  1. ^^^ It's kind of software but the correct term is Firmware, and it's propreitary software(firmware) of the corresponding company(Ex: Qualcomm etc.,), they simply don't provide the drivers for the band to work so even though most of the models of the present generation high end smartphones use same chips, certain bands are disabled(it's called hardware disabled) in some models by not providing the necessary binaries for the hardware to work. The best example is Nexus 4, even though it had firmware to support LTE in North America, Google & LG haven't advertised it and after it was found that LTE is enabled in Nexus 4 by the users, they started using it, then only Google pushed an update that disabled LTE support.
  2. I clearly see that is the case with the Keval & his friend, PPOBOX clearly seems to have a direct hand in what happened with them.
  3. That s**ks big time friend, I'm wondering that it will get more & more difficult to import any thing from US in the future
  4. Which page, the deals page is working, but may be for some of the particular softwares you may get 'Page Not Found'(I got this for Mcafee Mobile AV) but rest of them worked for me(although some offers are restricted to some countries only)
  5. Various popular Anti-Virus(Internet Security) products available for free at the following link: Facebook NOTE: Some are region specific and aren't available to all countries.
  6. I think only Bangalore people are lucky guys because as per another user here in this POST, who used FedEx(from Comgateway) also f***ed up by the FedEx & Customs, don't know his present situation. His items are stuck in Mumbai. Not scaring any of you guys but just to let you know guys so that you take wise decisions there is no point shedding thousands of rupees to shipping & customs and take all the headaches. Let it settle down may be in few weeks or few months. After that you can continue to importing.
  7. Yes you can use Desire 700, but pls note that(as I've already mentioned in my previous post) only in one sim slot(slot: 1) 3G(EVDO or GSM 3g) will work the second sim is only 2G capable according to the official specifications on HTC website that Rajan ji provided link for. HTC One Dual also has same setup, if your budget permits then go for HTC One Dual(which may costs around 40-42k) or HTC Desire 700
  8. ^^^ Looks like HTC for some reason applied its same principle of HTC One Dual Sim in HTC Desire 700, that is 3G works in only SIM Slot:1, so it may not fit the OP needs. So, request OP to note this before jumping on this. But I guess, it is very difficult to get a high end phones with dual sim(that too CDMA & GSM) & 3g on both sims. So, your best bet is to sacrifice data network on one of the network(either in GSM or CDMA) and use Desire 700 or HTC One dual(which is way high budget).
  9. Motorola is giving away Google Chromecast device for free with every purchase of Moto X smartphone. This free give away is only available with an Unlocked & non-carrier Moto X and only valid til 14th of this month. If any body interested then head over to Motorola US Website.
  10. No bro, pls don't opt for comGateway(although the fault is not with them), but because they only use DHL & FedEx, which both of them rip you off(I had a horrific experience with DHL, which you can read in this thread only and other member complained about FedEx too couple of pages back, pls read that). Unless, you have some free money laying around & don't know what to do with it and just want to donate to poor customs officials... lol, yeah then you can proceed with the above combination. Otherwise just stay way at least for now.
  11. ^^^ I believe it is not possible to unlock the phone for GSM purposes with 'KNOX'(you got to downgrade your modem to MDC which is not possible with KNOX), I'm not sure but I think that is the case and I read your above question regarding getting 4G data in UK with Sprint S4, never ever buy a Sprint phone to use with 4G networks in UK, they don't work, because Sprint 4G bands are different.
  12. So, nothing can be done here? We all know that duty should be 7% or is it based on custom officer? Aren't there any guidelines that can be referred to build a case here? This can happen to any of us and after this PPObox problem this really makes us scared. Is there any applet authority or governing forum where we can compliant/ raise case/seek help regarding such incidents?? Nothing can be done, as I said few pages before, I was charged around Rs.7k(6k for phone + 1k for a case) by Chennai customs officials, the irony in my case was that the phone was a brand new one & they assessed it for around Rs.35k but they charged 16% of the assessed value(by considering it as a tablet!! ), which is unheard of, now you call it 'Blatant loot'(as Ankit said) or whatever you want, at the end of the day it doesn't make any difference and as I've already explained on few pages back, when I argued with DHL guys how on earth it was considered as a tablet(the reason the DHL customs agent gave for 16% duties) when the LG itself is importing the same phone(LG G2) as a smartphone but not as a tablet, he slapped a circular on me which gives the Customs officer all the powers to consider any smartphone as a tablet & slap 16% or 18% duties on the assessed value. When I asked DHL person why can't they ask the concerned officer, he said no one can, they will show you all sorts of rules and may create more problems. As Hitesh said, consider yourself unlucky, pay the amount & stay low. Don't waste your time, money & effort by trying to do something about it.
  13. My home is just 100-150 years away from being covered with 4G(if at all it ever been covered with any good data network singal)
  14. Here is the stock build.prop file of Sprint LG G2 build.zip
  15. It works as it has been reported by other members on XDA, but as Hitesh ji said you have to be rooted to make any changes to the build.prop in the phone itself or to push modified build.prop to the phone from computer. That's a build prop change only, so if you mobile is bricked(most probably soft bricked like stuck on LG logo) then you can just flash factory files to it(or even push the original build.prop if you can), it will solve the probably.
  16. So, does PPOBox is processing mobile phones or not?, yesterday it was said that they stopped shipping mobiles phones!!
  17. The simple way to create your own laptop a wifi hotspot that can be connected from any Android smartphone is 'SeventhGate' after using various softwares(including Connectify, Virtual Router, etc.,), I found this little piece of open source software which works perfectly in my Dell laptop(which are known to be very problematic with regards to Wifi drivers). It creates a WPA2 connection so you needn't worry about it being able to use with Android devices. It's very simple software & works really well. Although the range can be limited by the Wifi adapter of your laptop.
  18. Can you pls let us know what was the item(if you don't want do in public you can always pm me), the reason I'm asking is because last week I got charged 17% on the assessed value of LG G2 and I shed a hefty amount for the customs. If you see couple of pages back, I attached a circular that was given & quoted by DHL guys when I raised a complaint, according to it & DHL guys following that circular customs officials can consider smartphones as tablets from now on, so they said they can't raise a complaint or ask customs official to look into the matter again.
  19. In how many days(from their US hub to India)? and are they demanding any of those authorization letters, proofs & original invoices?.

