Whats App - How To Disable Downloaded Images Showing Up In Gallery?
ami1 replied to Genius's topic in General Technical Discussion
Best solution would be for Daaktar Saheb to subscribe to some Religious Pictures Groups and refrain from such morally corrupting photo groups. Followed by extended Therapy Sessions with a good psychologist ! -

In the review Blackberry sounded pretty confident of their phones. I haven't personally used the z10 yet so can't be for sure. If it can truly get android apps to work perfectly hardware and look bb doesn't look like a bad choice As for moving personally what I used in the past both what's app and bbm seemed pretty much the same but will allow to be better integrated with some friend who don't have what's app and use the basic bbm services plan Also corporates do still prefer bbm as the main office phone and will allow such users to be better connected with their non bbm friends Most android apps work flawlessly on Z10. But quite a few just don't work. With the 10.2 update ALL are expected to work (as it runs the Android 4.2 player). That said, I don't think BBM is much of a USP any more. At least not in India. The earlier cheap BIS plans may have been useful for some but now BB10 uses normal internet plans so.. The no-nonsense performance and very thoughtful UI of Z10 is much more persuasive along with the Hub, Z10 browser which outperforms both iphone5 and sgs4, few more such features. But all these will come to android anyway in a short time and to iphone in a long time. What remains for BB is whether you want a phone to play & fiddle around all day Or you want a phone to increase your actual productivity without worrying about its settings/apps/roms.

Irresistable Deals In Electronics, Gadgets, Mobiles, PC Hardware

I would strongly recommend going for Sony CMT EH25 Micro hifi system. Unless you actually need to CARRY the system around on picnics or to class/office ! This is equally small BUT its 3 pieces so you can't carry it around and it needs power (no batteries i think). Retails for around 5K. Check flipkart, tradus, homeshop18 etc for discounts It is a really nice & small system and shows USB folder names and has dedicated folder change button etc. Many (most) bigger systems don't show USB folder names properly (some show only 8-10 characters, some scroll very slowly and some even show only folder number which is useless) See here for details. Sound is really clean and nice and it also has CD/DVD/Tape/Radio just in case you need them occasionally. Browsing through USB folders will not be as fast as in a Car Music System (which typically have a rotarly switch to browse through the folders) but its as good as any expensive system.- 6,376 replies

Reviews for Ainol Novo 9 Spark
ami1 replied to sumeetpingale's topic in General Technical Discussion
I have tried a few ainol tablets and they were Extremely Good. But i don't own one so i can't say about long term usage. But for these price levels, maybe Nexus 7 would be better. Its very very rugged and you get latest updates etc. It also comes with 3G i guess though it may be more expensive. I had brought one N7 for around 14K without 3G some months back from homeshop or tradus or some such site. -
Irresistable Deals In Electronics, Gadgets, Mobiles, PC Hardware

Small kids (between 8-16 yrs ) then Nintendo Wii, if kids are older then its best to let them select but they would probably want either of Sony Playstation3 +Move or Microsoft XBOX + Kinect If you are buying Wii, i would suggest to get it offline with the hack that lets game backups & homebrew apps work. In mumbai you can get these at Alfa with hardly Rs 500 or so additional cost. Else you can do it yourself but it'll take up a few days of your time i guess. Then you can download all games from TBP and put on a HDD and no more kids pestering you for games frequently. Games cost 2-3K otherwise. I only bought 3 games initially and then downloaded 20 games on to a HDD. With hindsight though, I would suggest not telling your kids that you have all games downloaded or can download for free. everytime they ask you can download or enable 1 game ! Otherwise, having all Wii games just reduces its value for them and they lose interest ! Wii doesn't have realistic graphics like Sony PS3 Move or MS Xbox Kinnect etc but somehow kids love Wii more as the games are more interesting. If you like shooting or racing games with realistic graphics then PS3/Xbox are better. Wii shooting/racing games will have funny characters and magical things going around ! Wii will cost around Rs 15K, if you want a cheaper console then PS2 for around 5K is good. Regarding the best deals for any of these Consoles - I think the other deal experts will enlighten you. I was only commenting about the choice of consoles.- 6,376 replies

