RJio does not have a single paying customer. RCom has lakhs of paying customers. RCom customers are very happy with EVDO and do not want to change. Why should the paying customers of RCom be made to suffer for the future gains of Rjio

Am on a posting spree but@kanagadeepan cannot confirm no fup but it will not be 256/512kbps downgrade. This is a full LTE network and will definitely reduce pricing across all operators

Edit duplicate post For those who have been ported to rcom gsm 2g and need high speed data, walk into a digital express and get a lyf wind 4 for 6799 - use it as hotspot and get 90 days free voice, sms, 4g on rjil as most stores are giving invites themselves

Because rcom is bankrupt (not actually, but has huge debts) and the tower sale to rjio is what will save them. In this thread I can see many people slating rjio as both rcom and rjil use the same brand name. It's not rjil fault that rcom is managing this migration so badly. I would recommend everyone on rcdma to port out to a gsm operator interim for 3 months and then port back to rjio when it launches commercial operations

Reliance always had the pricing edge over other operators. CDMA customers were loyal to reliance primarily because of cheaper data rates. I personally feel reliance must retain existing data pricing except the unlimited plans. 246 for 4-5 GB is not something that cant be offered by reliance. In reverse case if they launched data pricing equal to other operators, you will have to work hard to find a reliance 4G customer after 3-4 months.

Rcom was is debt because of their stupid marketing. EVDO has been better than 3G always, both in terms of voice clarity and data speed stability. But rather than emphasising on their better service and offering support for premium handsets, RCom decided to offer services only on cheap bundled handsets.

If you think that 4G would be as cheap as EVDO, be prepared for a very rude shock.

Got an opportunity to visit Reliance store in Kharadi, Pune today. I walked in with my SIM card (CDMA) which I was using earlier with my Tata Photon Max unlocked dongle. There were around 5-7 more customers in there - with pretty much frustrated looks. A few of them had some square shaped dongles and were complaining that there is no network and we are unable to reach the customer care as well. So, I asked one of the boys there for the upgrade and he was eager to hand over a new SIM to me. Rs. 25 is what he asked for. I did not want to argue much about this though I know Reliance website states I should be paying only Re. 1. He took my CDMA SIM and inserted in a spare phone and there was no network. There was one employee of Reliance there as well, who was asking if there was any issue of signal and he typed the numbers of some of us and sent it to some Reliance team via WhatsApp as sample numbers which were not working. He said, this is a transition phase and we are working to sort things out. The shop fellows said that the network will be back by second half today, but I personally cannot rely on that. To me, it appears that this was intentional step from Reliance to scare people to port out immediately. I also heard some dates that the new SIM will be activated around 3 or 5 June and the old one would stop working on 31 May. About 4G, the lady stated 15 July is when it would start, but again, take that with a pinch of salt. So, all in all, I am pretty excited to have purchased my first 4G SIM ever (I do have a Verizon 4G SIM which came free with my Droid Maxx, but I did not pay for it). My dad is in Thane district and his CDMA stopped working completely (no signal) since yesterday. He will be visiting a store nearby to explore the upgrade option

The Reliance Store in GTB Nagar, Delhi said that they got the news from their technical team that EVDO has been shutdown and will not be back up. There was no notification. I was told that they are planning to start 4G by the end of this month and CDMA will stop working. However, there is no official notification for that either. RelianceJio is planning to capture large user base by 4G rollout which has already been delayed and there is no official news on it's launch. Reliance CDMA is troubling users at this time with their irresponsible behaviour. Reliance GSM has no reliable network coverage, at least not in NCR region. Analysts are saying Jio will gain 15% subscriber base when people are talking about porting out of RCOM. News is saying LYF is fifth largest hanset vendor in India but I have never seen anyone using / buying or even talking about this particular brand. Reliance Store people are also majorly unaware of it and said they have launched only one handset that's displaying in TV ads called Lyf Flame. A quick look at eBay and Amazon shows less than 50 people have ever bought this phone online and have actually given bad reviews. I fail to understand how can a brand which has almost nil online presence dethrone Lava mobile, a well known brand with large advertisement spend, from fifth position - http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/tech/tech-news/Reliance-Jio-pips-Lava-to-become-5th-largest-smartphone-vendor-in-Q1-IDC/articleshow/52308516.cms Our honourable Prime Minster and whole country is talking about Digital India and Reliance is sailing it's loyal customers in Stone Age direction.