Hmm..., the thing about NSA-PRISM is that it is not restricted to the preventing 'Terrorist Activities', but also been used to spy on many things happening around many more countries(even allies of US like U.K,India & so on). And if you collect anything & everything of every one then there is very very high chance of that information being used for abuse(on all fronts), may not be by NSA as a institution but the employees working for it. Seriously, what the internal political developments of India got to do in preventing Terrorist activities. As far as Facebook & other social networks, you are not obliged or forced to use them and give your personal information, but with NSA-PRISM it's not the case like it or not, terrorist or not, you will be monitored 24/7, that's what people & other countries(allies of US) finding it hard to swallow. And if they are able to control the camera of your phone & record the microphone, it means that they are with you even if you are in your bed room with every thing closed. In another news, Apple has come out and issued a public statement, that they are not at all involved with NSA in spying on their customers(the statement which is expected by any one in the position of Apple). Here is the full statement. "Apple has never worked with the NSA to create a backdoor in any of our products, including iPhone. Additionally, we have been unaware of this alleged NSA program targeting our products. We care deeply about our customers’ privacy and security. Our team is continuously working to make our products even more secure, and we make it easy for customers to keep their software up to date with the latest advancements. Whenever we hear about attempts to undermine Apple’s industry-leading security, we thoroughly investigate and take appropriate steps to protect our customers. We will continue to use our resources to stay ahead of malicious hackers and defend our customers from security attacks, regardless of who’s behind them."
  21. Reliance CDMA EVDO Activation Via SMS

Try to do OTA by dialing *228, after that try to send the SMS, I've had same problem (You are not a valid user) and after dailing *228 again I sent the message and I got a message that the request has been accepted and with in few minutes I got another message that the EVDO is activated on my number.

Apple Helped NSA To Spy On Their Customers: For the last year or so, there have been all kinds of reports regarding NSA-PRISM, the controversial US Surveillance system. Some of those reports are perceived to be over exaggerated & some perceived to be true. I have read one report that any data sent on https(encrypted lines) can be intercepted, decrypted & used by NSA-PRISM. Here is another shocker of new, a bad news to all those Apple fans & Iphone users. According to the leaked documents, the NSA of US can created a Spyware which can be installed on any Iphone and once installed those phones can be remotely monitored. There is nothing in the Iphone that can't escape being monitored through that spyware, the Iphones camera, mic recordings, calls, text messages & what not, everything can be monitored. According to the reports, the NSA name this whole program as DROPOUT JEEP. The big catch here is that NSA needs physical access to the iphones to install this spyware, so how the NSA got physical access of the Iphones then?, well, according to a German magazine either NSA either intercepted some shipments of Iphones and installed spyware carefully without being noticed or Apple itself played into the hands of NSA and helped to achieve their goals. According to the noted security expert & hacker, JacobAppelbaum who closely involved(worked) with Wikileaks & Snowden, believes that Apple might have helped NSA to spy on their customers by allowing the installation of the Spyware in one way or the other. Check out the below video(from 44:30) where Appelbaum talked about NSA & Iphones. Source: Apple Insider, GSM Arena.
  23. Handset Launches - News Snippets

For the last couple of months, the rumours have been piling up that Samsung will be launching new top-line Android model in the year 2014. The new line of smartphones will be known as Galaxy F-series(just like Galaxy S-series at present). The F-series phones will have all metallic body, ditching Samsung's 4 year old all plastic body language(that many people complaining about). According to some reports, the new Galaxy F series will be the top-line model featuring much high end specs, to go with the metallic body, than Galaxy S Series and Galaxy S series may be shifted to play second fiddle to them. 24. Happy New Year 2014

Happy New Year to all you, wish you a healthy, prosperous & meaningful year a head.