Getting 2 way call recording without custom ROM / Kernel - fairly successful
ami1 replied to kshah's topic in Android
CallRecorder working perfectly fine on Blackberry Z10 - using line recording and doing both ends fine, also automatically records all calls. All the other ones have some problem or the other. InCallRecorder says it can only record on speakerphone mode. Here's the BAR in case someone wants to install on BB Z10.polis.app.callrecorder_v1.0.24.0--WORKS.zip -

Getting 2 way call recording without custom ROM / Kernel - fairly successful
ami1 replied to kshah's topic in Android
Can someone please upload the APK for this MP3 InCall Recorder & Voice >> https://play.google.....incallrecorder It says its not compatible with any of my phones and I need the apk to install on my blackberry z10 (yes, almost all APKs work on BB10 - you just need to convert them to BAR - which can be done easily here: http://apk2bar.unker.net/). Thanks in Advance. Here is the apk. Thanks silent_god. Am trying it out now... -
Getting 2 way call recording without custom ROM / Kernel - fairly successful
ami1 replied to kshah's topic in Android
I don't see what is the problem in recording by individuals ! Call any company and you will get " This call may be recorded by quality control purposes". (Althouth, unlike in the US, Indian law does not require any such announcement). Once you tell people that call is being recorded they automatically become careful and this saves a lot of time. Otherwise you will hear one thing on the phone and get something else in contracts/agreements etc and you have to go through 100 pages and then talk 5 times when the other guy will claim he meant something else. Also, you can refer back to the recording when you yourself are confused. For example boss is saying something while you are driving or in a noisy environment and you keep saying yes sir yes sir without really getting the exact idea then you can listen to it again and realize what he wanted and what you are doing are entirely different things ! If the other party is talking in "Good Faith" & is reasonably honest then there's nothing to worry about if call is being recorded. If not, then its good that it was recorded. Finally, since other parties are recording, we also need to record otherwise in case of any issue they will produce selective sections saying rest was not recorded. So then you can produce your own authentic and full recording. Obviously, its not very good to play pranks like getting your friends to criticize their bosses /wives / GFs etc -

@silent_god: Can you upload the apk please - whenever you have time. Google play says its not compatible with Samsung Nexus S 4G so I am unable to get it from there. -

Great. My jugaad was to pair phone bluetooth with Laptop and take call on laptop speaker/mic or on a wired handsfree / Earphone connected to laptop - with sound recorder running. But it was cumbersome since you can't have laptop everywhere when you need to record. Also, the jugad doesn't work on my new laptop - probably different bluetooth profiles on this laptop. It just pairs as dial up modem and headphone. This laptop does have a 3G card inside so I have put a sim and can record but then my number is different. The troubles we go to for missing features........ -

Brilliant ! Never thought of trying out through ALSA. Will try this out on Nexus and update. But I think it should work. At least the theory is good. Have been stuck without good call recording since Palm Treo days. Was on the verge of buying a 5K bluetooth receiver for this. -
Almost all 3G & EVDO dongles work flawlessly in latest linux distros like Ubuntu 12.10 - actually better than in windows 8 now. I have stopped noting down which models work or not as I am yet to get any model not working in the last 1 years - and i would have used at least 8-10 different models. Still you never know if something has problems so its best to check the dongle by taking your laptop to the shop before buying. For example my BB 9650 is CDMA+GSM so although it is supported it always keeps trying GSM mode while I am using it on CDMA. Or you can check here in Wammu/Gammu database here (http://wammu.eu/phones/) This database is actually for SMS/Voice support for 3G dongles on linux but usually if the phone model is mentioned there it should work for internet. Many of the models not mentioned in wammu will also work for internet. Voice/SMS is much tougher to support as there are no published datasheets. Alternatively, if you are yet to buy the dongle then you can search on the net for 100% working ones. Or i can suggest few models that I have and are working. BTW, you don't have to configure anything for 3G dongles. Just attach dongle and in 5-10 seconds you click on the network icon (top right in ubuntu) and the drop down should show you your operator entry (like Reliance 3G etc). Click there and it'll connect. In case of problems, click the 'configure' menu item in the same drop down (for eg to select GPRS instead of 3G etc or if you want to change the default APN for any reason) For EVDO modems you have to enter you login/password by clicking configure before they'll connect. Read these pages: and these for the 2 models you have specified. DON'T read pages dated before 2012 as there may be cmdline configs which are no longer needed.

