5 Euro left in my account.

Keep brightness yo like 35 % Download spare parts no ads version fron market and make the animations and transistions faster. Download camera 360 and use that to take pics . Low light snaps will always look kinna subpar on phone screen . But I believe if yo u can transfer them to pc they should look great. I never found any issue with the display. The hardware is impeccable . Subway surfers used to play so smooth on it if I compare how it plays in s3. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
