Congrats. How's GPS? Battery review.

There seems to be a GPS issue. Got only 2 satellite fix after waiting quite a bit and did not lock. Looking for solutions. AGps and location working perfect. Battery life is same. I find no change.

OK, I fixed the GPS issue after official ICS update by this -

1. You should know your MSL (usually 000000)

2. Launch phone dialer and dial ##GPSCLRX# (##4772579#) This will clear and reset your GPS

3. Enter the MSL as the password (000000)

4. Your phone will automatically reboot. If it does not (mine didn't) reboot your phone.

5. Once booted back in the ROM open Maps or Navigation or GPS test application and obtain a GPS fix (This is an important step!)

I had done first 3 steps and it had not helped. Doing other steps now. Nothing happening for me. I'm on EL29 as yet. I shall try this again when I shall be on the road.

I don't think so. It would not be an OTA then. You can download the update from above link.

I got the update today again. I hit install it. It was stuck on trimodeangle with green guy. It didn't move forward. I removed the battery & it went to recovery mode. I restarted it. I'm yet on GB. How do I move ahead?

I think you didn't read my later post where I posted that I have also got the OTA.

I want to update to ICS. I'm on rooted EL29. I've got the update 3 times but not happening. I've replaced google maps only with voice capability. Help needed to upgrade.

I was successful in upgrading to ICS. The battery drain was heavy. I updated when battery was 100%. Finally it was 20%. GPS test is not getting locked. Google maps is getting location but it fluctuates.

I'm attaching my current battery status.

Try and use sfhubs 1 click ics Odin file to flash the ics rooted ff18.

It works like a charm.

Give it three full charge and drain cycles , you all be good to go.

^

I am not rooted and on stock FF18 and I don't see any difference in battery life from the earlier gingerbread rom. Maybe it is some app that may be causing issues for you.

You did not get my point.

I asked you to start afresh.

Find and flash the one click rooted ff18 from sfhubs .

This way you will start from clean.

After that just give your phone three cycles of full charge thru ac adapter and full discharge. You will be good to go, new from will be helpful in correcting errors on the previous setup and three charge cycles will calibrate the battery.

Using 3g drains the battery very very fast so turn off the 3g once you are done.

Keep brightness to lowest comfortable limit

Switch off Bluetooth GPS and other services to off.

By using titanium backup , backup and then remove sprint bloatware that you don't use.

Whenever I restart my phone it says Android is upgrading........ Why is this happening on every restart? Does this mean that upgrade is not complete?

I've completed the 3 cycles are over. Screenshots attached.

Cycle 2:655

Cycle 3

Still the battery performance is bad. I'm at 4% now. All cycles I've let it die. Also charging was done with phone switched off. Cycle 2 may look better as it was night time & phone was not used much.

Reflash gb

Its a general belief that ics seems to be having a bad battery life on epic touch.

Was wondering if the phone supports usb OTG function...

coz it has "Pointer/Mouse speed" in Settings>Language & Input>Mouse/Trackpad>Pointer speed

I tried with a pendrive with a USB OTG cable that worked on Galaxy note And S2 Gsm version..

However it did not support pendrive OTG function on my d710...

i did not try with a mouse though...

If someone can throw some light....

Thnx

The phone hardware supports USB OTG but stock kernel does not support it.