Advice Required for Verizon BlackBerry Z10 on Reliance CDMA
ami1 replied to ami1's topic in Technical / OS related
Gurus, Please put in some advise here. Even if it is to confirm it can't be done. so that I can decide accordingly and shift handset or something. I am FED UP of vodafone 3G now. Everyone in my building used to say its great but its really ****ty. For a few days I even thought I need to get my ears checked I think once you have tasted CDMA its pretty difficult to go to GSM. Unless they come up with full 3G coverage and HD Voice. Only data is faster but then as soon as I enter my house its on Edge, though just outside the door is shows HSPA+ Have stopped call forward from my main RCDMA number to my BB Z10 now as I can't make out what's being said.- 9 replies

If one does not need something, don't buy it: however great the deal may be. .... OK MOM ! But on a serious note that was good advice - have requested the seller to cancel, waiting for his reply.- 6,376 replies

OK, I am seeing 'no signal' problems in some places with my vodafone postpaid if i keep it on "only 3G" all the time. So you are correct that 3G is spotty sometimes and it needs to switch to 2G even for voice calls. Have not faced this in RGSM yet even though I keep it on "only 3G" but it may be because I am near the towers 99% of the time (WEH) Will try RGSM voice clarity on 2G and update. In terms of speed I can tell you that RGSM 3G is almost always giving me 3Mbps, while Vodafone 3G is 8-10 Mbps most of the time and 5Mbps sometimes. RCDMA EVDO for me is always 1-2Mbps. Airtel 3G was hopeless, couldn't get it to work. All this may only be valid for Mumbai. I think staying with RCDMA might be best for me - at least its very very consistent. Now if only I could get a Verizon BB Z10 which works on RCDMA (w/o BES/BIS, just evdo - since that's all that is needed now with lotus traveler).

Irresistable Deals In Electronics, Gadgets, Mobiles, PC Hardware

Amitabh Brother i think below link gives a better option http://www.ebay.in/itm/Cosco-Basket-Ball-HI-GRIP-Orange-Rubber-moulded-orange-colour-Size-6-/320936556961?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item4ab94f39a1&_uhb=1#ht_1100wt_906 please excuse me but I would have given it to my daughter after all those gadgets listed above Completely agree. That's why i am trying to reduce her gadgets. Never realized when she accumulated so many till my wife reminded me. Its very good that you keep reminding all of us to make healthier choices. And I need to get a little less lazy - I have her basketball lying on my car back seat since her exams started 2 weeks ago - for filling up some air. But I am waiting for a tyre shop to appear on the same side of road that i drive on !- 6,376 replies

Irresistable Deals In Electronics, Gadgets, Mobiles, PC Hardware
ami1 replied to rajanmehta's topic in General Technical Discussion
Indiatimes is the only site with which I had a bad experience. Ordered a book for 350/- and never got either the book or the refund - even after following up for 6 months. Though amount was small, the experience was frustrating. But this was years back, so they may have improved. Times is a pretty good brand otherwise. Rajanbhai, Is a Nintendo 3DS XL new for 13K a good deal ? I have just got a mail that I won this on ebay today but I had forgotten that I had bid for this. (I had bid on many 3DS and 3DS XL and lost most of the bids and didn't remember that this one is still going on with me as highest and only bidder) Now the problem is that we had decided yesterday not to get this as it will affect daughter's studies (already has Wii, Nexus7, DS, Kindle and a PC). If its a good deal I'll buy and put it up for sale again, as i don't think ebay allows one to retract a bid.- 6,376 replies
